This book highlights what depths of betrayal Charles and William must have felt towards Harry. After decades of intrusions& being betrayed by being bugged and hacked by governments and newspapers, to then being betrayed by your own son & brother for relaying deliberately damming versions of private conversations and messages! This betrayal & hypocrisy is even worse when you see Harry’s saga in fighting for justice & privacy in his court cases. What a fascinating, eye opening book. Thanks for choosing this book, Shauna.
Wow Shauna! This chapter was as juicy as you promised! How awful for Royal Family members to be aware that they are being spied on even within their own homes. I’ve always thought that it must be terrible to have to live your life under such public scrutiny, but that takes it to a whole different level. No wonder Prince William delayed marrying Catherine for so long, he wanted to be very sure she would cope with that level of scrutiny for the rest of her life. And doesn’t it just put a whole new perspective on the level of Harry’s treachery. Not only have they external scrutiny, but the person you were probably closest to as a child completely betrays you. It all makes me so much more impressed with the way the William and Catherine are trying to conduct their lives.
Do you have Alexa or Siri? How about a cell phone or smart television? I'd wager if you do you even gave them permission to use your camera and mic during setup.
@@chanelfitzgerald if they did, I doubt Megxit would have unfolded the way it did. This book makes me really ponder how Fergie and Andrew are together now. Is it more of a camaraderie formed from being publicly shamed and nowhere else to go? Also, if Diana was alive, would Charles be as popular as he is now. Would all the truth about Diana’s manipulative ways ever come to light or would she have used her power with the press to cover it up? Would she be making Charles and Camilla’s life miserable? The Queen must have worried and suffered so much because of all of their behaviors.
Diana's star was beginning to fade as she was exposing herself for the person she was. Had she not died Charles may well be in an even better position in the hearts of his subjects. 🤷♂️
It does seem as though Di had some real emotional problems which were exacerbated by the leaks - some of which she only has herself to blame! I do remember that stories about what Di was really like had started to come out before the accident but most seemed to disappear after her death. I too wonder IF she hadn't been in the accident and the truth had continued to come out if she would still have been as popular as she was when she did die? As she was a royalist and her son was then 2nd in line to the throne, she might have made waves after QEII died to try & promote Prince William.
Imo if Diana hadn't died, Charles and Camilla would have married alot sooner, because she would have gotten on with her life and blessed the couple's marriage.
I was expecting my daughter when Charles and Diana married, lived the whole story with fascination until the sad end. I could see lots of the manipulative moves and actually felt sorry for both of them. Charles should married Camila at the beginning but Hey Ho. Having read Andrew Lounies books, especially about Mountbatten and Lady Colin Campbell 's book about the Queen Mother, one realises what a mess and what a bunch of ruthless characters managed a pantomime of emotions and image creation. I think her “saintly” status really only came about after her unfortunate demise. Prior to that I remember her being vilified in the press for her paparazzi baiting and her embarrassing performances, the nuisance phone calls from KP to lovers, the attention seeking, the drama causing. I followed everything about Charles and Diana from the wedding onward. This book brings me back to the time when I was buying every newspaper, magazine etc. to follow the stories of the downfall of the 'fairy tale'. Such a great book! Tanks Shauna!
I really enjoy hearing the stories from the people who were actually part of the story from that time. It always seems to make things clearer.❤️TY Shauna
Its history, if people can’t handle that what are they doing here listening to it for. They are the types that want to delete history to their liking, it’s pathetic! I wonder why Sarah said that why is it always her getting into trouble. Was it her victimhood and she didn’t see that if she didn’t do wrong she wouldn’t get into trouble or was she intimating that others around her were also doing similar things yet never had to take any flack for their actions? Hmmm 🤔 😂 Enjoying the book though thanks Shauna 🩷
Hi Shauna-it’s your Orlando fan. Here is my take on the nasty comments. You are terrific at what you do and are getting very popular. Unfortunately, there will always be trolls who take pleasure in trying to destroy your success. It happens to all of us who have the courage to speak our truth and speak it well and loud. I have noticed so many of your comments come from people who are well read, use correct grammar, and sophisticated enough to get your wonderful humor. We love you. In fact, you and Taz are the bright stars in a sky filled with dark clouds. I look forward to all your posts.
I liked Camilla, I always liked Camilla but that could have been because I didnt like Diana, I sometimes felt I was the only person in the whole world who felt like that.
I always had mixed feelings about Diana. I always saw her as an arch game player and very manipulative. She never missed an opportunity to show Charles in a poor light. During the Bashir interview she gave a stellar performance. Her demeanour and makeup (heavily underlined eyes) were calculated to show her as the victim:and it worked. I could not understand how the rest of the world couldn’t see what I saw. She did many good things but I never felt sure it was for the right reasons. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt on that one but I don’t think she was a very nice person. She certainly didn’t care about what her affairs did to the wives of her many lovers.
I was always in two minds about Diana. I though she was attention seeking, but started to think more favourably about her when a friend from my home town told me that Diana had phoned up a family whose son had been killed in the Falklands war to offer her condolences. That revised my opinion of her, that she did a lot of very kind gestures behind the scenes. Unlike her youngest son and his wife who seem to be incapable of doing anything without courting publicity.
@@Alexaklr I wasn’t a fan, but every time my in -laws went back to Italy for a holiday I had to watch and record every episode for my M-i-L, so kept an eye on it. This ties in with alot of my memories of that time. With this book, you can understand where Diana's paranoia came from, it was awful how their privacy was so compromised and by agencies that should have respected that.
How odd to get flack from reading and talking about a book written by someone else. What an interesting book with such detailed information. As your knowledge is so vast on the Royals, it is so helpful to have you read this and remind or tell us in the first place some of the background or how people are connected. Just WOW, being bugged in their private residence by the government! And H blames Camilla KNOWING this has happened? It does give you a glimpse of how and why the RF is so tight knit and once trust is broken there is no going back. Also, knowing this I would not want to live in one of the palaces but in a smaller home where I would have a private security team sweep for bugs every damn day! Perhaps that is why William and Catherine choose to live in the cottage?
I don’t think Henry has his head around the real story yet. He said he didn’t really remember his mother and asked her friends about her, so his story probably is a highly garbled version of the truth.👎🥱👋🇦🇺
I can't believe that even in Highgrove, C & D were being recorded. I can now see where a bit of D's paranoia came from. Very interesting. I am so enjoying this book, very interesting the back story and insight from another perspective. While you are talking, I am so gobsmacked at the time lines. C & D having an argument in 1992 and literally 5 years later D's is dead. Its just so surreal still. Brilliant series. Huge fan of your book series.
Good lord - how can anyone say hateful things about your content. You cult leaders dont have it easy but us Shaunaettes are behind you every step of the way. Emphasis on the behind so you get all the flack 😂 Love you and your shows. This book is great!
Keep reading the interesting books to us Shauna. Its great to hear the back story of a period of time we all lived through from different perspectives. The haters clearly don't know how thick skinned an Aussie can be.
Shauna, really enjoying this book reading, thank you for doing it! Having lived through all of these dramas here in the UK, and being just 5 months older than Diana, naturally it's very interesting to get the behind-the-scenes insights into what has really gone on. I had always thought that Diana had been dealt a poor hand; young, beautiful and naive, little more than the 'right' kind of breeding stock to ensure the next generation. However, it's fascinating to discover that perhaps there was a lot more manoeuvring and social jiggery-pokery on her own account in securing her position as the wife of the future King. Gripping stuff! Looking forward to the next instalment. 😊
I'm no Harry fan but you can understand his feelings toward the press when they behave like this. It was interesting to learn that Charles and Diana's marriage was a calculated affair because, thinking about it years later, I came to the conclusion that Diana was more in love with being Princess of Wales than with Charles.
The Spencers had a long history of trying to marry into the Royal Family to raise their profile among the nobility, since the time of Sarah Churchill in the 18th century. She tried to marry off her granddaughter to one of the Georges, but it didn’t work.👎🇦🇺👋😉
@christineharding4190 It explains why, when she decided Charles was not fit to rule, she thought she and Andrew should be co-regents for William if he was still under-age when HMQE2 passed on! She would be (almost) Queen one way or another!😂👎🇦🇺👋
Well done Shauna. My takeaway from the recorded conversation is that Charles finds decisions challenging. That might be his temperament plus the fact that every detail has always been decided for him per his royal position. I remember all this - every day there was a new RF scandal. I used to worry about the Queen’s mental health as a mother! AND clearly the intelligence services have the juice on Harry and Meghan.
Keep it up Shauna, I got hold of a copy that I've read but it's lovely to get your insights. A sad time for the royals but the very likely truth is so useful.

I really enjoy hearing the stories from the people who were actually part of the story from that time. It always seems to make things clearer.❤️TY Shauna
Good morning Shauna! It’s a record cold here in Florida🥶, so I am bundled under a blanket☕️ in hand ready for your book chat!
Sip! From the Tampa Bay area 🥶🧊🧊🧊
Hmmm 🤔 😂
Enjoying the book though thanks Shauna 🩷
Good morning, Shauna, a pot of steaming Darjeeling. SIPping and listening.
I was the same
Not the only one😀. I found her attention-seeking since the beginning and rather manipulative. Very immature. Didn't like her either.
@@Maureen-cc3pl Yes - that sums it up perfectly
Good morning. I love these reviews so much. Thank you ❤
You tell em Shauna!!. Too many nutters about - keep going, I'm loving it!!
Loving it😂❤ like sand through the hourglass these are the days of our lives😖
😂
I used to love that show.
Classic....😁
@@Alexaklr I wasn’t a fan, but every time my in -laws went back to Italy for a holiday I had to watch and record every episode for my M-i-L, so kept an eye on it. There were so many Characters and it often moved so slowly! MY life seems to be moving at sprint pace at the moment compared to that series!😃👍🇦🇺👋
Enjoying the book.
This ties in with alot of my memories of that time. With this book, you can understand where Diana's paranoia came from, it was awful how their privacy was so compromised and by agencies that should have respected that.
I had no idea of the extent they were listened to...
How odd to get flack from reading and talking about a book written by someone else. What an interesting book with such detailed information. As your knowledge is so vast on the Royals, it is so helpful to have you read this and remind or tell us in the first place some of the background or how people are connected. Love your book segments, you never disappoint.
So Princess Diana was right about being listened to. She wasn’t paranoid, HA!❤
She was paranoid off being killed
And in the End Diana Killed herself by not wearing a Seatbelt. Very Sad really. But Harry does the same thing. He doesn't use a Seatbelt either.
Happy Friday evening Shauna ! Love your Friday night book reads😅
Wow (9:36)… I wonder if H will sue the UK’s secret service now!?
His got 6 pending cases . According to HG Tudor.
Ha ha yep
Quite right ignore those complainers. They can go elsewhere if they're not happy with your readings. I love them so continue entertaining us followers.
I fell asleep to the sound of your voice Shauna. Awoke this morning to my phone jabbing me in the face. 😂 Love your work Shauna. The haters can scroll on. Many have lost the art of expressing an opinion and exchanging views without attacking people.
The soe tucking episode!!! 😂I love you Shauna! Teasing aside, thank you for your always entertaining and insightful book reviews. I appreciate you! ❤️
This book is really interesting. So much no one knew. Keep going Shauna.
Just remember peeps, Shauna is only the storyteller (and a damn good one), not the writer, nor the publisher. (No nasty comments)
🇦🇺🦘🐨🐍💐❤️
Sew Tucking 🤣😂🤣😂Who got her tongue twisted 😂😂😂
Good lord - how can anyone say hateful things about your content. You cult leaders dont have it easy but us Shaunaettes are behind you every step of the way. Emphasis on the behind so you get all the flack 😂 Love you and your shows. This book is great!
Very enjoyable❣Never mind the maggots❗
Definitely a juicy chapter! Looking forward to next Friday 😊

Keep on reading Shauna I find them all very interesting and it saves me from having to buy and read myself . Love it!!
I love your show, Shauna. Keep up the excellent podcast. More please.
If viewers don’t like what you’re reading, then the simple answer is to not watch. Well done and stay strong
I'm no Harry fan but you can understand his feelings toward the press when they behave like this. It was interesting to learn that Charles and Diana's marriage was a calculated affair because, thinking about it years later, I came to the conclusion that Diana was more in love with being Princess of Wales than with Charles.
It does not explain harry’s need to turn around and do the same thing to his own family.
So rather ironic Harry married a gal who leaks information and they both mic up everywhere !
The Spencers had a long history of trying to marry into the Royal Family to raise their profile among the nobility, since the time of Sarah Churchill in the 18th century. She tried to marry off her granddaughter to one of the Georges, but it didn’t work.👎🇦🇺👋😉
Diana was too young and believed in fairy tales. Her wedding dress was evidence of that.
@christineharding4190 It explains why, when she decided Charles was not fit to rule, she thought she and Andrew should be co-regents for William if he was still under-age when HMQE2 passed on! She would be (almost) Queen one way or another!😂👎🇦🇺👋
I love the book. Yes I remember all the scandals 😄. Hugs from sunny Qld 👸🦘🦘🌏⛱️
5:00 that is scary about Princess Diana being chased by nefarious people
Keep it up Shauna, I got hold of a copy that I've read but it's lovely to get your insights. A sad time for the royals but the very likely truth is so useful.

Hi Shauna been waiiting patiently for this week's book chat. It's incredibly sad that to live in paranoia of bugs in your home. Diana went to her grave being named and shamed. Sad indeed

It’s history, you can’t deny it! Great book, thanks Shauna!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. The greatest thing about Charles and Diana….. Prince William🥰🥰🥰
👏👏👏👍👍👌🇦🇺👋
@ 🇨🇦👋🏻
Some people in the press complain William and Catherine are boring, I bet the late Queen and Prince Philip plus the Palace press office were pleased. No salacious stories for the press, even though Meg tried her best to start one.
The Sussex Sugars are still trying to rake up mud about Catherine and William, propaganda from California I believe!👎🤨😐🫢😖🇦🇺👋
Hi Sauna, I wasn’t really interested about hearing this book, but I decided to give it a go, as I like your personality and presentation style so much. I’m so glad I decided to give it a go, I’m loving it. Thank you Shauna ❤ 🇬🇧 xx
