Now that is what I call fishing. Looks like whatever you put on those fish in the frying pan had some kick. Fine food and a fun time is what it"s all about. Later
Everytime I watch your videos, it makes me miss NL, such a beautiful province, it' my favourite I've been to so far, Scenery, food, people, it's all great. thanks for sharing Will, ATB !
The fish action was great but one of best parts for me is enjoying a nice meal of them, these for some reason are some of the best trout you'll find anywhere, not really sure why. Maybe water temp, water salinity, what their eating there or something but they are some of the best trout you'll find anywhere ....!!!
So how do I get there? lol there where a couple of ponds back home that had some great tasting trout. Must have something to do with feed, temp, and god knows what else.
Fantastic! Looks like you hit the honey hole. I had to watch this one a few times. I spent a few years in Makkovik and had a few trips to Adlavik. Great memories.
Wow, I have never seen action like that with trout in my life like you guys were having...Great day to be on the ice and on the fish...Looks like you 2 fellas were having a great time...Nothing better than that...take care buddy...
I've seen some pretty good trout fishing here through the years but this was probably the best I've seen. Yes sure was a good time, lots of laughs for sure ...!!!
That was unbelievable fishing for sure..could almost smell it cooking in the scrunchins..interesting instrument being played there, might have had something to do with the levels in them bottles.!!!
Always good fishing here but this was the best I've seen. Hahha that instrument is called the ugly stick & I do believe your right about the low bottle level ....lol
From the rock, great video. I have traveled to the big land many times. Unfortunately it was for work and I didn’t get to take it all of its beauty. Would love to be able to get down to Churchill with my cousin and take part in some of the hunting, fishing and traditions. Beautiful place with some very talented beautiful people. God bless and keep the vids coming. I’m almost through them all now. Lol
Unless we on stocked pond cannot keep trout most places here William. Not that I would catch any. We do have fair deer hunting though. My mouth actually watered.
One of the advantages living in a Bigland with small population I guess, we have some amazing fishing here. There are plenty sea run brook trout in other areas around here but these for some reason seem to be better than most for eating, these are probably the best I've eaten, maybe water temp, salinity of the water, food or something, not really sure why but they are ...!!!
Awesome!! We are heading to the cabin in a couple of days, makes me look forward to it more now. "Son in law in the bunk, father in law going strong" hahahahaha didn't I laugh !!
Thanks buddy yes we had plenty of laughs for sure, was a great all around trip. Always has good fun there, worst thing about this place is don't get there as often as I like :)
+Erin Smith Thank you, the white belly ones are finer eating, have a nice dark orange, red color inside. They are so numerous here we just keep the better eating ones.....
Hi William,Great video, good fishing, good snowmobiling, good friends, what more do you need ;-)I must ask you where did your buddy get his nice coat, its like a snowshoeing coat with a fur hood? Thanks again, keep em coming.
+Michel Lemoine So very true, thank you. They are called dickies they are locally made, there are a few different people that make them, the stripes on the coat you can pick whatever colour you want. I have one and wear it often, actually here we have the Labrador winter games which are held every 3 years, this year were getting a team together to represent our old hometown of William Hr, for team uniforms we are getting dickies made with needed hats, want to go out with a traditional Labrador look....There have been a few people now that I gave contact info to so they could get one made, if you want I can pass it on.........You welcome, certainly will............
+William Larkham Jr (Bigland Trapper) Thank you for your quick reply. Your videos bring back so many fond memories of the old hunt camp and buddies at the camp, ice fishing trips where it was so cold but who cares we had fun and just being outdoors made life worth living. I just last week purchased a "dickie" or Anorak from someone who used to live up North, it is Inuit hand made and came with seal mitts also. Can't wait to get on the old snowshoes and give this gear a go. Take care William, best of the best in the new year, please keep the vids coming they are great and I love watching them.
father in law is drunk!!!!!!ahahhhahahahah. Larkham great vid. Lots of trout action there.Play safe around those hills. Merry Christmas to you and family. Any mummers loud in???????
I tell you buddy it was a great all around trip, lots of laughs for sure. They have Nalujuk's up here, similar to mummers, all great fun no doubt, all the best ...!!!
What kind of trout are they ... and are you catching them so fast because they are starving because they are forced to pool up because of little water ???
The father in law is a beneficiary in this area, as well as the wife & kids, for beneficiary's they can fish year round & harvest what they need, this is remote areas will small populations, guess that's one of the advantages of living in a remote area. The wife can sign her rights over to me or you can get written permission to fish if you are a outsider. This is for char & trout they have limits for salmon, not sure what that limit is ...!!!
+Andrew Yi We were just carrying on having some fun, he was acting a bit when he walked pass...lol Thank you was good fun, couple drinks few laughs after a good day fishing & hunting.....
These are sea run brook trout, we are allowed up to 12 per person, were allowed 2 Lake trout in some zones & 3 in other zones.... We were a couple shy of the limit. Though this was in Nunatsiavut, Inuit lands in Labrador.....
Very nice eating fish in this area, they are sea run brook trout like we get in other areas but for some reason, not really sure why but they are among the finest trout you'll get ...!!!
