    I remember Greensboro, the city that played a role in the sit ins of the Civil rights Era. I been to High Point before. Thank you for the tour video. I still love living in these little towns and I don't mind visiting the city. Reasons I don't want to live in these cities because of police brutality crime horn honking and drive by shootings. But Greensboro sure seems like a great city to visit.

    I notice you didn’t go down Eugene street around the ballpark area which is where a lot of new developments are happening. Including the office building with the crane at 2:30 several highrises will be built in that area including a 28 story tower in the next construction lot beside the office building going up.

      I'll try to swing by there next time. I'll be recording some more areas around the Triad later this summer and the fall.

    I am a 76 year resident of Greensboro, and 4 generations before that. I would encourage you to rethink your assessment. 50 years ago it was a great place to live and start a family. Today, however, it is plagued by gangs, and a runaway murder rate. The city management and government are more concerned with show than much else. It’s like an oil painting; you don’t see the brush strokes until you view it closely.
    To paraphrase our state motto to apply to Greensboro, it would go something like this; “ to seem rather than to be”. In short, save yourself the trip.

    • @emilywinter7472
      @emilywinter7472 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So accurate. Greensboro government cares more about building shit the average resident couldn’t afford to go to- and painting cutesy little hipster paintings on buildings than to make it a half decent city to actually live in.

      @@robertellison4691 Crime rates have more to do with population density than anything else, and it's a problem every city has to one degree or another. There are MUCH worse cities for that than Greensboro, it really isn't that bad, especially compared to other cities. If you don't wanna be around any crime, go live on farmland where there are no neighbors 🤷

    • @saladsalad9991
      @saladsalad9991 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The city is not plagued by a runaway murder rate. The average murder rate in Greensboro in the 1960's was double the average murder rate in the 2010's

    We used to have music, and that made Greensboro a special place for me. Now we don't have music because of the virus. Now its just Greensboro, Colleges, and People. No music. It feels like Footloose but instead of a crazy preacher guy stopping the locals from gathering and having fun, its the scary virus that you cant see and kills without mercy. I think Greensboro is a great representation of where the country was with textiles, how it is divided, and how structurally it is in need of repair and renovations, not gentrification. Just because the buildings are rebuilt or the houses are renovated does not mean the price should increase to live. If anything these apartments being built that are "more energy efficient" should cost less to live in, not more because you save in heating or cooling. We must all start with where we live and focus on helping each other and standing for one another, not against each other for our differences, but stand together for our similarities. We are all just trying to get through this thing called Life, wouldnt it be easier if we could see that and respect each other no matter what.
    Just my thoughts.
    Thanks for recording a drive through our lovely small city.

      1. Charlotte
      2. Raleigh
      3. Greenville, SC
      Out of the small cities (less than 100K population) I liked Salisbury's downtown the most.

      LeoNation 89 I’d say a good way to describe downtown Greensboro is more historically preserved than say Raleigh or Charlotte. That might be somewhat due to the area growing more slowly than those two cities. It’s a good place for someone looking for mid-sized city amenities without some of the growing pains of bigger N.C. cities.
