Bet you didnt expect someone in 2023 to be watching this whilst looking for a second hand car. ***Update I bought the Skoda 1.4, 2015 reg after watching the video in 2023. Now it's Oct 2024 and I'm very happy with my purchase. No issues. No nothing. Love the car.
@@ahronsumar5075 I actually bought one 1 year ago, after my first comment 😅 I'd highly recommend them. I purchased the 1.4 2015 version in blue. They feel a little lower than competitor vehicles. It feels as low as maybe a hatchback, but with much more comfort and incredible space throughout the car
I have the older octavia and done 350.000 km with it and no problem at all! I didn't have any issues with it it's a great car and the fuel consumption it's incredible, even more considering the size of the car
Haha,my dad is a cab driver, and while we went to the dealer to service my Yeti, while waiting he was introduced to this car.... He ended up ordering a mid-spec SE model after 2 days :D
:) Classic. I'm from Czech republic and I always drove Skodas (Favorit, Felicia, Estelle - I'm young, so I have old cars.) I'm happy you like the cars and that they are cheap for you. Unfortunately, in our country Skoda puts the prices very high, because they simply can afford to...
@@Badwarrior5 Well, they're not what you would cool, but they are good. I bet the parents of the teens that pick on other, who drive Skodas, drove Ladas back in the days of the cold war...
I couldn't agree more, it's absolutely brilliant, it takes from you all the stress that you usually accumulate while driving in the city, yet he said that you have to operate brakes, throttle and gears, I wish it was 100% automatic
Gotta say the parking assist was impressive....I think we are getting used to seeing cars that can parallel park themselves but I've never seen a review of one before that can un-park itself and also park into a normal space for you too.....they always were good value though even before VW got them!
It looks much better in person than on videos, especially in silver color, which fits it best by far, I would not sell this car in any other color. And interior is just so well made, it feels like an Audi inside. Its definitely higher in quality than the current Passat, and almost as good as the new Golf or A3.
have one with the 1.8 tsi 180hp manual and it's an excellent car, with 17 inch wheels, a perfect balance of space, confort, sportiness-ish, great engine, etc, etc, etc.
I can't think of any reasons to buy a Golf or a Passat over this, so well done Skoda! I can't even think of any reasons to buy a Superb over this, as you shouldn't need a car bigger than this Octavia. Apart from the somewhat awkward proportion, it's a good looking car.
Had two Skoda's an octavia and a fabia, fabia new, octavia two yrs old when I got it-neither fully broke down or ever failed to get me home but both had one electrical issue after another-there will never be a third....VAG group are where Mercedes was 15 years ago.
The VA Group is setting the bar really high even for its "cheap" cars. With SEATs and Skodas looking good on the outside as well as on the inside and having such a quality feel to them, it's gonna get hard to compete with them.
Yooka: Hi, I’m Yooka, and your video review made lots of sense. I’m getting this tomorrow at midday, Laylee is coming with me, and I think I might go for either the optional nets, or the optional armrest. I’m not kidding... By the way, I’m actually getting the used 2014 estate model. A day later... Yooka: Okay, what are my thoughts? Well, the boot is MASSIVE!, AKA the biggest in class, I also went for the optional nets to stop my things rolling about all over the place. And before you ask, yes, I got the more practical still estate version from 2014, and, in the rear, I have lots of room, so six footers should be just about okay in the rear. As for safety, and the driving experience, etc., well, I got several safety systems, and loads of parking aids, and overall, the driving experience was very sharp. The only problem was at the rear, because the seats didn’t fold completely flat. In fact, they almost did, but they didn’t. Overall, I’m very happy with this Skoda, because it’s a replacement for my Ford Focus Estate from 2012. And ultimately, I think it’s very practical, especially with the biggest boot in its class. Hope this helped. Goodbye. Another day later... (insert ear rape version of "Skoda. Simply Clever." jingle here) 7 months later… Bluey: I don’t actually drive.
But with fully loaded Octavia you get things from Merc C-class which you dont have on entry level Insignia, not even mid range Insignia, some not even on top spec one. For example you have to pay special extra on top spec to get Bi-Xenon headlamps. Which costs about 2 time more than Octavia.
Yes, the spring loaded nets are a massive problem on this car. In fact I've now stopped throwing things into the car from a distance after I almost got hit by my own boomeranging luggage!
Set to debut on July 11, the third-gen Octavia vRS is likely to be powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI engine producing about 220 hp (164 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. There are also talks about a second, more potent version offering 250 hp (186 kW).
You want him to say that Skoda is bad even if its good? Its a great car, thats a fact. Go test drive one and you will see that everything about it (except styling) is as good as it gets in its class and some things are even better than in cars of segment above.
I didn't say that it makes the car worse. To me, resale value is important, I don't want to lose a load of money on my car when I come to change it. All I know is that both my parents got new cars around the same time - dad got an Octavia and mum an A3. Three years down the line and the A3 has lost less money than the Octavia. - Which undoubtably will be sold to taxi firm, where so many of these cars appear to end up. Plus, the A3 is such a nicer car!
I guess you're talking about the Seat Exeo... well, you're right in that case. But the other models are as new as a Polo/A1/Fabia, Golf/A3/Octavia. The good old Alteas will be replaced soon - I guess when a new Golf Plus comes out - if ever. Also a Skoda Yeti cousin will be appearing some time soon me thinks. Have a good day! :)
I thought that it would be a bit unpleasend to drive with the simple rear suspension, but it's actually pretty good. I'm curious if there is gonna be a big difference between the ride of the octavia Combi and the Golf 7 estate/wagon/station/variant because of the rear suspension.
Petrols have always given better refinement whereas diesels have given bettermpg so most people now go for diesels. However, petrols are now catching up in terms of mpg, so I wonder if in a few years people will start switching back to petrols.
Both the Octavia and Superb are great cars but cars like the Insignia are in a class of its own and only Ford and VW owners wouldn't appreciated that - if you dig a little you will see it is the most awarded car considering reliability and Opel has less running costs than any of its competitors, it also doesn't have exterior paint in the interior (like the top of the line Octavia), the highway performance is also on great level and it doesn't feel vague with soft steering and suspension, etc....
Good. I know diesels are much better than what they were, but petrols are still better refined. In the UK people in recent years have been buying diesels only because the VED is lower. I wish we could get some better petrol engines. I want an Audi A5 TFSi.
Actually it is, Skodas are always based on VWs or Audis sometimes the current models, often previous gen. cars. The Octavia for instance is based on the Passat, the Yeti is based on the Tiguan the citigo on the up etc. And for instance the Superb is based on the previous A5 at least it alsways has been don't know if it's the same now. Skodas are "just" stipped down cheap VWs/Audis. VWs are the base for "avarge" costumers, Audi for wealthyer ones. And Skoda and Seat are the cheaper line.
Are u sure? Rapid shares platform with Polo sedan (or saloon) which is not in sale in the UK. But Octavia shares the platform with Jetta, Golf and Seat Toledo.
unfortunately the VW group had some problems with the timing chain on the 1.2 tsi ...the engine that carbuyer keeps recommending. I know that the new octavia has a timing belt now...but only time can tell if it is durable .
