    I can so relate to this. I have not yet been able to put away my clock. I know it’s important. I can also understand his experience of fear and anxiety about not knowing what time it is when you wake up at night

    It's been over a year for me following SCS. In the beginning I followed the timeless sleep window. It absolutely helped me, but as time has rolled on I find myself not following the concept at all. Sometimes I wake up after being asleep for a few hours and I'll see the time, sometimes not. But if I do see the time it has pretty much lost its ability to rattle me. Usually I fall right back asleep, but sometimes not. It's all ok. So after many, many months and speed bumps, etc everything seems to have fallen into place. Sleep is not perfect, far from it. But it DOES come. I have wonderful naps again. It takes time...time...time, and a willingness to let go. And that willingness to let go comes easier after...you guessed it - time.

      How bad was your insomnia?

    • @susanashley8454
      @susanashley8454 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@lillianyoukhana8451 Bad. Started in November of 2022 after coming off of Ativan (a benzodiazapene). I had about a month of nights of anywhere from 1 to 3 hours of sleep. With the insomnia, anxiety started spiraling out of control. I was at the point where I pretty much couldn't even leave my house I was so afraid of panic attacks. Started seeing a psychiatrist in January of 2023. Tried a variety of anti depressants with the hope that if we could get my anxiety under control then the sleep would get better. That didn't work. So we settled on switching me to Klonopin. That gave me some relief from the anxiety. The sleep got marginally better (4 to 5 hours a night, but very choppy and broken up). I couldn't stay on Klonopin long term though. At the same time tried various things for sleep - Trazadone, Hydroxyzine, etc. These things worked for a few nights and then stopped working. Started tapering off of Klonopin (a LONG, SLOW taper) in April 2023. Found and joined Sleep Coach School May 11, 2023. Was completely off Klonopin by September 2023. And all the while, sleep was like a rollercoaster. But VERY slowly, sleep started getting better - never perfect. I was getting better with functioning the day after bad nights. That's when I really started seeing light at the end of the tunnel - when I could have bad nights but be honestly ok with it the next day. About a month ago, for the first time since November 2022, I started sleeping through the night - uninterrupted - 6 to 7 hours. No medication. I still have nights of choppy sleep, but they don't bother me anymore.

    I thought that I'm not really getting anxious by checking the clock. Took me months actually to see how anxious I'm really getting.

    I have been pretty successful at avoiding looking at a clock, although I have many of them. I can't even judge the amount of light outside anymore, except maybe the full moon. It annoys me because somebody on social media will post, "Look at that Super Moon!" Or, "Wow, the Harvest Moon will look good tonight." And I don't want to know where we are in the lunar phases, but invariably, I know. For a long time, the extra light has been disruptive of sleep for me.

    I had a few pretty good months, except for early wakeups and still don't feeling rested even after like 8 hours of sleep, but I think this is more the aftermath of years of chronic stress than insomnia. Also whenever I wake up in the middle of the night for whatever reason, I cannot get back to sleep. Despite this I still consider my chronic insomnia to be over! I know try to deal with these inconveniences. What still gets me is staying overnight in different environments, like at my sister's place or at hotels. I haven't yet managed to sleep whenever I am not at home. Recently I went on vacation for a week and stayed at some friends' places afterwards, leading to a longish speed bump that still lasts. How to approach these situations like different environments and wake-ups in the middle fo the night?

    I started implementing timeless sleep window, it’s amazing how I don’t even want to check the time and it makes me feel so peaceful even if I’m awake for hours, I just listen to my podcast and drift off here and there. Will provide an update as things progress 🤞also thanks Cristian for emphasizing that it’s not just gonna take a few days or weeks to see the changes, I’ll be patient and remind myself there’s nothing we can do, just surrender and let go

      @@cristianzor_scs oh well, I have a pattern then. I sleep well (still not normal because of frequent awakening) for 2-3 nights and then don't sleep the other night and sleep 7 hours the next night. I don't think it's that severe but it is still affecting my mental health.
      Also I've taken a drop year to study for university, so I'm 24/7 at home studying or watching TH-cam/Netflix. I don't go out and don't even exercise. So could it be somehow the reason I sleep less?

    Thank you! I haven't been able to successfully implement the timeless sleep window....even when I don't look at the clock, I find myself scanning my surroundings for clues as to what time it is! For example, if I see the newspaper delivery man, I know it must be around 4am, etc.
