      YW and I found a TJ here in long Island that needs frame repair but runs and drives, 4.0 5 speed, I bought my XJ instead but the guy only wants 1500 bucks, frame or no frame, it's a steal

    Hey man cool vid your Jeep looks just like mine. I live in NOVA also, can you share where that trail is/maybe we can hit it up together too. Much appreciated, keep it up!

      Thanks! The road with the creek is little river road. Just a cool gravel road with a small creek crossing nothing too crazy but a nice drive.

    You're way over thinking it , just POR 15 it and it will last forever, take advantage of the factory holes in the frame and blast the inside, she'll be fine 4 grand is insane! That's 100% a DIY situation

      Thanks! I’m looking at doing a rust encapsulator undercoating sometime in the near future

    Looking good bro! I had an opportunity to take mine out and bomb around in the snow for a few minutes yesterday. Gotta hit the trails when you can!

    Gotta disconnect the anti sway bar offroad, it will just fight ya , Rusty is a great Man , you name it, Rusty has raced it or done it , used to see him every year at the all breads jeep show in York PA, I never had any issues with his parts and he'll actually give you parts for free , great dude, I actually snapped that track bar on interstate 80 at mile marker 281 a tractor trailer spit a tread at my TJ Rubicon and hit me right in the track bar and Iost all lateral stability at 80mph , wasn't Rustys fault but was a seriously scary situation and there's no shoulder there and it's 200+ miles from home, ended up bringing it to EMS offroad in PA and had 3/4 1 ton everything in the front, after I spit the tire tread out another tractor trailer ran it over and locked the brakes and Jack knifed behind me, 1 thing I've learned in almost 47 years is , You never know what is around the next turn? Literally!

    31s and 3" of lift your XJ is capable of way more, but i understand its pretty mint and you dont want to mess it up. good to see it on some dirt👍

      Definitely way more capable than I’m willing to put it through. Thanks for watching!

    I didn't use rubber under coating but instead brushed off all visible rust and sprayed rustoleum rust reformer which looks like black primer. And also woolwax type spray coating by Eastwood inside the frame rails.

    • @KCars
      @KCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm I’ll have to look into that, thanks!

    Very good videos bro,I have a 2000 jeep xj that I had for about 7months around damn good I drove it from NJ to S.C with Np besides the experience of the death wobble about 6×s but as long as I kept it around 65-70mph it was find...I wanna do the whole suspension with the Rusty kit

    • @KCars
      @KCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I’ve luckily never had death wobble, I’d recommend the Rusty’s kit

    Instead of the rubberized undercoating, once it starts rusting the best thing to is either clean up all the rust then undercoat it, or get the underside oil coated

    • @KCars
      @KCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I currently have fluid film, which was applied after getting the rust cleaned up. Wanted to get something that gives it a more black appearance

      @@KCars In that case the best thing you can do is go under it and spend some time sanding all of the rust to bare metal and then use some tack cloth or something similar to get rid of the dirt and then spray it yourself with something that counters rust where you sanded. Then after that you should be safe to get it undercoated. You just have to make sure that it is all gone otherwise like you said in the video you could rot the frame and rot it quick if the rust is not completely removed. Good luck and nice truck!

    nice West Virginia scenery - however I wonder about the many no trespassing signs - there should be opportunities to really explore some backcountry open range trails....and your XJ looks really clean compared to mine !

    • @KCars
      @KCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately out here in the northern Virginia area there really aren’t any trails like that. Part of the reason I miss good ol West Virginia. Thanks!

      Long Island, we have nothing! No trails , No nothing! Gotta drive 300 miles away to go offroad, so it completely sucks here!

    Good to have a winch mounted for off roading..

    • @KCars
      @KCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. I don’t do any kind of serious off-roading and I prefer the clean look for my XJ. But I agree a winch is a must for serious off-roading
