94 vehicles on the MP (Melbourne - Perth) intermodal. Most westbound ex Melbourne should be loaded, although there is some backloading ex Perth, Western Australia I gather.
Great filming of the first two, but you suggest it was filmed early morning (i.e. just after midnight) on 28 December 2020. I reckon it was super early morning of Sunday 27 December as the 'Gheringhap Loop' website records that on Boxing Day/ St Stephen's Day, 7MP5 passed G'hap at 2032 hours with a very lengthy 94 platforms/wagons. Great to see some attractive looking Lindsay Australia reefers on board, plus some interesting steel loading. Amazing it had so much loading when heaps of Melbourne manufacturing plants would have shut down for Christmas by Monday 21 December! The second train, 7731V, attached to 7735V at Gheringhap. 7731V was at G'hap from 1551 to 1847 hours and departed with your two locos, 8125-8159 plus Bl30-BL26 totalling 57 hoppers. I'm guessing that the rear two locos and some hopper wagons were detached at Marmalake/Murtoa. Greta detail about the boom barriers. In the 1980s I did many overnight trips to Diapur Loop or Nhill on 'The Overland' when it was a night train via Ballarat, and changed over to the up with the sitting car conductor. Some nights 'The Overland' was 19 cars and 450 passengers! The AJ first class sitters had the most comfortable seats of any Australian passenger cars with full length footrest extenders: great design. So sad they no longer run. One small enhancement to your videos would be to show the time on the screen - such as '0035' - or include it by train and location in the notes.
Thanks! Yes I will start putting the time on my videos. These were all filmed one after another early morning 27th just past midnight I've just fixed it
@@SBMetro No need to say your footage 'wasn't the best'. It's true we can't see much in the third (final) sequence but the other two are terrific. Love how the Adelaide-bound intermodal accelerated out of Dimmy, and how you showed the TEUs (containers) and other loading close up. By the way, those of us who don't submit videos are extremely grateful to individuals like you who spend time and money undertaking this vital activity. You're recording railway history.
Great Shots SB!
Thanks TCN
That’s a while away from melb! Nice vid!!
That’s some serious power. The locos are similar to the Class 68’s we have in the UK 👍
