  • Simply Extraordinary, the Tomb of Mehu, chief justice and vizier dates to the 6th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, reign of King Teti 2345 - 2323 B.C.
The pyramid of Unas was built in the 5th Dynasty: very significant for having the first example of funerary texts known as Pyramid Texts. These texts were inscribed on the walls of the burial chamber and assisted the deceased pharaoh in his journey to the afterlife through instructive spells.
Saqqara, 3rd Dynasty, planned by a genius named Imhotep, who served as chancellor to king Djoser. The pharaoph not only placed his mortuary complex at the site of Saqqara, different location from his predecessors but, the complex he developed with Imhotep would impact all royal memorial monuments made after his.
Among the innovations: the first stepped pyramid instead of a single mastaba (a flat, rectangular tomb form) and the first to combine both mortuary and ritual buildings.
