- A demonstration of the steps required to install a communication radio in the panel of your home built aircraft. By using the proper components and cabling, this installation task is a lot easier than many builders think!

I have the same radio but an older version, I incorporated the welded in rack on my Aeronca into the installation just because it was already there.
Thanks a great help for me from me here Zimbabwe ..
It's funny to me that someone is confident enough to build an aluminum flying machine and launch themselves off the earth, but soldering some wires is scary.
Very informative video.
Very nice!!
Great advice! How would the intercom play into this?
Is the 4-screw mount strong enough for, say, 6g? As you said in your header tank video, you have to account for the maximum g loading. I assume that goes for every component.
Anyone have a link to the prebuilt cord? For the FL-760?
I was just wondering where do you get the wiring harness I've been looking online but maybe you have a better access The ones I looked at are not complete with the Mike plugins
Nice video Jon, I wish I had this a year ago. But as I watch it, everything is explained well, except how to wire the PPT "loose wire." Since a PTT button has 2 connections, I was wondering how you'd wire that up. Keep 'em coming! A video on fuel sloshing would be nice (unless I missed that one). Bert
The PTT wire from the harness goes to either wire of the PTT switch. The other wire from the PTT switch goes to ground!
How do you like your Zenith STOL 750? What engine did you put in it?
Hello can you make video of how to change trig ty96 radio in to you aircraft. As I am planning to buy one soon thanks
4 Screws mean nothing on a weak panel, nor does it solve the problem of a lack of space behind the panel. Decker is the only one that will remove mount.
You didn’t mention a KEEP-ALIVE wire to save your frequencies when the avionics switch is turned off.
Why does this radio 📻 not allow intercom talk while other traffic is going?
I just purchase a tomahawk. Is it legal to install my own radio on this GA aircraft?
If it is a certified aircraft you need to be an FAA licensed airplane mechanic to do any work outside preventative maintenance listed in the FARs part 43 appendix C.
Where can you purchase a prebuilt wiring harness for a Becker 4201?
Google: "becker 4201 wiring harness" and tell me what you find. Its that simple!
@@HomebuiltHELP I'm aware of the google. I just thought since you mentioned it in your video and showed an example, you might know of a good company to purchase from and thus provide a recommendation
Telling us to buy a wiring harness isn't very helpful.
I wont buy an aircraft instrument that doesn't have all the pinouts labeled on the unit itself. 10-20 years from now, long after the company is out of business, who is going to know the pinouts on that connector on the rear. You see a lot of old junk like this on ebay for used aircraft instruments....there's no telling what pin does what any more.
Why could you not do that yourself when you buy it? Draw up your own diagram on an Avery label and stick it to the top of the unit.
Label maker + 20 minutes = problem solved.
