I just tried this and it has failed to keep running. This runs on my semitruck and sometimes the wind plays games with its exhaust. This did not work for me.
Does NOT work. Only stop the light from coming on. I tried this and then started the generator and took a tarp and put it around the generator giving about a foot of clearance but not completely blocking the exhaust. It shut down in less than 20 seconds.
And here I thought I had to cut and rewire some cables. I give this a shot, many have said if it doesn’t receive signals then it won’t let you start it up.
This doesn't work at all. Looking at the connection he told us to disconnect... all that does is remove the LIGHT. It doesn't actually disconnect the sensor at all. You just have no light now telling you the error.
Disconnected, still died unfortunately. I also tried wrapping the sensor with aluminum / foil tape. That didn’t work either. Will be trying by pass next. If that still doesn’t work, it’s going out to the trash 🤣
@@1new-manI can use a whole roll of duct tape and it still shuts down. Just over 90 days old. HF says buy the $300 extended warranty and they will swap it out. I’m going to just deliver it back to them through their plate glass storefront window.
@@MidlifeCrisisCampers Bless your heart. I do know many gens are now wired so that by disconnecting the sensor will also disconnect other components of the generator. Kind of like changing from a bonded neutral to a floating neutral for whole house use interrupts the GFCI receptacles of the generator. Who knew. Back at the ranch for the duct tape not to work is definitely the exception not the rule. Seems just a common sense warning not to use a generator in an enclosed area would remove all liability from the manufacturer. But that was a simpler place and time. You saved me. Thank you. Worked perfectly. 4 month old generator
Happy to hear! It doesn’t work for everyone but they changed these generators so much!
Great post!
Plan A. Cover the sensor with A patch of duct tape /no wire disconnect necessary
Plan B disconnect wiring
Great job 👍👍👍
My generator still shuts down. No yellow flashing light, but it only runs about 10 seconds and shuts off
Shoot sorry to hear. Not sure what’s going on.

I haven’t seen this happen before! Maybe yours has a different sensor.

You can wrap the sensor in tape to make sure. I just did that also. Just as a back up🤣

Is your carb clean? Are you running old gas in it? Is the gas turned on?
@@AnythingJamesit’s brand new. Cut the sensor out / did the actual by pass. Orange to black, green to green/yellow. Stays running now.
Duct tape properly covering the sensor always works

Just take it back and get a new one. 🤷🏻
😅😂 I just put tape on 2 of my generators
Lol i actually added some to mine also. Just wanted to make sure!
