Been a fan of theirs since I heard a one of the songs on CMT in middle school the song What A Crying Shame, I liked that ok but when I first heard the song Should of been true that done it for me I asked my mom for that CD for Christmas and I got it in my stocking even though I had out grown Santa clause had to pretend he was a real thing because of my sister and my nephew moven back in with my mom and me due to their house flooded and no where to live at that point and time, he was around 3 or 4 andy mother strictly prohibited me from telling him Santa wasn't real. She didn't have to tell me or remind me every now and then before Xmas I wouldn't of done that. Because it was spoiled for me when I was in kindergarten and this bratty ass boy who was mean as hell told me and a lot of us. I was so sad and cried at recess. Teacher had my mother come get me so I know how that felt and didn't want to ruin it for him. Then when he started 1st grade he found out from another bratty as kid, he took it way better than me at least. Anyways I got that CD for Christmas since then been a fan of theirs. I had bought that CD number of times due to scratches, one got stuck in a CD player the door wouldn't slide out, let someone borrow it never got it back or me just loosing it and left it in a CD player in my car forgetting to get it out when I got a new car trading that car in. So I had gotten it several times throughout my life of knowing and loving their music.

Total crap being the one left with the memories, but you are responsible for holding those memories now. Cherish what you had- so rare and precious. Keep listening, and take comfort. I listen to this song when i need a good cry. After the breakup with my Frankie. I tried to get him back but not working. Becuz i didn't trust. We was meant to be i believe and i lost him due to trusting issues. Im so sad and hurt and angry..

Raul Malo's voice fits the other instruments that make up the Mavericks in the same way that Sinatra's vocals were tailored by the various world class bands that he used... they both are hand in glove beautiful... and rare. Listening to the radio these days is almost torture... band after band after band, singer after singer after singer... all scream "me too" "me too" "me too". It's not that the players can't play so much as it is they completely lack originality and clever arrangements. Millions can sing and play a guitar and only a handful are special. Try to find a recording of the Mavericks that doesn't sound fresh and tailored to perfection. You won't.
Sorry for your Mother! :) I love the Mavericks but there is this steel guitar solo at the end that makes this song so great that is missing in that version.
