    He was incredibly kind and humble. Thank you for sharing that about him. I was lucky enough to spend just a small amount of time with him in his last years. Please do more reactions of his music. I want the world to know him. Some of my favorites are “Tin Pan Alley” featuring Johnny Copeland, and from the El Macombo concert, “Texas Flood,” “Little Wing “ and “Lenny.” For starters… thanks again, Donna G❤️

    Just living in Austin during those days. Clifford Antone and what he did for Austin. It can't be overstated. SRV was the result of that in a way even though he was a Dallas guy. But, what Clifford did for Austin...and there were others...don't get me wrong ...but man...Austin in the 80's...wow. So glad I was there. Best times of MY life. And I've had some pretty good times since.

    In 1985 I saw SRV open up for Dire Straits during the Brothers in arms tour - I got to see 2 of top 5 favorite guitarists of all time that night in SRV & Mark Knopfler. The other 3 are Alex Lifeson, Peter Frampton and David Gilmour

    #1 didn’t have a fixed bridge it was a regular strat with a trem.

    • @matheuhexter6189
      @matheuhexter6189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it was even installed upside down so that the bar was on top. At least that was one of the configurations #1 went through I it’s life.

    • @artsilva
      @artsilva 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it was also an adapted left handed tremolo bridge where the whammy bar attaches on the top end, which explains his confusion because it isn't as obvious visually as if it were on the bottom end.

    • @curtsnellgrove3538
      @curtsnellgrove3538 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think what he was trying to express was that the trem most likely wasn’t set up as floating. Fender trems are designed to float(allow a light increase in pitch as well as decrease), but many players set the spring tension high enough that the rear of the trem is making solid contact with the body, which eliminates the tuning issue. Rene may have even been putting a block in there, fully turning into a fixed bridge, on songs that Stevie didn’t use it. He typically only used it on songs like Lenny and Riviera Paradise. Stevie did pull out the occasional dive bomb, but he did it showman style (aka living dangerously) by pushing on the back of the headstock. B.T.W If you do set up your strat trem to sit flush against the body, all of your whammy vibrato is flat vs the fundamental and it is harder to make it sound natural.

    • @the-bt6lc
      @the-bt6lc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@curtsnellgrove3538 true but he was stating that even with the bridge being flush a string break would cause some pitch change on the other 5 strings. He never played lenny on #1 so I believe #1 is set up different. I’ve only seen him #1s trem on voodoo child and say what although it was heavily used as he often broke the tremolo arms.

    Brian May must use a floating bridge, because there is a video of him leaving the stage midsong to deal with a broken string. Mercury basically vamps until May returns, and most of the audience probably didn't realize what happened.

      @@YesYouCANPlayGuitar, just a little tip: it's not 'Live at The El Mocambo' (which means 'The Hut'). It's 'Live at El Mocambo'. The word 'El' means 'the'. The phrase 'Live at the El Mocambo' means 'Live at The The El Mocambo'. The second definite article is superfluous.

      You said he broke a string, finished the song, and changed guitars between songs. He didn’t. He played with a broken string until the replacement guitar showed up and changed during the song. This shows more skill than you gave him credit for. Playing around a broken string is awesome but so is. Hanging guitar mid song without missing a beat.
