- Frank has done this song a good deal of times during his time under the Columbia label, but never commercially recorded it until he ultimately was under the Capitol label. This would be his final time ever performing this song from what has been documented.
Happy New Year folks and thank you for tuning in and watching. Hope you all are having a great New Year so far and I hope this video makes it just that much better.
From: The Frank Sinatra Show (ABC)
Sponsor: Chesterfield Cigarettes
Air date: March 7, 1958
Locale: El Capitan Theatre (Hollywood, California)
Joined by: Nelson Riddle & His Orchestra
Included the opening title card and jingle
Also included is his brief comedy bit before starting the song
Here is the timestamp to skip to the song start: 0:56
Minor enhancements done to the image for a cleaner and sharper look
No audio changes made as the quality was already rather good
Removal of grey bar at the bottom for a cleaner viewing experience
Increased framerate to provide additional fluidity and smoothness
Upscaled from a 4:3 640x480 resolution to a 16:9 1920x1080 to be viewed on modern screens easier
the irony of a cigarette commercial then "I'm gonna live till i die" has me cackling
Great years for Sinatra. 1958 Only the Lonely Lp, my personal fav. Great post..
Absolutely fantastic years. Glad you enjoyed and hope your new year has being going well thus far.
My favourite too..nothing like that in the music business..its like classical music. Nelson Riddle, what a genius and Frank, a singer who was able to sing every words with such a strong, melancholic, drammatic, joyful feeling. Unique, the best❤
@@TheSinatraCollection My New Year is off to a fine start. My wife and I are enjoying very satisfying years. Blessing to you and have a great new year. I viewed the 1955 TV version but not this ‘58 one. Keep ‘em coming. Thanks…🙏🏻..
@@saintcruzin Glad you're enjoying the year so far. I may have an even rarer earlier version, quite possibly one the earliest known versions of him doing this particular song that I've been contemplating uploading if I can locate it. If you're interested for me to do that let me know and I will attempt to track it down.
@@TheSinatraCollection Please do, thanks for all you do…
Anymore frank Sinatra shows or specials please I love Sinatra was born in the same state as his in 1989 he is a hero to all people
I do have a good amount of them but the problem with posting them primarily is trying to work around copyright. Since these pieces of material are still not part of public domain it makes it difficult to post these, let alone so often.
Do you have the full show
I do.
@@TheSinatraCollection do you know what songs he sings during the show?
@@Lazarus1001 The other ones he does aside from this one are as follows (in chronological order): “This Can’t Be Love”, “All of Me”, I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself A Letter”, & “One For My Baby” I will note more than half of these exact performances are scattered around on TH-cam and I have one already posted on my channel.
Thanks for your service 🫡
You're welcome my protégé. 🗿
