Watching passionate fans of the hobby rip packs is enjoyable.
Seeing people get excited on every hit is actually fun to watch, and always brings a genuine smile to my face.
I open hundreds of packs bc I'm obsessed with pull rates, hit percentages, and seeing how many pks it takes to hit the top chase cards.
When I see a IR/SIR shining through, I'm always hoping it's a top 5 card. When I see, "Timburr" pop out for the 4th time after opening 100 TM pks, I react like someone driving miss daisy pulled out in front of me going 16 mph in a "no passing" 50 mph highway, while I'm running late for work.. Ya, I road rage while opening pks when I don't get banger hits. I'm ashamed 😔
To answer your question, the hit rates are essentially "better" on set releases by roughly 15%.
When a product is reprinted, the hit rates normally drop.
It's not ever fully confirmed, but if you open enough and do the math, it's 100% true.
However, you can open 2 etb's at release and get nothing. Then buy 1 etb 2 years later after a reprint and have 6 hits with 2 IR's. Does this mean the 2nd print was better than release? No, that's just called wild leprechaun luck, lol.
I have around 50k in sealed product. On another channel, I compared five 1st wave ES ETB vs 5 reprinted ones from last year.
The results were kinda expected.
1st wave 40 pks: 13 for 40 = 32.5% hit rate.
Reprint 40 pk's: 7 for 40 = 17.5% Each were also from a sealed case.
This is why most investors, youtubers, and collector's buy as much product they can when sets 1st release.

I'm not sure if it's been confirmed, but I got Paldean Fates ETB on launch and I pulled the Mew SIR. My girlfriend pulled the Charizard 151 SIR on launch day. So honestly it does seem so!

It definitely feels that way, tho. I always say the best time to open a set is as soon as it get released, they always seem to be full of hits as compared to a little later on
