Patrick Grant's excellent book 'Less' brought me here in 2024. Thank you for your adherence to quality and British manufacturing and making, Patrick. We so need more people like you around. ❤️
Thank you to great small independent companies like yours that hand make everything vs. mass disposable items. When you purchase suits and outfits like these, they last a lifetime. Thank you wonderful England for keeping tradition!
Fabulous film with Patrick Grant, the owner of Savile Row tailors, Norton & Sons. Patrick tells us what inspired him to sell his home and persuade family and friends to invest to save Norton & Sons.
Dave Ward (head cutter in this clip) didn't last long and moved to Huntsman. Not many stayed long with Patrick Grant at the helm, I've been led to believe. Nice to see Ray Hammett pre his retirement. Lovely chap!
..I respect your conviction...well done: I was at Norton....after David Bowie's passing [I am a look-a-like ]....I went to Savile Row,...Gieves ands Hawkes cut 4 suits for me......Huntsman 'crapped'........and Norton may make me a Safari Wardrobe....... Hilarious...thx: CS
I think he's saying "every suit is hand cut and hand sewn," which is the case. "Hand sewn" on Savile Row refers to suits having hand sewing but not essentially totally hand sewn. Most of the tailors use machine sewing on long seams where it offers no distinct disadvantage to hand sewing.

Still open?
Funny how the moment the voice over refers to 'everything is hand cut and hand sewn' the vision shows a machine busily at work.
