    I hope you enjoyed the video, just to point out maths is not my strongest point and I got the total amplifiers power wrong - the three amplifiers in each speaker totals to 670 watts each, not 600 watts - sorry about that. I meant to say over 600 :)

    For people wanting to find out what other wireless active powered HiFi systems there are out there. I came across the Nubert NUPro XS-6000, XS-8000 Wireless floorstanders. No one in the UK or US has reviewed them unfortunately. Then you have DALI's Oberon 7C, Rubicon 6C, 8C, Callisto 6C active powered Wireless Floorstanders. Alternatively there are Dynaudio Focus 30 active Wireless Floorstander. Q Acoustic 400 active Wireless Floorstanders. There's also the KEF LS60 active wireless Floorstander. Then there is AudioPro's A48 active wireless Floorstander, the Buchardt A700 active Wireless Floostander. Elac Navi F51 active Wireless Floorstander. If anyone knows of any other brands making active powered wireless systems please let me know. Because i am looking for my next active network speakers aswell.

      Interesting comments, to be fair I haven’t seen sonar works in the flesh so can’t comment on that. For me Dirac’s impulse response correction makes it stand out as I think there is only 1 other company who has made this work. Then when ART comes to the market it’s game over for everyone else :)

  • @Jason-sr3pr
    @Jason-sr3pr ปีที่แล้ว

    Appreciate your time & efforts as always Terry. Very useful as the Focus 50 is on my short list to purchase, though unfortunately not available to audition in my location. This may be an unfair question, but it’s on my mind so presumably some other might be wondering as well. Without a comparison it’s hard to know what peers the Focus 50 is competing with, and knowing they sound “good” or “great” doesn’t tend to help without a reference, so though it may be difficult to answer, if you were to create a comparable system (or systems) of separates based on sound quality alone, what might that system/those systems be?

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with this comparisons are not that easy, because no other streaming active speaker offers the same as these, no Dirac that would be a no go for me.
      So to get the same performance from separates maybe you can do it with some evoke 50 and some system components but it wont be the same for practical as well sonic reasons.
      I couldn’t come up with anything relevant but I will be comparing any others I see in the future to these. But my explanation of their sound is comparing to every other hifi / speaker system I have had in for review all of them and these are going toe to toe with most of them even wirelessly connected together but defo when connected via a cable. These sound like your listening to very good hifi components not any less in some regards more actually.

  • @goodsound4756
    @goodsound4756 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like detailed reviews, this one remained a bit superficial, you didn’t even comment on the DAC that is built in. However, you gave yourself an idea for a future video, to make a comparison between different room correction/optimization systems. And don’t leave out Linn’s Space Optimization. 😊 I don’t understand why British reviewers overlook often their own brands.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that is fair criticism and I kind of agree with you. However I felt because the nature of a product like this is all in one the small details like which DAC chips are being used really are insignificant because you cant change them and cant compare them because your looking at a full system and its entire integration. So I chose to focus excuse the pun on the major factors like features and flexibility, sound quality of course and what makes these speakers stand out, which is in house driver design and quality and dirac live.
      Also I have just been criticised for reviewing only British products so it shows you cant win

    I enjoy music, I listen for 2 to 4 hours a day. I appreciate that you enjoy your room connection and the sound that it produces. But, room treatments and room correction seems to take the fun factor out of listening to music. My less than $5000 system has a quarter sphere of sound that is fantastic and I have nothing to correct or absorb the sound coming from my speakers except a rug and nearby furniture.
    I’m not a fan of powered speakers, probably due to the fact that the few dealers in my area have never demonstrated any, so I have no way of reviewing them.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don’t absorb the sound coming from the speakers you absorb the reflected sound coming from the walls ceiling floor etc that smears the sound your speakers are making causing a distortion. You can get used to hearing this distortion if you listen to it long enough but it’s still a distortion. We can’t fix all things for our audio system but it doesn’t mean we should not be mindful of them and open minded to what removing that distortion can do for our sound quality.
      First step is usually measuring, when you see what you thought was perfect audio looking anything but it’s the first shock to the system that one sometimes needs to see the extent of the problem. That is what happened to me and also I listened to a system in a professionally treated room and there was no going back for me after that, obsession was sunk right in

    • @4879daniel
      @4879daniel ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see see how a couple of plain white bass traps in the corners behind your speakers would take away any fun.
      Biggest upgrade I ever made even though it sounded fine to me beforehand. My experience was exact same as Terry’s in hearing a properly treated room (same room in fact) and being blown away by it.
      You can experiment with rolled up blankets/duvets and don’t need to go full on with measuring. Remember that only half of what you hear is sound from the speakers, the rest is reflected and arrives at your ears just after.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a good point made Daniel, at the end of the day not every one can have room treatments and they can still enjoy their hifis just as much which is very important, adding treatment does not take away any fun, in fact in a treated room you can listen louder and for longer as you get less fatigue and so do your neighbours in some regards so that is a benefit too.
      Dirac Live opens up a whole new set of things to think about and tools to use to get better sound in your room. Maybe things become a little more technical but this is also educational because your learning more about what you are hearing. I think audiophiles can be guilty of having excellent knowledge and experience of the gear but not much understanding of how sound works in rooms because its the less sexy thing to want to learn about and its mostly all bad news as well when you do. The first time you measure your system in your room is the most heart breaking thing you will ever do because in your mind of how things sound is nothing like how the system measures in the room and its an extreme shock to the system when you see it. It ruined me for years

    • @4879daniel
      @4879daniel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PursuitPerfectSystem Very true, since I added treatment I no longer get complaints from family in adjoining rooms about the booming bass.
      More of it stays in the room and is clean and clear. I think some bass treatment is essential in our typically small UK rooms.

      I have used Dirac Live on over 150 systems all over the world and it’s never done that but it’s possible to use it incorrectly and then you hear that you have done that. In fact at the recent Bristol hifi show I used it on the Focus 50 that were being demod by Dynaudio. It didnt do that to them either. Dirac does what you ask it to so when people comment about this experience I can tell it’s just how it’s been used. For worth bearing in mind and seeing if you can get a demo when an experienced person using it has done the cal.

  • @ianjohnhorwood2605
    @ianjohnhorwood2605 ปีที่แล้ว

    bass or too much bass robs all the midrange magic that is possible from your loudspeakers or monitors, and also from recordings, which also robs the midrange and top end with dynamics. At just under £9000, the dynaudio's are not worth it. There are better options for higher quality resolution for a little more money. For example can buy the much better performing ATC SCM45A monitors for around the £10,000 new, and if you found a used pair, they will undercut the price of the dynaudio's. I prefer detailed clarity with dynamics, and not loudspeakers or monitors that are just not up to the job of giving you this . Spend more on more expensive ATC''s and you will still get higher performance, example ATC SCM110ASL if you want bass performance with clarity, etc .

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ian I always enjoy reading your comments, I am sure even you will admit you are totally one manufacturer biased to the point that ATC should hire you to do their PR. Its a bit a silly really however you bring up something very intersting here with the SCM45A being a competitor which they are not due to their price being much higher, their design and intended user being totally different to the Focus 50.
      The closest competitor from ATC to the Focus 50 for price and design is the SCM40A but in order for the 40A to get even close to the features and flexibility and sound of the Focus 50 you would need to add a Streamer DAC and Pre that features Dirac Live and even then it wont be the same and will cost more. Then for the sound to be close you would need at least one sub woofer probably two and you then have a lot more complexity and more cost still. That does not mean the more complexity and cost would be better sound either given how well done the Focus are, thats the unbiased reality so when you think about it without extreme bias what is the better choice here really? Hence my comment these Focus are offering a very unique proposition currently in the market
      Too much bass does not ruin anything, if you look at the science of human hearing you will see humans need a huge amount of bass spl to sound correct - look at PA systems built for outdoor sound and the sound targets they design them to as a result of this. Too much bass only becomes an issue with poor small room acoustics which you dont have to worry about if your system has Dirac Live in it. Not having enough bass is worse than too much as everything sound cold hollow and unnatural, especially vocals and its extremely difficult to do anything about it. Bass is the foundation all the other sound is built on, if you dont have enough at the bottom you cant have enough at the top so you squash your dynamics not improve them.

    Why aren't you listening to the record if you've got it? 🥴
    Get yourself a Spartan 15 phono stage £300 by classic audio, done let the price put you off can compete with multiple thousand pounds Very good better than that. Or could try the base model at 150£ Spartan 5, that is still very good.
    Its inferior to have speakers on the sides, you need speakers in the middle is the proper way. You use the room as the live environment how it should be and then you don't need to dampen it.

      Yes this could be true for some singers that use headset style mics that use lav capsules that are likely omni, but really the sound engineer wouldnt want that
      as its going to mess with things maybe they not omni . I am pretty sure the traditional live microphone are dynamic and likely super cardiod so only have a very narrow pick up pattern. I only know about this as I use mics all the time so had to learn about it, its interesting gives you a new perspective on it.
      I think a lot of what I listen to is created rather than an organic recording but maybe in the different genre like classical for example its different. Its a very interesting topic similar to acoustics
