I lived in the Jesus People for about 6 months. Glen was the preacher and the lead singer of this band. They helped me to get closer to Jesus when I needed Him the most.

The best rock band EVER!. introduced to them in 1979. Sixteen and a new Christian. They are the reason why I really never got into secular rock music. After them, everyone one else paled in comparison. To this day they ARE the soundtrack to my life. Thanks Glenn Kaiser.

I saw the band live at the Rand Afrikaans University, Johannesburg, South Africa, in 91 or 92... I loved their music.
I asked them to play my favourite song of theirs (which I can't recall now, after so many years) but they didn't have an acoustic guitar with them that night.
I shouted back that I would see them at the next venue, and to get one.
    THEY DID!
Now I've got to go find that song I loved do much back then.
Edit: Lincolns Train from Rez : Civil Rights album... that song still gives me the chills.

Lincoln's Train is a GREAT song! And Civil Rites is one of the top 3 albums in Rez's catalog (IMHO).
They're such a generous group of believers, and a FANTASTIC band of musicians.

Hi I've know Gleen and many of the people at JPUSA for many years, mostly through Cornerstone festival. Rez no longer tours, But Glenn is still going strong doing Blues and Worship whenever and whereever he can. He does solo shows and also tours with Glenn Kaiser Band (GKB) John Herrin (Drummer) is still on the leadership team at Jesus People. Wendi (Glenn's wife) is a happy grandmother, with two hip replacements. Roy Montroy (bass) is part of Glenn's GKB. Stu Heiss (lead guitarist), and it's been a while moved from Jesus People and was involved with creating software for children.

    • @Retroredhead85

That’s so awesome! Yes, they’re all still alive. I’m actually Roy Montroy’s daughter 😊 and he tours with Glenn for GKB, and sometimes works with other bands. He (Roy) plays every Sunday at a church down the street. He’s actually done some solo stuff now as well, and is always writing more music. He’s an incredible musician and songwriter, and wrote many songs for Rez and GKB. I may be a bit biased, lol, but you can always judge for yourself by just listening to them 😊 I’m still living at JPUSA with my dad (Roy) and my mom, and Glenn and Wendi are still here, but John Herrin and his wife left a few years ago. Stu and his wife are in Wisconsin now. I know Stu is still doing music, but I don’t think John has done anything since Rez retired, but I’m not 100% sure. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or anything 😊 God bless!

There are many promises in the Old Testament that affirm God’s prevailing love and mercy for all.
    For example, Psalm 136:1-26:
1 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures
    forever.
2 “Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever.
3 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever.
4 “To Him who alone does great wonders, For His mercy endures
    forever.
5 “To Him who by wisdom made the heavens, For His mercy endures
    forever.
26 “Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures
    forever.”
All 26 verses of Psalm 136 end in the same way. In fact, “For His mercy endures forever” is seen 42 times in the Old Testament!
Note God’s all-encompassing love and mercy in the following OT examples. I have summarized them for clarity:
All the families of the earth shall be blessed. (Gen 12:3,28:14)
All the nations of the earth shall be blessed. (Gen 18:18,22:18, 26:4)
All the ends of the world shall turn to the Lord. (Ps 22:27a)
All the families of the nations shall worship before God. (Ps 22:27b)
All those who go down to the dust shall bow before God. (Ps 22:29)
All flesh will come to God. He provides atonement. (Ps 65:2-3)
All kings shall fall down before God. (Ps 72:11a)
All nations (peoples) shall serve Him. (Ps 72:11b)
All nations shall come, worship and glorify God-a God full of compassion, and gracious, long-suffering and abundant in mercy. (Ps 86:9,15)
All the kings of the earth shall praise Him when they hear the words of His mouth. (Ps 138:4)
All He has made will receive His compassion. (Ps 145:9b NIV)
All will experience the Lord’s goodness because He is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. (Ps 145:9a, 8)
All God’s works are wrapped in His tender mercies. (Ps 145:9b)
All God’s works shall praise Him. (Ps 145:10)
All living things will have their desires satisfied by His open hand. (Ps 145:14-16)
All people will receive a feast from God. (Is 25: 6)
All people and nations will have the covering and the veil that was cast over them destroyed. (Is 25: 6-7)
All faces shall have their tears wiped away as God swallows up death forever. (Is 25:8)
All mankind together will see the glory of God. (Is 40:5 NIV)
All the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of God. (Is 52:10)
All nations, at that time, will gather to honor the Lord no longer following their stubborn evil hearts. (Jer 3:17 NIV)
All nations and peoples of every language worshiped Him. (Dan 7:14 NIV)
All people will have God’s Spirit poured out on them. (Joel 2:28 NIV)
All peoples’ lips will be purified that they may call on the LORD and serve him shoulder to shoulder. (Zep 3:9 NIV)
The above, though not exhaustive, strongly affirm God’s unfailing, unending love for all people. And King David would add: “Great is Your mercy ... You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol [translated “hell” 31 times in KJV; “Hades” in LXX 22].” (Ps 86:13)
    Just think ...
God’s mercy and love will prevail-even in Sheol!

I used to be a believer, congregating at a Baptist church until I became an agnostic-spiritualist at 37 (and eventually an atheist at 39). The only thing from my life as a christian that I still do is listening to Rez Band! Unlike the majority of gospel bands, Rez is really amazing, being in the same league of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow...

    • @mrtapping
      @mrtapping 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Have you been hurt by the church?

    • @Rafael-ko1cb
      @Rafael-ko1cb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mrtapping, no, not at all! I had the luck to always congregate in very serious and committed churches, with very capable pastors and ministers. The problem was when I was confronted with the fact no one has actual evidence of god. I got really scared by the possibility of finitude. Then I prayed to god to give me any undeniable sign he was real, but none came. I developed panic syndrome and had to start with medication. Still no answer from the so called merciful god. Then a friend of mine, pastor, said to me to go read the bible from start to end. As it states about itself it is the living word of god and it doesn't depend on the reader, if god were real, he would talk to me through it. It was the first time I read the bible completely in my whole life. It was a big compilation of horror stories, showing a moster as the almighty god. Nothing like the one I learnt about in the church. I even saw parts of it the pastors have presented as something Ok, but they are not! The god from Bible killed 42 children for calling Elijah bold! Just for that! This god said Dina was to blame for being rapped! And she was forced to marry to Sikem! And many others.
But then people say "oh, it is the old testament!". In the new one we are in the age of grace, after the sacrifice of Jesus! God doesn't act like that anymore. Really? He fulminated Ananias and Saphira because of money. How is he more merciful after Jesus's death? And yet a rapper is not fulminated while he is rapping. Maybe god is sleeping.
Then, in a certain day, after reading all that, I looked to the sky through the window of my bathroom and I realised why my prayers for faith and support on my belief problems were never answered. The simple true is there is no god to answer! There never was! And if I'm wrong and he, or any other deity, really exists, they are not worth worshipping. They are worth repulse!

    • @mrtapping
      @mrtapping 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Rafael-ko1cb Thanks for sharing your story. I can see so you've gone through some serious hard times in life and probably they still appear in the present. I've gone through similar experiences and came to the conclusion that life was meaningless.
When I look at a house i know for sure a builder made it; i see no difference when i look at the whole earth, if the big bang was the beginning then for sure there's also a builder behind it. I think that you were looking for a relationship with God rather than the proof. I'm not here to brainwash you, i don't even know you however why should i tell you a lie if actually I know and can see how God is working in my life directly or thrugh other people ? if I had cancer and you had the cure for it, would you keep if for yourself or share with me ?
I could go through all the stories you pointed out and explain them but i feel like it wouldn't make you change your idea. Would be like telling you to not do bad things which God doesn't like when in the first place you don't believe and trust in him.
If God is merciful and JUST it means we're free, free to do good and bad, accept Him or deny him.
I did accept him and saw how bad and selfish i used to be, i'm on a journey and it's the hardest thing to do, however i'm not alone and most of all I have a purpose in life which is based (in my case) on evidence.

@@Rafael-ko1cb We can’t love better than God. No mention here regarding the true horror Christ confronted at the cross or through His trials and tribulations. No talk of Him raising the dead nor healing the sick or delivering the ones who had evil spirits. How could God allow His only Son to suffer like that for sinners? Let that sink in.

    • @Rafael-ko1cb
      @Rafael-ko1cb ปีที่แล้ว

@@lorenamares1427, you are aware that this isn't, by any means, the first time I hear those things, right?
Jesus, as a historical character was awesome! But the god described in the Bible was anything but a perfect lover. He executed one righteous man from Israel because, when trying to avoid the Ark of the Covenant to fall to the ground, has touched it directly, instead of by its rods! Even David thought it was terrible! Even David, " a man in the likeness of God's heart" (maybe it is not the right term used in the English versions of the Bible. I'm trying to translate from what I've read in the Portuguese ones)
Ananias and Saphira were fulminated by god in the time of grace. So he is still the same sadistic unmerciful god from the old testament.
Anyway, I am just citing some Biblical stories to show that you're right that nobody loves like god, because for human beings it is called hatred. In fact, I genuinely don't believe in any of those stories anymore

Sounds a little bit like Led Zeppelin when they released Houses of the Holy -- every bit as bluesy. I wonder if Bruce Franklin from Trouble took cues from Rez Band. The solos are impressive. I almost formed a secular heavy metal band twice first time in 1996 and again in the 2010s as I wanted to combine power metal with Djent, Thrash, Aggrotech and black metal style drumming. I would been the sole Christian who would been bringing complex ideas to the table.

chris adams Glens roots go back to the blues and that is what he now plays, gospel blues. People like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and especially the gospel blues artist Blind Willie Johnson. Thats where music actually got its roots. Gospel accapella in the fields of sharecroppers then to the bending of notes on the harmonica and guitar and slide guitar. Watch the movie Cadillac Records. The movie explains alot. Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Lef Zeppilin and many orhers have their roots dug really deep in the blues. Check out Glen Kaiser and Joe Filisco live at the Cornerstone Festival 2012, its acoustic and unplugged and freakn' awesome!

    Hell?
1 Tim 4:10 says "... God is the Savior of ALL men, especially of believers."
Note that it does not say that our dear brother Cain, who killed Abel, was directly mentioned in that "ALL" mankind. He may have been suffering for about 6000 years in a place God never told him or his parents about, but God snuck into that little word death.... Jesus revealed Gehenna ("Hell") about 4000 years later.
Being dead, in Sheol, which in some versions is translated as "Hell", would be extreme for Cain, as it would have been more severe for Him than Hitler, as brother Hitler has only suffered about 60 years or so now for killing at least 1 more person than Cain. I just realized this is by now about a hundred fold times greater punishment than Hitler has received, unless God has also put Hitler in flames of Hell where it is about 100 times hotter, to make up for it, and then after the 6o years, God has to lessen heat heat down to a lesser level, to place Cain and Hitler on more equal and just footing/levels. But the great Potter could have made both of our dear brothers "Vessels of Honor instead of the vessels of dishonor he definitely placed them in (God is known as the Placer). Potter, Placer, Sustainer (these dear children, created by a loving Heavenly father, have been formed similar to Esau, whom God "Hated" instead of Jacob (the clutcher/deceiver). Pharaoh is another example in History (HIS STORY) of the Potter making a vessel of dishonor. God had to harden Pharaoh's heart 7 times in order to be loving to Pharaoh (God is Love, remember). All of these vessels of dishonor, when thrown into God's consuming fire (God is a consuming fire), the wood, hay, and stubble die/ burn up. More heat for Hitler, and then Pharaoh, then Cain, who went out from the face of God (a man of pride), and finally Esau (whom Jacob said of his elder brother that "He had seen the face of God.") , and so these men have such a pride and ego and "free" will so strong that God was powerless to change them in his "Everyone shall be salted with fire" Gehenna or Sheol, or Hades, or possibly Tartarus, or most likely the Lake (crucible) of liquid smoking fire. This must be the same God who tells us "Is anything too hard for God" was absolutely powerless here, when he ran into a greater power than himself, the "free" will of man and Satan. The LOF is said to be burning on Sulfur (brimstone) & with so much fire (isn't there also heat? but I guess we are not told that "fact", but I guess it was not enough heat to consume the sulfur, which is known in ancient times as a cleansing agent. All 5 of these terms are known as "Hell" in the KJV version of twisted scripture. Which one is the Hell we know of in the parable of the Rich man and Lazarus? (Jesus spoke not a word to the Public but in parables)
Now look at how just & fair out loving, merciful, heavenly father (who tells us to take care of our families or else we are worse than an infidel) has been throughout History. He tells us things ahead of time, even before they exist. He tells us that "Mercy triumphs over judgement." He tells us Love never fails (except when it comes up against man's free will), and that Love keeps no record of wrongs (except in those extreme "free will" cases such as the bad thief on the cross ) and that "God was in Christ, reconciling the WORLD to himself, not counting men's sins against them (except in those cases where the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit is committed, or when man's "free will" takes him out of the reach of God's love, or where they commit the "sin unto death" or any number of iniquities where a man's heart would be more powerful than an "ALL POWERFUL GOD") Maybe I left an iniquity out there somewhere, but it is so wonderful that the Good shepherd can go find that lost sheep and carry it home to the fold where the other 99 sheep already are, and instead of bringing that little lost, blind, wretched, dead, hideous sheep inside the fold, the "good " Shepherd lovingly places or throws that sheep over into the consuming fire first.
Oh the height and the depth and the width and the whatever type of adjective we can come up with (as long as we keep in mind his justice too) of the Love of God! How unsearchable are his ways, beyond searching out. For out of HIM, and through Him, and to HIM are ALL things (except the ones mentioned above, of course, that we need to realize that our omnipotent God is not quite as powerful as we may have thought, and that a more powerful God exists, namely man's lust of the flesh, pride of life, and etc. , wherever his puny little "free will" entails.
Maybe we need to rethink that verse a bit... "IS ANYTHING too hard for GOD?" OR maybe 1 Tim 4:10 might be true as well as the 100 scriptures mentioned on our website. (see www.forbiddentheology.com) - Brother Paul

Love Wendy but Glen’s voice is amazing, he should have sang every song the band put out, no reason to have Wendy sing any songs solo, just don’t get it

Wendi brought a strong variance to the band. Why can't we have both? Both have equally powerful voices in their own right. Without Wendi's style, and despite how powerful and amazing Glenn's voice IS, the band would've become a little monotonous. For instance; "Your Love Was Right On Time" in Wendi's voice gave the song a vibe that hinted at Post-punk that couldn't have been done with Glenn alone.

Although I like his voice more overall I am very glad that they handed this song over to Wendi.

first: there are lots of differences between both bands if you don't use only one song to compare them and second (as already someone said): this is a normal blues lick and ac/dc haven't invented that either... they are also "only" inspired by the stuff they grew up with (which is fine with me) but this big mouth stuff on youtube, always bashing bands, really sucks

My parents "church music " wouldn't have interested me when I was 14 ( when I heard my first Christian alternative band ) who are you or I to say who or what God will use for the Kingdom! I got saved @ a Second Chapter of Acts concert & loved listening to Rez as well as Petra , Prodigal . As I've gotten older I now listen to some more traditional worship music but this is the genre I prefer I raised my kids with it alongside classic rock . God is the creator of Music it's presumptuous for anyone to think He can only use one type . I've been a Christan since 1981 & I've matured in my walk with God over that time & I've never stopped loving this it still touches my spirit ! To each his or her own taste Good bless you brother ! Remember judge not . 🙂
