I wish all tutorial creators would take note of literally everything about this video. The video itself has good resolution and is completely straightforward with no gimmicks or unnecessary clutter. She speaks clearly and manages to inject a bit of fun and personality without coming off as condescending or in-your-face about it. Her actual drawing was (no offense meant here) simple and slightly awkward, which is exactly what a beginner's drawing would look like. I cannot stress just how helpful it actually is to see her create something I would likely, realistically, create as a complete beginner to Procreate or someone being new to digital drawing in general. The video description has every single section time stamped so that people returning for reference can quickly access the tidbit they need instead of trial and erroring their way through the slider. Her affiliations/relationships with the app are clearly stated with no dramatic salesmanship; are quickly stated in the introduction and then never mentioned again which is very appreciated. I have been working with Procreate for a whole 2 weeks and was getting pretty discouraged with it as it is my first foray into iPad drawing. This tutorial is basically the missing manual that I, and I'm sure tons of others, NEEDED. So really, thank you for this.
Wow, this comment really means a lot to me! Thank you for the thoughtful review, and for noticing all my little details. :) I work really hard to make sure the information is approachable and digestible for people of all skill levels and that no one feels discouraged after watching a tutorial. My mission in life is to help all humans feel capable of creativity. :)
definitely agree with you... i can't stand tutorial videos that are basically 50% intro/trailer and all fluff, no substance. The video here dives right in, takes you through everything quickly and clearly, and what's more- - respects our time! The drawing created was quite childlike and that made it less intimidating and more fun. It's easy to see how much potential the app has, just seeing how it uses the shading capabilities, transform, etc. Thank you again for making the perfect beginner video!
No lie, this is the best and most comprehensive tutorial I've seen, on ANY subject. Keeps moving, covers all the bases, doesn't blather on and on. So glad I found this video, thanks for helping learn to draw better with Procreate!
Really, this is the perfect blend of background info, beginners tips and meat and potatoes. Only gripe I have (and its certainly not Bardot's fault) is the interface has changed slightly, so it's a bit tough to follow at first. I guess that is true with any app tutorial.
Thank you so much! Thanks to this video I discovered that I should not buy an iPad, an apple pencil or Procreate because I have an Android, a DIY stylus and Infinite Painter! Infinite Painter is a very nice drawing application on Android and Ipad. It contains all the functionality of Procreate and even has more than Procreate! Thank you! I won't even spend a penny! Plus, Infinite Painter is 100% free!
I agree 100%! I bought my 12.9" iPad Pro in late 2017 and downloaded Procreate. Today is the first time I've tried to ever draw in my life and also use appropriate! It is so much fun! I'm very thankful for this video...Also, that I finally got up the courage to try both drawing and using procreate! Facing my fears! Peace Always!
Just got my iPad a week ago and all other tutorials were too complicated and required previous knowledge of the procreate app and it was making me feel discouraged like I would never figure it out but this tutorial has helped me understand so much. Even tho some of the settings have changed since 2019 when you filmed this, it still thought me everything I needed to know to get started in my digital art journey. Thank you so much.

This is the ABSOLUTE best tutorial I’ve seen on how to get started with Procreate. She does an awesome job at explaining the many functions and showing you how to use each function through simple illustrations. Going to her website NOW to learn more!!
and then you realise how frickin expensive it all is. Here in India, it's more than a 1 lakh rupees, or 100,00 rupees. In dollars, its more than 1,330 dollars..., its crazy. Thanks you, I am going to invest in Procreate, show artwork to my elderly mother. I prefer open source applications and my hardware architecture is open source. I am willing to be open minded. I spent weeks in deciding which app I should use for my new iPad you’ve done a great job helping me choose where to spend my limited time in money. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It means the world to use in this bitter sweet time of our lives.😀
Great tutorial! The only thing I would suggest is to save your drawings as a PNG instead of a JPEG. The reason being is because PNG is a loss-less export and thus keeps the colors accurate and doesn't create what is called "artifacts", which is that pixely looking grainy texture around the edges of a an image that is saved as a JPEG. a PNG will look exactly like the raw-file and thus will have crisp edges and more vibrant colors, though keep in mind it takes up significantly more space. Basically, JPEG is like 1080p while PNG is 4k
i agree with you, however, there are some instances where a JPEG is better. For example, if i use Photoshop( or any other program) in class, in order to be able to post it on some sites (lets say google classroom), you have to use a JPEG, or you have to open the file in a new window and stuff like that. But for the most part, yes, a PNG is better.

Seeing all the features and what you can do with them is definitely awe inspiring. Thanks again for sharing your talents and also your wealth of knowledge with us.

Sienna LaRAe I don’t see what’s wrong with that... I haven’t checked this site totally, but I’ve had the procreate for a while and welcome all the help she can provide. Kiddos for that.
By far the best Procreate beginning tutorial I've seen. Great job going through the features and showing how to use them, especially for a drawing newbie like myself.
I’m so happy bc I’m getting an iPad and an apple pen for Christmas :> I’m literally so excited to finally draw digitally on something other than on my phone with my *finger*
I’ve been browsing beginner tutorials, but when I heard you’re intro, I instantly subscribed. I am 66 years old, and have been creating in just about every form I have encountered. I’m an old pro creation student, and you’re comment about every person being creative sealed the deal for me. Words truly matter❣️🙏🏼🖖
I too, am an older computer user, the designers are told OR don’t consider us as a target audience. We aren’t going to buy Apple products as manny years as a teenager so why bother to consider our needs. Text size the whole UI (User Interface ) When a report comes to the attention of the CEO they see us as numbers.
Hey I am 48 also learning on iPad very different to traditional art this is a great tutorial used another app but just wasn’t great been feeling less confident in my abilities 😂but I am glad she suggested the Matt screen protector the smooth feel is a little off putting to me feels very clinical which I know is weird as using an iPad of course but the feeling on paper or canvas helps me but great video giving me hope 😂just need to remember when I started as kid was learning progress so just have to apply it to the iPad. Happy creating 💜🏴💜
If anyone has an iPad or tablet that isn’t compatible with Apple Pencil (I have the generation before it’s compatible), I’d recommend the Bamboo stylus that’s about 70 dollars I think. I’ve had mine for over a year and it’s a great alternative. It holds charge suuppperr well and does the job well. And I’ve been using autodesk sketchbook but I think I might buy procreate! Edit: I bought procreate and it’s so incredible! Thank you for the tutorial!
Omg I am so excited to get an Ipad just so I can use this program! You did a great job selling it to me lol! I better start saving now because I want to go big and get the 12.9 inch!
I purchased my 128 gb iPad Pro 12.9 inch tablet used through eBay and got it, the Apple Pencil, the keyboard and a case for $400 and it is just like brand new. Can’t promise you will get as lucky as I did, but I do highly suggest looking on eBay.
Think of the price this way: It's likely to actually be cheaper than a year or two worth of art supplies, and you get unlimited colors and textures. Hard to beat that! For those likely to lose their pencils, it's really worth it to get the new generation which has a nice magnetic home for the pencil.
Well, my parents are going to get me an iPad pro for Christmas, and I was pretty excited about procreate but knew nothing about it, thanks to you, I'm even more excited!
You're awesome. I wrote my book on procreate and your video and brushes really assisted me in getting the artistic vision I had in my head, onto the paper. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your teachings.
Excellent tutorial! I downloaded Procreate 2 days ago and was totally clueless as to how to begin! I started watching a video (actually, about 2 minutes worth) for newbies and became totally discouraged because the presenter was talking 100 miles per minute about I don’t know what, …and rewinding the video was useless! But thank goodness I came across your video tutorial today and I was totally impressed! It’s incredible how much info you included and in such a clear, understandable manner! I am so motivated now to go ahead and start creating a few simple projects because you have provided me with a springboard foundation. Thank you so very much for an awesome tutorial!!!👏❤️❤️❤️
yeah same it too expensive but I bought an off-brand stylus that has pressure sensitivity and play, rejection for 30 dollars in amazon and it pretty good.

I literally just bought an iPad 7th generation and Apple Pencil 1st generation today at Target, no joke. (I gotta wait until Christmas to get to use it though!) I’m so excited to buy Procreate and finally learn digital art after many, many years of traditional. So excited and happy! :>
Chxrm hahahaha luckyyy I want an iPad Air for Christmas cause it’s cheaper and I’ll buy myself all the accessories! I doubt I’m going to get one though but that’s fine! Have fun! 😁
one of the best introductory procreate vids!! I just got my ipad pro 11" for Christmas & I felt like I wasn't using it to its full potential, sending love from the Philippines!
I have watched about 6-7 videos on how to get started with procreate and this has been the best, easiest to follow intro I have seen so far! Thank you so much for making this. More importantly, thank you for not making it all about your art. Lovely easy to try, colourful drawings to give newbies like me the confidence to have a go! 🥰
Amazing intro video. As a designer that’s been working for years in Adobe I appreciated how briskly you moved thru the work flow and covered so many elements. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 I am definitely looking for an iPad now that my Wacom broke.
Love this video and have watched it many times to get started with Procreate. Regarding the colour drop for filling in shapes. Is it true this only works with certain brushes? I was getting so frustrated why it wasn’t working. I watched it over and over again and then changed brushes to a more solid one and it worked.
Wow this tutorial really helped me! I was just a beginner and after I watched this video, I knew so much about Procreate already! Thank you so much, you really inspire me :)
I recently bought an Ipad and just googled about learning procreate, this channel showed up and it is wonderful! I do not even want to look for any other classes, I like her voice, music, style of teaching, so clear and easy to follow and learn. Thanks so much!
Wow. How good was that? As an elderly retiree with little or no art ability and wanting to learn Procreate, I found your video. What a delight and what a great teacher. I will follow up your other lessons etc. Thanks a lot.
This video is clear and professional. It is easy to follow and has all of the basics which you need to start using Procreate. You are not only an artist, but a true teacher too!
Thank you for making this fabulously simplistic video for a Procreate beginner like myself. I feel so excited to go and play about after watching this. 👌🏾😃👍🏾
Thank you for this tutorial! I've used Photoshop for years but this is my first time using Procreate. It's so much more intuitive!! Can't wait to learn more.
Let’s just say “Save early, save often!” to cover it all. That way, it will prompt you to “save as” the first time and then just be in the habit of saving. That said, it is obvious that this pretty darned marvelous teacher is creating some of these files on the fly to delete once her tutorials are done. She must have 100s of files and without a name she will know it’s one to be trashed without going through another process.
WOW! Such a cool tutorial! I got an iPad Pro on sale today. Very excited to make some animations and artwork for my channel! Thanks so much for the information!
Your tutorial is helpful and informative. I downloaded Procreate to my iPad for well over a year ago, after it was recommended by a creative friend. I used it once and got frustrated because I didn’t understand it. I’m glad I finally looked for a tutorial and came across yours. Your instruction style is clear and simple to follow. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am going to purchase this app on my iPad Pro and start drawing! I have drawn on paper, but didn't know how easier it is to draw in this app! You really helped me. Please make more procreate videos like this! 🤩
Thank you so much for this very informative tutorial. I was able to follow you step by step. I am new to ProCreate and was overwhelmed by it. Now, I feel more confident using it. Thanks again. :)
Thank you! I just retired after 30 years of teaching. However I’m on to a 2nd career in writing. Art is an outlet that I’ve always loved but found cumbersome to containerize materials. I just purchased an iPad 11 and I found your video in an attempt to maximize its use…besides research and writing. I can now add digital art as my new hobby. I will need to binge all of your videos! I pause a million times so it took me a couple hours to complete this tutorial but I loved it!!!! Kelley from Wisconsin 💚💚
I love what you said at the beginning about being an all-round creative person, valuing creativity as an essential trait & supporting others in exploring their creativity. Clear, efficient instruction, with demonstration to match your teaching. Well delivered & comprehensive for a beginner level. Thank you!

I just did something I thought I’d never do. I got an iPad and procreate!! I worked so hard for it and now this video is actually useful so thank you!!! ❤️☺️
The amount of ipads and apple pencils she has concerns me
i agree
I mean she does work for them ,she can probably afford them
Sienna LaRAe I don’t see what’s wrong with that... I haven’t checked this site totally, but I’ve had the procreate for a while and welcome all the help she can provide. Kiddos for that.

By far the best Procreate beginning tutorial I've seen. Great job going through the features and showing how to use them, especially for a drawing newbie like myself.
I’m so happy bc I’m getting an iPad and an apple pen for Christmas :>
I’m literally so excited to finally draw digitally on something other than on my phone with my *finger*

Ainika Attaluri is it the bamboo sketch? (Should be black and a triangular shape)
or u can use a pen for free!

11 minutes in and I’m sold on purchasing this app. This is a great tutorial. Thanks so much for it!
Omg I am so excited to get an Ipad just so I can use this program! You did a great job selling it to me lol! I better start saving now because I want to go big and get the 12.9 inch!
Lunarfyre the 12.9 inch is a bit expensive, try get the 11 inch because it’s just over A$1100 and is a large enough iPad tool
I purchased my 128 gb iPad Pro 12.9 inch tablet used through eBay and got it, the Apple Pencil, the keyboard and a case for $400 and it is just like brand new. Can’t promise you will get as lucky as I did, but I do highly suggest looking on eBay.
Get mine it's 500 iPad Air 2
Mine is 10.5, bought it two years ago, still love it
Think of the price this way: It's likely to actually be cheaper than a year or two worth of art supplies, and you get unlimited colors and textures. Hard to beat that! For those likely to lose their pencils, it's really worth it to get the new generation which has a nice magnetic home for the pencil.
Essential tutorial for all levels of artists getting started with Procreate. Really clear, concise, and to the point. Thank you!

I have a wacom and i rarely use it because its so hard to use to me lol my dad is a teacher so he uses it to correct his students exams
My friend told me to get this app and I had no clue what I was doing this helps so much!

"It's always a good idea to give your artwork a name"
*every single piece in her gallery: Untitled Artwork*
Let’s just say “Save early, save often!” to cover it all. That way, it will prompt you to “save as” the first time and then just be in the habit of saving. That said, it is obvious that this pretty darned marvelous teacher is creating some of these files on the fly to delete once her tutorials are done. She must have 100s of files and without a name she will know it’s one to be trashed without going through another process.
She said it a good idea not that you have to do it
even the stacks are just *stacks* nothing else (except the one that she made i the vid)

Thank you!
