I'm buying domed sticks for my ps4 controller because it feels alot better for me. Sony never should've went away from the convex style. Will probably buy them from your guys website
Guys, please help me. I was gutted when I bought a DS4 a few weeks ago to be horrified over what they did to the thumb sticks, and SonyPS customer services has been exceptionally unhelpful. I need convex sticks, but I just don't know what to get. I am in the UK, and I can see the caps for sale (although they might not feel solid and may slip about), and I can also see on ebay actual sticks with magnetic thumb pieces, but really and honestly, all I want is convex sticks just like I had on the DS3 that I can just fit into this controller. I am flabbergasted that Sony did not make convex alternatives. 20 years we were happily using the convex style. Crazy. Please help anyway
@@DaveThompsonfairlife4all Just buy what this guy is selling on the Battle Beaver website. I've been using these domed sticks in my DS4 for years and they're a game changer. The stock sticks are awful.
The DualShock 3 was my personal favorite due to the stick tension and the convexed thumbsticks, though most people didn't like the DS3 because it was quite small compared to the 360 conttoller.
Just installed them, what a difference. I used only 1 on each controller (right side only) I snipe allot and this really makes a difference. Also ordered a second pack for my imagine customs controller, to replace the sticks. Great job!
You made that look so easy. I just wanted to see if I could take it apart while I wait on order. This controller didn't want to come apart but I finally got it.
Im so happy with my sticks I made a video about them and linked Battle Beaver Customs in the video. These sticks are seriously the best. Thank you so much!
A week ago I found the rubber stopper on the floor - didn't know what it was, assumed it's part of a broken mechanical pencil - threw it out ;) Now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't have ^
Chris thank you so much for this video. My BattleBeaverCustoms controller thumbsticks broke and you guys replaced them quickly. This video was much appreciated so I could replace the broken sticks. Thank you again for the great product and dedication
I just installed these in my ps4. finally the controller feels right. amazing product took only 3 days to receive. Fantastic company and I will order again.
Awesome video! After seeing it I ordered these thumbsticks and just put them in. My 20th Anniversary DualShock 4 now feels like a proper PlayStation controller. Thanks for making these available.
Great video, it's so enjoyable to watch someone take something apart perfectly, shows how many times you've done it. Thanks for the tips with removing the shell, messing around with the triggers is always the worst part, and now thats eliminated. Keep up the good work pal, hope these thumbsticks sell well for you!
I Just want to share, while these are fantastic thumbsticks and very comfortable to use, they are also VERY SOFT, the black sticks I have feel very rubbery soft. I am not a streamer and have worn through the rubber to the plastic on both sticks in a short amount of time. Be prepared to take apart your controller every 6 months to replace these sticks.
Well done, everything that could of gone wrong, did go wrong. One of the screws wouldn't come out for some reason, The R2 spring fell out twice and I lost the rubber once. But its done and looks good.
Awesome, after watching this video, i went and bought the dome analogs from the battlebeaver site. Will follow this video to change my analogs to the domed type.
Just ordered a set as my left thumbstick is going to hell pretty fast. Will try it out and see how I like it. If it works well I think I know what I'm buying some friends for Christmas!
It turns out that at least for my 2 controllers, the rubber stopper was just a plastic piece that was stuck to the rest of the controller, so it wouldn't come off. I thought I had lost it at first. These sticks are great.
Something to be careful of, if it takes force to take the back off be careful as there are two springs that are attached to the L2 and R2 buttons (they fit in little grooves on the front part of the controller) if you open it with too little care those little buggers will fling off and are nigh impossible to find. Luckily I had a spare controller to swap them out and they don't seem too hard to replace.
Looks good! My toddler loves chewing on the soft rubber sticks :( But these look like hard plastic, which he can't bite through! Yes! I need these in my life!
Picture this your next product upgrade. Make the stick shaft a bearing to eliminate wear to the pad & lines on the stick shaft, u can use vaseline as lube for the bearing, imagine an inverted countersunk allen key bolt of say M4-M5 (Revised 1/4" imperial countersunk bolt allows as small as 9mm bearing size plus has just under 4mm hex hole) Tap or drill out imbed a Lock nut in the base of a mushroom top or some form of thread in the moulding process for assembly, the trick would be finding the right size allen key hole to fit the innerds of the pad shaft tightly its about 4mm 1/4" imperial bolt may just do it un tested?, then a dust cap say a domed curtain pole end of the right diameter cut in half drilled filed to copy or even use the old DS4 stick dust cap end drilled out, what else could u need a few 9mm diameter extension shafts with male & female threaded ends the female end could have a raised washer style centre detail to not bind on the bearing outer wall & little piece of rubber in the end to resist unwinding mid play, maybe a small washer between the dust cap & bearing if its needed because of the countersunk angle natural fall away from the bearing. Then "VOLA!" Uve created an interchangeable stick system across current platforms that use the same mounting detail am i right?, production costs permiting, cut me in for say 10% of sales? ship me 4 prototypes, i came to u with this gem make it happen Battle Beaver! lol. Ive clearly given it far to much thought.
Oh my god. Thank you so much for existing and making these. I've hated convex thumbsticks forever because I grew up with PS1 and PS2, and I loved when Evil Controllers came around so I could replace my xbox 360 thumbsticks with proper dome sticks, but they don't make them for X1 or PS4. Do you guys ship to Ilinois? Because if so, then SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
Sticks installed easy enough, reassembly was tricky, but the biggest problem is that the sticks no longer recenter automatically, often getting stuck at the edge, my try some silicon lubricant.
Try pushing down on them firmly like a L3 click, and also if you open it back up, run your finger around the bottom wide edge. Sometimes the mold leaves some burrs. And I have been told that if you loosen the one screw that holds the board down about a turn that will help if they rub.
Only do this if you have experience with previous attempts or another controller. I did this on my battlebeaver and I'm probably going to have to send it in now.
Please i need help i hate ps 4 sticks hurts my fingers when playing with bf4 or cod aw so can i just tale out my ps3 thumbsticks and install them to ps4 controller without any problems ?? Will it work smoothly on ps4 ??
sixteenstone007 You wont be able to tell the difference, meaning it's great! I use them to game three times a week for two hours at a time, and there's NO signs of any wear & tear. I highly advise to purchase these if you like the old PS3 domesticks on the controller!
Yeah Sony should've kept the original dome thumbsticks that they've been using for three gnerations. Hopefully Sony will go back to this design with the inevitable PS5.

Guys i found a solution you have to open up your Dualshock 4 controller and take the left analog stick out [it is easily detachable] so its just the *tact switch* is left and then close it back . The issue is with the rubber analog joystick being ON - it doesnt register the input fully as it is caught within the manuovreable area . This is a temporary solution leaving the *tact switch* bare as ive found out. Also the quickest way to check your DS4 Responsiveness is: on Windows 7/8/9 Control Panel>Device & Printers> computer will search and download Driver for DS4>Select Wireless Controller unde Devices [right click to select Game Controller Settings]
After 6 months of use the rubber top caps have perished worn down on the left stick back edge only, the one i run with so i pulled the rubber off. Then prized the rubber caps off of an official Dualshock 3 fits on snuggly as a fix, if i had the tools ide mod a set of Dualshock 3 sticks dirrectly thin down the centre stem to 9mm on some form of lathe set up then cut or sand the dust cup back to the same diameter as the official DS4 just under 25mm in some sort of jig, make them puker & square. Drill a whole through a piece of MDF same size or tight to the top thumbstick rubber cap on a piller drill tested to be square & true then change the drill to the dust cap end size 25mm? drill it just deep enough that the stick dome touches all around now cut with a hacksaw blade flat to the MDF face making sure the stick is pushed in tight with 1 finger, dont go mad & cut your finger off, then sand or file across the top, pack it back out if it falls right in. The stem thining will take more work a seriouse jig to do it right & keep it true. A sharp 5-6mm chisel? battery drill & a 4mm rod with 2 flat sides to fit in the end of the stick to rotate it a steady hand & luck a thick piece of wood with a 4mm hole through it drilled square to the surface a friend to push the drill trigger some vaseline or wax to make that all spin freely 1 thumb to keep it tight to the wood on the mushroom the other with a chisel working off of something hard, ow a bench vise or clamp or 2 wouldnt go a miss either if it all works out then slap it in the pad to see if the height off the pod worked out lol.
Duuude same, i just bought some and im having the same freakin problem, pushed em down as far as possible and they still rub like crazy! Where you able to find a fix or nah?
I sent in my dualsense a few months ago and since receiving the finished product, I have been really happy with the back button placement, however I’ve had a really rough stick drift with my right thumb-stick (I acknowledge I’m outside of my warranty period). I wouldn’t want to scrap the controller for this, but it’s substantial to the point of jittering as opposed to drifting. Any recommendations for repair? Is this usually a stick issue or the control module? Not sure if this helps, but I went with the medium tension in the right stick. Any info from you or the community would be very helpful, thanks!
I successfully swapped mine out. broke the little piece that covers the connection point of the touchpad to the main board, the newer ps4 controllers don't have the "little lever", but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. spring for the left trigger fell out, I just looked at how the spring in the other trigger was set and reinstalled it. Only downside I see is that they are noticeably taller than the stock ps4 thumbsticks, consequentially it takes longer to reach the buttons. As far as the dome is just like ps3!
+Zach Caldwell looks like its attached in the new model of ps4 controller. I like these better than the stock thumbsticks but I feel like they are a little taller than the need to be. Now it takes longer to switch between the thumbsticks and buttons, did you experience that?
I've tried installing them on my battle beaver controller and for some reason when I put the controller back together they're sticking and feel rough like they're not on all the way but I'm pretty certain they're fully on i couldn't get them down any further. Is there something Im doing wrong? And also are you guys able to replace the thumbsticks for me if I send my controller in? And my final question, are there interchangeable thumbsticks that are domed instead of the concave ones? If not that may be a great idea because I love the domed ones.
i see you had xbox one on the ps4 control when i got my xbox one control and removed it from the xbox one i installed them in my ps4 but it didn't fit in nicely and had to end up removing them what did you do to install yours? nicely.
hello, nice vid! sub :) have a question though: i'll probably gonna have to change all the thumbstick eletronics (including the base part) do you have any tuts about it? thank you!
For some reason my battle beaver has a screw holding it together that differs from the other 3 and I can't unscrew it with a regular screwdriver .. has anyone else had this issue ??
I must be doing something wrong because I removed the 4 screws and the front part won't come off, it's so hard! I don't want to apply force like crazy and then find out that I broke my only controller. How you guys open it so easily??
Hi, I managed to replace the left stick easily enough but now my X button does not work. Any ideas what I could try? I've reset the controller a few times and that hasn't worked :/
The ribbon between the face buttons and the main board could be out of align. Take the board out and make sure the flex connector is on both pegs properly
i got everything fine i unplug the led light, and the trackpad, install the new thmbsticks plug again all the stuff, wrap it up and the trackpad wont work only by clicking, but if i slice my finger wont do any movements...any thoughts?
Battle Beaver Customs it was a pain in the a$$ since the other end of the trackpad cable was unplugged i had to completely tear down the ds4, then the trackpad, plug and get everything together...twice!!, but at the end it works like a charm. thanks for the suggestion.
sixteenstone007 yeah they do. You also have a little bit more movement with these sticks (better precission) The middle part of the stick is a little tighter. And they are easy to install, just be carefull with touching the mainboard (Make sure you touch something that's grounded before touching the mainboard)
Hey Chris, i used this tutorial to fix my analog sticks and in the process my X button stopped working for some reason, ive tried resetting it and checking to see if i had misplaced something but i dont think i have, any idea what might have happened?
+indcsion nah man I couldn't fix it but I tried it again with another controller n nothing went wrong I think we might have messed up some circuits by doing it too rough and/or touching the inside circuits, I did it very carefully the second time with another controller and it worked
+skyblue carlos I took it apart again then put it back a few more times. Each time something else wasn't working and then last time I put it back it back together everything started working again.
I haven't tried this yet but I will when I get home this evening. The right stick doesn't react when I push it up(forward). Any idea if it could be the right stick or just the controller malfunctioning? Thank you!
This happened beforehand. I did open it up last night and after taking off the right joystick it would actually get stuck when I pushed up(forward) and to the left. Not sure how to go about fixing the actual joystick under the knob so I just bought a couple new ones. I'm going to continue to work on it just to gain some experience and see what happens
Is there a way to not have to completely replace the thumbsticks? Im looking for something like stick on pads that cover the hole in thumb sticks to make them rounded. Thanks if anyone has any suggestions.
Magic Gaming MGGP™ Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up picking up some rounded ORB thumb grips on Amazon that work perfectly. Just what I was looking for.
Hey, I've tried this - followed this tutorial exactly - but I've put my remote back together and now it doesn't work at all?! Not sure what I've done wrong....any help would be appreciated!! Thanks :)
From doing it 1000's of times. The cable you insert next to the battery that goes to the back may have been inserted backwards. Make sure the Plastic part is away from the battery
I have it so the gold is facing the battery and the blue tab is facing outwards...I literally have no idea what's happened it just will not turn on. I've taken it apart several times and rewatched this video and others again and again..... Possibly just a faulty remote and then I fully busted it when I took it apart? Or perhaps I'm just a fool and did it wrong.....lol :(
xb1 thumbsticks can be placed on a ds4. so would the domed xbox one thumbsticks you sell work on the ds4? if so, why is there two different options to buy a xbox one domed stick or a ps4 domed stick? could you just buy the xbox one domed replacement stick and put them on your ds4?
I was playing last of us and my left analog stick wasn't moving smoothly especially diagonally, got to point where I had to replace analog stick. Replaced analog stick, played the game again and the problem still remained... I got no idea how to fix it now
sunny19886 Did it feel like your left stick was scraping against something hard when you were rotating it around? If so my analogs I brought from BBC does it also.
Yes it feels exactly like that, up, down, left, right works well but when you rotate the analog around just to mess around with the player's running, it stops, staggers. I replaced analog sticks too but still this problem occurs.
sunny19886 I honestly thought it was my controller... I exchanged it and it still does it. That's good that I'm not the only one. I even went as far as stuffing some toilet tissue inside the bottom hole of the analog to try to see if a little bit more height would solve the problem but it didn't. I even was sent another pair of set in the mail because the first set I thought was defective but the new pair does the same thing...
Bsquared Luckily for me I got another controller but I've used it for Fifa 15 and Metal gear GZ and it was fine, maybe it's just Last of us, but we definitely need someone to solve that mystery.
+sunny19886 I had the same problem when I switched my Ps4 thumbsticks with the stock xbox one thumbsticks, except it was on my right analog. I don't know why the left analog doesn't feel rough when I move it around, whereas the right one does. Can someone give me a solution to fix this?

i dont wanna take apart my controller.is there any way i can send in my ds4 and have him put in his customed domed sticks?
can u make the dome thumb sticks the same height as the regular ps4 ones????
Can I use scuf sticks for this procedure
I sent in my dualsense a few months ago and since receiving the finished product, I have been really happy with the back button placement, however I’ve had a really rough stick drift with my right thumb-stick (I acknowledge I’m outside of my warranty period). I wouldn’t want to scrap the controller for this, but it’s substantial to the point of jittering as opposed to drifting. Any recommendations for repair? Is this usually a stick issue or the control module? Not sure if this helps, but I went with the medium tension in the right stick. Any info from you or the community would be very helpful, thanks!
The little bar that the thumbsticks sit on broke in half. Will I have to buy a new controller or can it be fixed?
I ordered the domed sticks for my xbox can i use the m on my ps4?
I successfully swapped mine out. broke the little piece that covers the connection point of the touchpad to the main board, the newer ps4 controllers don't have the "little lever", but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. spring for the left trigger fell out, I just looked at how the spring in the other trigger was set and reinstalled it. Only downside I see is that they are noticeably taller than the stock ps4 thumbsticks, consequentially it takes longer to reach the buttons. As far as the dome is just like ps3!
literally everything you just said, happened to me. EXACTLY THE SAME. lol
also, i never did see " the little rubber thing" he pointed out
+Zach Caldwell looks like its attached in the new model of ps4 controller. I like these better than the stock thumbsticks but I feel like they are a little taller than the need to be. Now it takes longer to switch between the thumbsticks and buttons, did you experience that?
ok but how do i do that with the buttons on the back
I've tried installing them on my battle beaver controller and for some reason when I put the controller back together they're sticking and feel rough like they're not on all the way but I'm pretty certain they're fully on i couldn't get them down any further. Is there something Im doing wrong? And also are you guys able to replace the thumbsticks for me if I send my controller in? And my final question, are there interchangeable thumbsticks that are domed instead of the concave ones? If not that may be a great idea because I love the domed ones.
My controller will not turn on after reassembly
Hey dude, Would i be able to use your Xbox One thumbsticks on the PS4 controller ?
i see you had xbox one on the ps4 control
when i got my xbox one control and removed it from the xbox one i installed them in my ps4 but it didn't fit in nicely and had to end up removing them what did you do to install yours? nicely.
Nothing really
+alex monzon they should just fit on
Convex sticks over concave ones, now I've heard everything.
+DeathAdder83 Yes and I always hated this glitchy sticks.:-(
WHat if I have buttons on the back?
hello, nice vid! sub :)
have a question though: i'll probably gonna have to change all the thumbstick eletronics (including the base part) do you have any tuts about it?
thank you!
You would'nt happen to have a concave version of the stick?
Not yet
i want my ps4 thumsticks to be the exact same as my ps3 thumsticks.... will the ps3 thumsticks fit into a ps4 pad?
get the dome replacements
The screw on the circut board won't screw. Also two little plastic prices fell off from somewhere. PLEASE HELP..
You can't take out a screw? Really?
Fixed it lol turn out those little pieces were the option and share buttons
They will be the share/option buttons.lol
For some reason my battle beaver has a screw holding it together that differs from the other 3 and I can't unscrew it with a regular screwdriver .. has anyone else had this issue ??
You put your circuit board 9ver the screw in the center. Now I can not replace your broke thumb sticks. That was a dumb move by you guys.
I must be doing something wrong because I removed the 4 screws and the front part won't come off, it's so hard! I don't want to apply force like crazy and then find out that I broke my only controller. How you guys open it so easily??
There are 2 clips between the 2 thumbsticks in the middle where the top and bottom meet. Put a thin bar in there and help pry apart.
Battle Beaver Customs Thanks! I will try again.
Will these work for PS3 & ps4?
can you link me that screwdriver?
Playstation and Nintendo stuck with Convexed for a long time until the PS4 and Switch came out 🙄
Very helpful video. Keep up the good work. :)
I wish you had other colors besides that green
Which screwdriver do i need ?
Hi, I managed to replace the left stick easily enough but now my X button does not work. Any ideas what I could try? I've reset the controller a few times and that hasn't worked :/
The ribbon between the face buttons and the main board could be out of align. Take the board out and make sure the flex connector is on both pegs properly
i got everything fine i unplug the led light, and the trackpad, install the new thmbsticks plug again all the stuff, wrap it up and the trackpad wont work only by clicking, but if i slice my finger wont do any movements...any thoughts?
You likely plugged the connector in upside down, or not straight. Try it over again, let me know
Battle Beaver Customs it was a pain in the a$$ since the other end of the trackpad cable was unplugged i had to completely tear down the ds4, then the trackpad, plug and get everything together...twice!!, but at the end it works like a charm. thanks for the suggestion.
How fast is shipping usually?
they look great but damn, 13 dollars for them? dang
how tall are these thumbsticks?
Just ordered the black ones, curious if this is going to work :-)
So did it work? They feel like the sticks on ps3?
sixteenstone007 yeah they do. You also have a little bit more movement with these sticks (better precission) The middle part of the stick is a little tighter. And they are easy to install, just be carefull with touching the mainboard (Make sure you touch something that's grounded before touching the mainboard)
Hey beaver can you make it to where I can order a controller with the domed sticks already assembled....
Yes. Use our basic ps4 builder under the blueprint tab on our website
+Battle Beaver Customs can this be done whit scuf
Hey Chris, i used this tutorial to fix my analog sticks and in the process my X button stopped working for some reason, ive tried resetting it and checking to see if i had misplaced something but i dont think i have, any idea what might have happened?
+Luis Molina yo bro same thing happened to me
My triangle button stopped working. Did u fix your button?
+indcsion nah man I couldn't fix it but I tried it again with another controller n nothing went wrong I think we might have messed up some circuits by doing it too rough and/or touching the inside circuits, I did it very carefully the second time with another controller and it worked
+skyblue carlos Mine wouldn't come apart easy
+skyblue carlos I took it apart again then put it back a few more times. Each time something else wasn't working and then last time I put it back it back together everything started working again.
I haven't tried this yet but I will when I get home this evening. The right stick doesn't react when I push it up(forward). Any idea if it could be the right stick or just the controller malfunctioning? Thank you!
Did it happen after you opened it?
This happened beforehand. I did open it up last night and after taking off the right joystick it would actually get stuck when I pushed up(forward) and to the left. Not sure how to go about fixing the actual joystick under the knob so I just bought a couple new ones. I'm going to continue to work on it just to gain some experience and see what happens
Short of seeing it, I wouldn't really know how to tell you over messages to fix it
would it be possible to just buy regular ps3 thumbsticks?
They are too tall and would rub. The ps4 uses a smaller mech and closer tolerances
Is there a way to not have to completely replace the thumbsticks? Im looking for something like stick on pads that cover the hole in thumb sticks to make them rounded. Thanks if anyone has any suggestions.
i got cheap ones from ebay and just put foam under them to make them round. it makes a great deal of difference but these are great
Magic Gaming MGGP™ Thanks for the suggestion.
Or perhaps I'm just a fool and did it wrong.....lol :(
Just make sure the connectors and battery are good. That's 90% of the issues typically and that the board is set in right.
xb1 thumbsticks can be placed on a ds4. so would the domed xbox one thumbsticks you sell work on the ds4? if so, why is there two different options to buy a xbox one domed stick or a ps4 domed stick? could you just buy the xbox one domed replacement stick and put them on your ds4?
Because the domed x1 sticks are slightly taller, they rub in the ds4
Battle Beaver Customs why are the pictures of them the exact same?
The difference is the inside pin, you can't see it. But the ps4 domed sticks will fit in the x1, but sit 1mm lower than the x1 domed
if I want a really tall stick would you recommend the ps4 stick or xb1
The x1 will be about 1mm taller. If you want height, grab some kontrol freaks for ps3/x360 size.
