I was never that impressed with her. I was also skeptical of the fairy tale marriage. It was obvious from the beginning that she was basically a brood mare. And she was certainly not the Saint people want to make her out to be. Never believed any of the BS about how the RF or even the paparazzi murdered her.

People have come to realize that the real love story was that of Charles and Camila. She is the love of his life. He loved Diana as a human being and the mother of his children, but youth and beauty didn't changed his love for Camila. I am glad to see them happy at last.

Love these deep dives into the stories and myths we all know so well. Diana was a total drama queen, and desperate for attention - I don't wonder that Charles just wouldn't buy into it. By the time Andrew Morton wrote his book - Diana was in full retaliation mode, and she certainly wasn't above twisting things to make her look hard done by, and to get the public on board. It was a very destructive gift that she had, and she certainly used it.

This is a very simplistic take. We are not all doomed to be clones of our parents, even though some traits are inherited. If we’re assigning characteristics (blame) where is Charles in the toxic mix then? Harry’s vehement detractors don’t seem to ever want to acknowledge that Charles was an absent father and not a very nice man in his own right. Nor that William is not a paragon who belongs on a pedestal. Both sides in this saga seem incapable of being impartial in even the smallest details. This tendency to lay this all at the feet of a dead woman is misguided and distasteful.

Diana, like Meghan, always gave whichever version of a story she thought would best serve her ends. There are far, far more similarities between Diana and Harry's wife than people realise, and not in a good way. Both manipulative, using the paparrazi for their own ends, changing their story, flat-out denial of proven facts, wilful blackening of the name and reputation of anyone in their sights, ostracising those they deem to have crossed them, discarding people no longer of use, love-bombing people - especially staff - to get them on side and improve her image ("my rock" Paul Burrell?) - Harry really has married his mother.

    • @OdeInWessex
      @OdeInWessex ปีที่แล้ว +17

Couldn't agree more, however, it's worth also pointing out that Diana had a truly awful childhood that damaged her in quite significant ways and that caused serious mental health issues long before she married Charles. She probably wanted someone to 'rescue' her, something Charles was simply not qualified to do.

I believe that a large, and maybe larger, part of his 'trauma' is a pitty play to excuse his bad behavior.

One of the biographers that accompanied Charles for a couple of months said that Princes run into Charles's arms as enthusiasticly as they run into Diana's. Photogrsphers just were interested.
That was bc the press was not interested. Threir narrative for the public consumption getting them higher ads revenues was StDiana vs villains Charles and Camilla. Although nobody accused Diana of lying when she admitted on Panorama that she was the first to take lover.

The commonality between Diana and Meghan is this: neither one ever admits that they might have done better, or made some kind of error, or are capable of being fallible. They rearrange the deck chairs--even in retrospect--in a way that erases weakness and casts them in the heroic role. I believe Diana's subtext in almost everything--good or bad--she did was to earn back the love of a father who cruelly abandoned her. As for Meghan, who the heck knows....!

She was also the first one to have affairs. I’m really starting to think that all of the blame Charles has endured for years is really unfounded for the most part. Maybe he was insensitive and maybe even cold but she sounds like she was an absolute nightmare to deal with and people didn’t understand mental health issues in the same way we do now. This is such a sad story. One of an arranged marriage between unsuited people. They were so different - she was young and inexperienced and he was older and been around quite a bit. They had totally different interests. On top of that, while it seems Diana did love Charles, it was not reciprocated in the same way. I have no doubt he cared for her, but she was chosen by their families because she was suitable to be a virgin bride and to provide heirs. The environment in which Charles grows up made him spoilt and selfish to a certain extent. He expected his life to continue as before, whereas Diana wanted the family life she missed as a child. I don’t think we will ever know the extent of their misery; suffice to say they were an ill matched couple. However, two boys were the result of the union, one of which, William, is a credit to his parents and his country.

You only have to look at the way Diana and her siblings treated their step mother. She wasn't all sweetness all the time. Maybe they didn't get along with their step mother for reasons we are not aware of but she had faithfully nursed their father for a number of years prior to his death. It takes a particularly cold hearted person to literally throw an elderly lady out of her home with her belongings in rubbish bags just two days after her husband's death.
Diana only mended her relationship with her step mother after her separation from Charles. Maybe the plan was to get as many people on her side as she could muster? Who knows.

The more stories I hear about Diana’s antics, lies and self absorption, it cements the fact that people can be exceptionally beautiful on the outside and exceptionally ugly on the inside! Sad that Harry is now reliving his father’s life with the same kind of woman. With the exception that Diana was naturally physically beautiful and Meghan is a surgically altered beauty.

Postpartum depression is a serious condition that Lady Diana suffered from, including anxiety and suicidal thoughts. She married too young, and became pregnant too soon, hardly knew Prince Charles and felt lost in a Royal Family environment. Everything was done seemingly in a hurry to see Charles finally married and become a father. As we know today, all went wrong. In the meantime, MM read everything about Diana and as usual she has no original thoughts: she decided to copy paste Diana exactly with the same symptoms but not the stairs in case "these were successful" ... if you know what I mean. She is a liar and on that note, she disrespected Diana big time. *Look forward to your input Shauna* 😊 Greetings from Cairns 🐟🌴🥭🦘

Like Meghan, Diana’s narcissistic traits also led to a lie about self harm meant to get sympathy and make her “enemies” look like horrible, cruel, people who could care less about her or the results of their mistreatment. But UNLIKE Meghan, though indefensibly delayed, Diana does seem to have eventually realized how selfish, unacceptable, and wrong it would have looked for her to throw such a tantrum in order to get what she wanted that she’d even think about doing something so dangerous while pregnant. While Meghan’s never appeared to have realized how selfish, cruel, irresponsible, and egotistical her claims about seriously considering self-checkout while so far along actually sound to sane people. Not to mention the claim that she’d supposedly made Harry suffer through her telling him exactly how she was planning to do it in graphic detail if he was ever to leave her alone again.

Tripping down stairs while running, with a pregnant uterus

When Diana did that panorama interview, william was furious with her for slandering his father and admitting having multiple affairs ( which leads to fellow students bullying him).
William didn't talk to her for couple of weeks.
Diana even accused william of spaying on her on behalf his father ( martin Bashir with fake proofs made her so paranoid that she thought her staff, her siblings and even her son were spaying on her) william was so mad at her and, he told her ,if she think like that , then he will now only live with his father after that she apologise to him.
Diana was also jealous of William and Harry's nanny Tiggy( who was favourite of william and Harry).
Diana falsely accused Tiggy of having affair with charles which aslo infuriated william.

It has emerged that Diana was a troubled soul from a very young age and reportedly self harmed - speculation is that it stemmed from her mother abandoning the family putting her own emotional health and happiness before her children. Similarly Diana throwing herself downstairs was all about her with no thought for unborn baby William. The more I watch reruns of her old interviews the more I see where Harry gets his professional and eternal victim hood from.

You can see in various photo's and things of Diana looking wistful and sad, and I have heard from journalists, who say, she posed deliberately like this, then as soon as it was finished, she got up and walked away laughing.

I think Harry and Meghan are slowly tarnishing Diana's memory, by revisiting old stories, or trying to replicate them. Because now we are looking at them, with our mindsight, in modern times, making Diana look very manipulative, and Charles in a better light. God knows what William must make if these things resurfacing, no wander he cant forgive Harry, he opened this can of worms.

  • @marywest2896

I think that the reason Harry is not the sharpest knife in the drawer could be the eating habits of Diana at the time....I loved Diana but I don't think those boys life would necessarily be better off if she had lived, God forgive me for saying this, with all the shenanigans that the two did to one up each other, they created a chaotic and combative atmosphere, and acted like two teenagers feuding...I wonder how long it would have taken for peace to come to that family, if it would have ever come....for one sure thing the boys would have been the ones to suffer, even more waiting for the peace to come after the divorce.... to me Harry has not been able to face any possible negative behavior of his mother, he has to make her a saint and demonize Charles and Camilla, William may be the same way, but he has it corralled if he does. Harry doesn't and it shades every aspect of his life, creating bitterness, and distorting reality of his youth after Diana's death...and as we have seen his present life as well...my father would say the following...when a bad man dies he becomes good, when a good man dies he becomes a saint. it's the way we view death...
