I feel like an oddly high number of your videos include an apology for one thing or another, and they're consistently some of the best content out there on 40k lore. Your work has kept me company through many hours of painting and modelling, and the time has been more enjoyable for it.
Just got my first kill team and it's 4 Custodes. Listening to this while painting them, making lore for them. The leader I named Balder Mor in reference to our humble servant and brother
Heh, I only played one game of new Kill Team (and watched another). It was against Custodes and... it made me not want to play any more... 2 fire teams of 2 Custodi each is way too strong. Death Guard gets 2 fire teams of 2 Plague Marines each, Space Marines can take one fire team of 5 Intercessors... and Talons of the Emperor can bring this :-P Pretty crazy nonsense.
His work on my chapter brought tears to my eyes, the Vlka Fenryka are nowhere near the Adeptus Custodes but our Loyalty to the AllFather is unmatched, we honor our warriors telling their tales and heroic deeds but even we Space Wolves can never Compare to the AllFathers Chosen. You bring great honor to the Imperium Baldormort, you put our Skálds to shame in your story telling
I did love the Custodes in that amazing ending monologue comparing the Space Marines to the Men of Iron as "Tools that think themselves the masters, weapons that cut the hand that wields them. You were meant to fight and die for your race, for your Emperor and you did not do as you were supposed to do." The Custodes Didn't say "To us, you are like the Thunder Warriors." We did what we were supposed to do.
"L O Y A L." That line hit me so hard because it is so fitting. The entire conversation between the chapter master and the Banana Seargant is so perfect
I'm the first to admit that the Custodes were not very high up on my list of warhammer lore interest. I don't know how you are doing it, but you always manage to breathe such life and vigor into the lore that one cannot help themselves but to take keen interest in it. Another greatly narrated entry! And Mrs. Baldermort's music choice fits like a glove once more!
Funny thing is, that one on one, Thunder Warriors win... But the Custodies had better weapons, and the Emperor had given the Thunder Warriors less ammo so they would be out when the fight started. In a fair fight, they are the best.

For those confused about the Emperor's view of the Custodes vs all the others- Nails are vital in carpentry, without them many things would be impossible to build. But I'd prefer to waste hundreds of those than lose my jigsaw or drill.
The Custodes are elitist jerks, too expensive to produce, and just hang out around the palace being the big E's lapdogs. Let's not forget they had one job, just one as in protecting the Emporer and failed at that by being fooled and bested by "lowly" Astartes. The cowards should go fight some Nids if they really wanna help the Emporer.

@@Baldermort True. Quality/Consistency seems to be overrated at GW these days. At least your material on the matter is top notch as you can't be made responsible for issues with the source material. One question though.. do you have plans on branching out into other settings at some point? I for one do think that for example a setting such as Battletech would greatly profit from your narrative skill.

Malcador has long been my favorite character in all 30-40K lore. And then I realized that he was my Warhammer version of Raistlin, and I loved him even more.😁 (Honestly I’ve been wanting to make a Malcador character model, looking for a generic wizard who didn’t have a beard- do you have any idea how difficult that is?- but for some reason never thought of just searching out a Raistlin model, even though I had one back in 1990 or so.😐)
No matter how angry I get a GW recently (you all know why) I gotta admit giving use Custodian Guard was a good move. I prefer the Forge World models but either way they are awesome.

At first I was experiencing sadness at the direction the story was going with the Custodes ending an entire chapter without explanation until the very last of them remain, but my gosh the reveal at the end.. perfectly delivered! It makes perfect sense! And that voice over for the Custodes pretty much what I imagined what a Custodes would sound like in my head
The Custodes behave as both Lions fighting alone to instant unit tactics like wolves. You could look at two Custodes and rightly assume both are great warriors, but one is a talented mathematician and the other a historian.

I'm so happy your back telling stories as well as the amazing lore. This is my third favorite faction and they were certainly done justice. Edit: that custodes voice acting was top tier.
I had dropped off the 40K radar recently what with work, the birth of my son and a couple of other bits. It’s videos like this that reminded me why I got into it and Custodes specifically. I’ve only been on the scene for 18 months but the lore and all that good stuff is just wonderful to listen to and think about. Excellent work!
The Angels of the death might be mighty warrios of mankind..but they are merely mass-produced Canonfoder, (even the primaris) when compared to the bespoke made custodian guard. Astartes are but prey to the Emperos companions.

Two observations regarding that ending speech: 1.) I think the entirety of the Black Templars would lose the will to live if they heard that speech, because they could never match that level of scorn. 2.) As much of an Imperium fanboy as I am, yeah, I think I understand where some of the traitor legions were coming from.

indeed the Astartes and the Custodes are both tools but the first are meant to be mass produced, used, then discarded the second are crafted with love and care, meant to be the sharpest of tool, the most prized of possessions.
Custodes where so obscure and hinted at lore till the Horus Heresy series and Chris Wraight have made them such a great and amazing faction of demigod warriors in a universe of chaos and war. For they are the first son's of The Emperor himself, they were the first, they preceded the Thunder Warriors, Primarchs, Astartes, Primaris. And for that honor do we call them 'Firstborn', for they where the first and will be the last to stand by His side. In His name do they stand for even in death do they still serve!

Most surprising to me when I joined the WH40K universe was how the Custodes are portrayed to be incredibly smart and wise. Abundance of knowledge and skill. All humanity could strive towards and as close to the emperor as possible. I just wish I could forget some of the stories I heard and read...

I really did get that feeling of disdain the custodes had for astartes while reading Master of Mankind. You portrayed it wonderfully as always. Well and truly on par and in some cases even better than the Black Library. Might I ask who your favorite force within each faction is? Imperium, Xenos, and Chaos?
If there is one thing I do like about recent custodes lore, is how compassion is not lost on some of them. Like shield captain Achallor. That scene when he wrapped his cloak around a cold guards men was touching.
I really adore the part of the Custodian's training that demands they be intriguing and engaging conversationalists for a mind as vast and ancient as the Emperor's. Like. Think about that for a while.

I kitbashed mine using Trajann Valoris and using apoxie sculpt to make a face plate on a warden helmet to make it look like Kitten’s. Lol

Hour long film on the golden janitors, we are blessed.
At first I was experiencing sadness at the direction the story was going with the Custodes ending an entire chapter without explanation until the very last of them remain, but my gosh the reveal at the end.. perfectly delivered! It makes perfect sense! And that voice over for the Custodes pretty much what I imagined what a Custodes would sound like in my head
What's the reveal?
The Custodes behave as both Lions fighting alone to instant unit tactics like wolves.
You could look at two Custodes and rightly assume both are great warriors, but one is a talented mathematician and the other a historian.
And the historian goes by the name kitten

I had dropped off the 40K radar recently what with work, the birth of my son and a couple of other bits.
It’s videos like this that reminded me why I got into it and Custodes specifically.
I’ve only been on the scene for 18 months but the lore and all that good stuff is just wonderful to listen to and think about.

indeed the Astartes and the Custodes are both tools
but the first are meant to be mass produced, used, then discarded
the second are crafted with love and care, meant to be the sharpest of tool, the most prized of possessions.
Custodes where so obscure and hinted at lore till the Horus Heresy series and Chris Wraight have made them such a great and amazing faction of demigod warriors in a universe of chaos and war.
Edit: great video Baldemort I already have a Custodes force but listening to you makes me love them even more.

@@raymanx187 oh I was considering scaling down and doing the Fabulous Custodes. If I were to do the stilts one I’d practice the absolute hell out of the stilts in order to get it fluid since the custodes are said to move gracefully

Most surprising to me when I joined the WH40K universe was how the Custodes are portrayed to be incredibly smart and wise. Abundance of knowledge and skill. All humanity could strive towards and as close to the emperor as possible.

I really did get that feeling of disdain the custodes had for astartes while reading Master of Mankind. You portrayed it wonderfully as always. Well and truly on par and in some cases even better than the Black Library. Might I ask who your favorite force within each faction is? Imperium, Xenos, and Chaos?

If there is one thing I do like about recent custodes lore, is how compassion is not lost on some of them. Like shield captain Achallor. That scene when he wrapped his cloak around a cold guards men was touching.
