I picked this up a while back. The moment I saw it I couldn't believe there were any on the shelf, it's SO good. I grew up on the OG cartoon and comic books, so my obvious favorite is this Gen1 inspired model. Love it.
I can almost hear Billy idol "Don't you forget About me" playing while looking at that Golden gate bridge background. But yeah it's a nice combination of G1 movie and the war for Cybertron games even though we got a prime for that.
This figure is sooo sweet! I'm so glad I decided to pick it up the moment I saw it on shelves since it seems he's gotten hard to find. Love the videos!
There's a Dark of the Moon Optimus releasing later this year that comes with a trailer, maybe you can grab that one and see if the trailer works with this one?
The gap in the back of the truck is screen accurate, that's how that's how that truck is supposed to look realistically. Also the "Leaning" is an optical illusion, peaugh mentioned it on his review, it's due to the nose of this model truck not completely flat vertical.
Hey Shartimus, I had trouble with the back piece too. What you want to do is make sure the little piece that sticks off the panels with the wheels (I think they are pieces that tab in for the vehicle mode ) anyway, you want those pieces to be behind the panel for his back not off to the side. If you do this it sits a little better.
Got this guy today love him how come with all the studio series figures there is never any logos on them like decepticon logos on the figures or Autobot logos on the figures if that makes sense sorry my English spelling is not good
I slept on the movie bumblebee and totally regret it cuz that bastards like 30 to 40 bucks now. I will not make the same mistake with Prime! Awesome vid man
Kick-ass review. I want to collect Transformers but I'm either too damn dumb or too damn lazy to screw with the transformations. I have a hard enough time trying to get my Legends and Black Series figures into decent poses.
My only problem with Optimus Prime figures is that they never have the duals on the back even if the made the rear tires just a bit thicker and beveled the center if the back ones to make them look like duals would be cool. Other than that the Optimus Prime figure are kick ass, but that just bothers me, I guess I am a little mental or something maybe it is just me what do you think?
I just bought a 3rd party fig...this figure...nearly exactly the same. The paint is a little diff and when transformed into the truck it doesnt quite all fit together properly
Oh man, they're both so awesome! Tough call, but I think if I had to pick one I'd go with this Prime figure though. Damn, the Blackout is great too . . . but also more expensive I think.

I grew up with the bay formers, and even though I prefer Bay designs over G1, I think Siege did a better Optimus than this one; I don't know what, but there's something that is off-putting about this for me. Maybe because it doesn't look that similar to the movie? Either way, I think I made the right choice getting the siege Optimus instead of this one.

Optimus is an 80's Freightliner FLA-96 Cabover in this film, for anyone curious.
G1 Optimus was a 70's Freightliner FL-86 Cabover.
