I actually had these guys from when they were roughly a week old because the parents abandoned them. As for handfeeding, you could probably start as early as you like, given that you're comfortable feeding them at that age.
Wow what an amazing bond and the way you have fed them put a smile on my face. I have couple of questions and would be grateful if you can answer them comprehensively. Thanks in advance. - At what age have you started feeding them ? - How many times in a day do I have to feed them ? - What do you feed them ? My Finch hatched 2 eggs and they are 4 days old. I am thinking to separate the baby birds after 2 weeks in a separate cage and provide them a nest to sit comfortably.
When I got the finches the oldest was about 10 days and the youngest about 7 or 8. They started feeding immediately and we fed them roughly every 3-4 hours day and night until they were about 3 weeks old, so close the the age in this video, after that they started to feed themselves in addition to the hand-feeding so it was more like every 6 hours during the day. The formula we used was Kaytee Exact baby bird formula, it's very easy to make and it keeps for a long time if you put it in the freezer between uses. When we weaned them we used millet seeds and Zupreme bird pellets (the xsmall size), which they still eat today almost 6 years later. Feel free to message me if you have more questions, and good luck with your new babies :D
These finches we're abandoned by their parents, which is why we had to hand raise them. If the parent is still feeding them I would recommend letting them do the feeding and you can start handling them to get them used to people. If you handle them do so one at a time and be very gentle, and careful not to drop them. The finches in this video are nearly full grown and were handled most of their lives, you may need to be more patient and gentle with younger chicks
Your baby finches are so cute.

I will sum up the video: Peep peep peep peep *fed fed* peep peep peep peep *fed fed* repeat until hand cuddles.

@@ALonelyLamppost thanks
@2mechazawa Pretty much. Rinse and repeat every 3 hours.
Is it necessary to separate the baby finches from parents afterwards?
And how to take them out of the cage like should I pick them up one by one?
