I get very heart sore when I see abandoned railway tracks and stations. My late husband was a technician, he looked after the phone lines for the old SAR&H, and we lived in a number of the smaller towns you cover. I’m glad he never lived long enough to see that the 40 years of his working life has nothing left of it. We had a wonderful marriage and three precious children, so my memories are very happy ones. Enjoy your break, and look forward to your next trip. I’m 87 so yours is the only travelling I do now!
While it will always be sad to see the destruction of the railway stations and network, we're happy to document them for those who come after us. Each one, no matter how neglected, tells a story of a colourful past and we're happy to tread in the shoes of those who walked there before us, like your beloved husband. We never dwell on the sad or negative for long though, there are just too much beauty which still abounds which we have no choice but to celebrate, share and enjoy. 😍🇿🇦 Thank you for joining us on our travels. 🚙😊

I agree with you, Dusty was simply meant to be. The chances of finding a little brown bear on a dusty gravel road (nogal!) was just too much of a coincidence for us too. I think it would've bothered us forever had we in fact given him away that day. 😥🧸 I'm happy to hear you enjoyed this different trip home, it was fun filming and it made the long road quite a bit shorter. We got home a couple of weeks ago from our 3 week trip to South Africa. It was lovely visiting some of the places that you two have visited on your videos. We were very impressed by SA. Hi Curtis Sonia and Dusty, this has really been a magical journey, I've enjoyed all the towns and dorpies of the Eastern Free State, the derelict in some parts also reminds us of our history and the memorials and churches continue to remind us, of how we got here.
Curtis as mentioned before, you were my hero when you rescued Dusty on the gravel road and I was stoked, when you decided to make him a full fledged family member.

I'm super happy that you enjoyed the towns in the Eastern Free State with us. You put it beautifully, as we also believe there is always some beauty and history left in any destruction and decay we happen upon along the road. We sometimes just have to look very hard to find it. 🏛️⛪ I know you always think of Dusty when you watch and comment on our videos and that's very sweet of you. 🧸😍 He is a special little bear and we firmly believe we were meant to be the ones to pass by that day. I don't think Sonia is stressed about being filmed, she just dislikes it intensely. I clearly have less of an issue with that, but I completely get how she feels. 🥰 Dusty is for sure our lucky charm on the long road, we just love his story and having him as our little companion in the back window. 🧸 I appreciate you always taking the time to watch our videos and to comment your thoughts. Poor Dusty! He wasn't happy staying at home while we were travelling locally, but when we explained to him that he would've had to endure very high temperatures, he understood. 😍🧸 We never leave him overnight though and we always make sure he has ample supplies of water and food before we leave the house. Please next time you head out to Stanford side of the Cape please see if you can see the house built from car tires that someone built late 80's - mid 90's it was quite a new thing / method those years .... if not still today .

We're not in the market to buy a wheelchair, we still have too much hope left that Sonia's knee issues may miraculously be resolved some day. 🤞🏻Thanks for the suggestion though.
Another series topped of, lovely trip thanks. We think here Sonjia that as she is an important part of the show and tema, we the public deserve to she her. Also, as a thought would it not be nice to get a lightweight folding wheelchair, for those moments when it would be nice for you to share the experiences together, like for example, a walk around Clarens, would have been nice for you both to enjoy, there are many opportunities for you to have time to set this up on your trips i am sure. Then you mention you are making memories, which is great, but also sharing with us. But, we here think its that you are documenting the towns and dorps, for history, as these towns we do not have many pictures of the past, but we now know what they look like today, in 50 years and more, people will be able to see what it was like in the old days, would be nice to have achieves for others to see in the future. I enjoyed the Q & A ,especially with the Free State and Karoo as the real screen ...very interesting how the two of you met...my summation of the towns that you visited on this trip..definitely corporate agriculture plays a role, most towns seem to be underpinned with strong commercial trading, the residential areas, for the most part, seem neat and maintained echoing the areas prosperity. My or our gratitude 🙏 also goes out to the guesthouses that have sponsored the videos, if your input costs are reduced we get to see more plus the guesthouses are also showcased by professionals in the field of showcasing properties so its a win win for all of us. For myself I now know where to book because one thing that I learnt about Sonia, her choices are usually what I would choose. I hope that every establishment enjoys 100% occupancy. I agree with you re the episodes being about the content and not so much about the two of you...its a format that has proved to be your success.
