I found the SP version of the Roadsmart 4 better than the Michelle pilot roads. I’ve a Ducati Streetfighter V4s . Slight more aggressive bike though! They’re excellent.
I initially thought that the RoadSmart IVs were a close contender to the Michelin PR series. And, in the dry, they are probably better, certainly more sporty feeling. But, after about 4,000 miles (6,000 km), the wet weather handling falls off a cliff and they become quite squirrelly in the wet, especially when lent over even just a little (could be the weight of the FJR). As I now rarely ride in the wet, I'll keep them. Probably go to Pirelli Angel II next (Neevesy likes them).
@@riderramblingsfacts 😂 There may be a difference in the SP and GT version as well. GT stiffer?! To handle the heavier bike perhaps? I never tried the GT. the SP just feels amazing when banked, never had a hairy moment on them unlike 2 Pirelli versions I’ve had. I don’t do rain if I have a choice. I don’t commute on a bike so I have that luxury. I’d never have the balls to test ANY tire to its limit when the road is wet.
Tried one on the back of my FJR. Similar conclusion. Not confidence inspiring in the wet. Didn’t last like a Michelin does. Ok in gravel, but I don’t think it’s better that a Michelin. All in all it’s a decent tire, but why not spend a wee bit extra and have the best?

No tire will last past 6k on the Sfv4. I’d consider 6 k excellent 😂
@@markholmes5695 I was lucky to get 3,000 miles out of a rear on my CBR. Sport Tourers don't go through tyres quite as quickly.

@@markholmes5695 The GT have stiffer sidewalls.
My riding style seems to test the limits without me trying. Maybe I need to grow up? 😁
