- A better quality version of the performance at the "Hey, Mr Producer!" event. Featuring Elaine Paige, Paul Nicholas, Brian Blessed and Femi Taylor from the original cast, together with performers that did CATS in London during the 1990s. Some cats, notably Mistoffelees and Victoria, are missing from this performance. After Memory, Electra (played by Leah Sue Morland here) is the one who touches Griz. This part was cut from the DVD release though, so it's not in here.

Yes! Notably (of course) Elaine Paige, but also people such as Bryn Walters and Geoffrey Garratt.

Yes, it looks like Frank could be Alonzo - same sort of face shape but I can never reliably recognise anybody under the black and white Alonzo makeup, alas. Even with all the footage we've been getting from the current Asia tour I still can't reliably tell Fletcher's Alonzo from Aaron's.... 🙈

Here's what we've come up with so far! Note that it's cross-referenced with the IMDB list, which is not entirely reliable but is probably a good guide for who was present at the event (not necessarily for the CATS spot). There's a list at the bottom of former CATS actors who are at the event but not placed in the cast list.

Are my ears deceiving me or is "Jellicle Songs for Jellicles Cats" in a lower key than usual?
I think it was lowered because Brian Blessed and Paul Nicholas, whose voices had become lower over the years, did the lead vocals.
Elaine still could sing Memory in its original key back then.
@@chrissi2810 Is Memory not also in a lower key? It sounds to be in A major instead of Bb major.

@@chrissi2810 FWIW, I think these things sometimes get transposed when creating different versions. For example, I owned Cats on VHS, and years later I saw the DVD version- whole show was a half step higher.
They performed the same way/rendition as the 1983 TONYS with the exception of the lower key for Elaine

This version really has Brian and Paul's mic's boosted during the chorus parts, yikes. Also, how do you know about the part not included in the DVD release with Electra?
Because I saw screenshots taken from the TV version of this show which had that part in it.

The sound throughout this whole show was off. Take a listen to the Les Mis section, during One Day More, all you could hear was one of the chorus females drowning everyone else out. Such a shame as her voice completely eclipsed the legends Colm Wilkinson, Philip Quast, Michael Ball and Lea Salonga. ☹️

I think they wanted her to be in it because she was an original cast member but it was easier to just have her as Exotica instead of finding a Tantomile costume and wig that fit her.

Neither Rosemarie Ford nor Aeva May are in this performance. Most of the film's cast are not featured here.
