to be more specific, it's because "CONTINUE" is a common phrase in Arcade games. rendering english characters in pixel form is way easier than japanese, which has such complex and varied characters.

In animes. its just a dictionary form verb. i have to say that for any haters that might read. they always scrapping for a fight over anime japanese 😢🤡 But anyhow whenever japanese use english, its because its cool popular... and they love america, western culture in general.😢 Anything english always hits. Really theres no other reason imo.
