I'm Nigerian and I can confidently say that that accent is from West Africa. The scammer is either a Nigerian or from any of the neighbouring countries. Jodi is just shrouded in a world of her own. The most annoying thing is that she has a deep-seated hatred for black people yet a group of dubious black men have been taking her for a ride for 7 years. She is just delusional. My mom was scammed. She sent $50000 cash. Fortunately she called you right after dropping the package off at UPS and you was able to retrieve it after it left the bill. It isn't that she is stupid. She is lonely, she doesn't seem to have a bone in her body that has doubt, and she may have a past where she has been abused, been told she is worthless, or any other type of abuse. Plus, after years of being scammed like this, do you really want to admit that you were gullible enough to give someone all your money to the point where you suffer financially? It will take her a long time to admit to this when it happens. She does need help, a couple times a week with a therapist to dig down deep and find the root of it all. She is acting like an abusive partner; she is always making excuses for him, trying to find some logical route that will work for her to stick something like this out. She HAS to have a past that allowed this to happen. Any one can fall victim to a scam. Even we did (for a job opportunity), but we caught it before any money could be sent. Who would pay for a job unless it is for a license to work for some establishment. Was a fun few phone calls with a Nigerian asshole. It is actually more fun to argue with someone in a scam center in India than it is from a dude from Nigeria. At least from India, their insults are funny because they do not make any logical sense. This is a form of addicition, not to mention there are clearly some mental health issues going on, and she is obviously not highly educated or of average intelligence. Without some form of therapy and mental health intervention, nothing is going to change. This woman appears to be very socially isolated, physically ill and poor. She has many factors that make her the perfect victim or mark for these scammers. You can have compassion and understand that she has underlying issues that make it impossible for her to stop. These guys are just hackers, they don't have the ability to help her with any underlying psychological issues, and they don't have the tact or training to deal with love addiction, etc. As long as she remains socially isolated (not to mention that she is not tech savvy at all), she has no outside source of purpose in her life. People (especially elderly) have been known to kill themselves after losing what seems like a menial sim compared to the more than hundred thousand dollars she’s already lost, and she’s already spent nearly 8 years buying into this fantasy that for her to come to grips with the reality of the situation could likely LITERALLY reduce her willingness to live to zero. My mom got scammed TWICE!! We thought by educating and showing her the map of the scam process it would click in. The scammers let some time pass, changed up the number and hit her again. They got her to "not tell her family" and that is so unlike her it was absolutely shocking. She is 86 years old and is it so sad. I am so thankful for people like you all. She can't face the reality that you're making sense, has no more excuses so she's trying to lighten to situation. It's something children do.

I do have a little sympathy for her, a family member of mine was lonely for a very long time and that can cause a lot of mental issues and emotional problems that can really change someone. She really needs some serious therapy and probably adult protection services to get involved. At least she somewhat listened to them, even a little, although I'm sure she unblocked that person as soon as she left that room.
I never can bring myself to have any pity or sympathy for those that fall for these romance scams or the ones that fall for the financial scams that are something like "invest X and get ten times the return" get rich quick scams. I just see it as fools with more money than brains and they deserve what they get. I do thing adult protection services and family need to step in with Jodi and make it where she never has another $1 of her own money in her hands to send to a scammer, and that it instead goes to family or a lawyer who makes sure her needs are met. He says would reimburse the $3,000 plane ticket with interest. I have trust issues and I have a low tolerance for bull crap PLUS I had Nigerian friends here in Arizona so I put all of it into my thoughts and decided to ask for a video chat. He declined of course saying he was robbed of his laptop and iphone etc. I went ahead and told him this "You know that saying The Truth Will Set You Free? I really like you and I KNOW you're not the man in the photo that you sent me so please be honest, if you are in trouble and need my help JUST ASK AND BE HONEST" he didn't speak for a whole 3 minutes after I stopped talking. At the end I simply asked him kindly to be honest with me and he did.. he even sent me his facebook and IG usernames. He found me in Yahoo chat. These guys are called Yahoo Boys-419rs. It didn't take me that many days to figure out where he was from and i already knew what TF he looked like before sending me his social media information.. see, remember I chatted with him through the email chat. I googled his email and I had already known the face of the guy before I replied to the first chat message he sent. Whoever wants to visit the internet needs to know about these people. My boss at the time I was new to the internet (2009) he was more familiar with scams since he was a business man etc. I appreciate and took everything he told me seriously. I think we all should know these things by now it's 2023. And don't leave our lonely elders to walk in deep shit like this woman Jody.. She's a hard case because she's older and incompetent. I just wish Art & Ash could do this differently. WATCHING your targets, approaching him one on one for a different reason, to ensure you get cooperation, would be more successful. Finding their work place FIRST would help, then being aware of what they’re like on the phone. They will stall by saying “huh? My number, what?” & then recycling the questions because _they’re_ in control, they’re practised at this. Cutting in with fast questions won’t deliver the response you need. Others on your videos have suggested you consult with a PI to sharpen your skills. It would be very helpful. Bullying the woman doesn’t help no matter how stupid or racist she is: hackles get raised & then the woman’ll stand her ground defending her actions. Which is like all of YT! She is lonely, she doesn't seem to have a bone in her body that has doubt, and she may have a past where she has been abused, been told she is worthless, or any other type of abuse. Plus, after years of being scammed like this, do you really want to admit that you were gullible enough to give someone all your money to the point where you suffer financially? It will take her a long time to admit to this when it happens. She does need help, a couple times a week with a therapist to dig down deep and find the root of it all. This is a form of addicition, not to mention there are clearly some mental health issues going on, and she is obviously not highly educated or of average intelligence. Without some form of therapy and mental health intervention, nothing is going to change. This woman appears to be very socially isolated, physically ill and poor. She has many factors that make her the perfect victim or mark for these scammers. You can have compassion and understand that she has underlying issues that make it impossible for her to stop. If she was just ruining her own life at this point, I'd say sure, throw in the towel because you just can't fix some people, and irony of her thinking she's in love with a guy that she would despise if she saw him is delicious. But she's not. And someone needs to call adult protective services.

My mom got scammed TWICE!! We thought by educating and showing her the map of the scam process it would click in. The scammers let some time pass, changed up the number and hit her again. They got her to "not tell her family" and that is so unlike her it was absolutely shocking. She is 86 years old and is it so sad. I am so thankful for people like you all. What you do is commendable and you are literally saving lives every day. Your angel wings are hidden under your black t-shirts. My deepest gratitude.
you need to unfortunately take away her phone # or perhaps try and find a phone that only can receive calls from certain numbers, usually that's only the case with phones owned by drug cartels but there must be other options.

I do have a little sympathy for her, a family member of mine was lonely for a very long time and that can cause a lot of mental issues and emotional problems that can really change someone. She really needs some serious therapy and probably adult protection services to get involved. At least she somewhat listened to them, even a little, although I'm sure she unblocked that person as soon as she left that room.
I never can bring myself to have any pity or sympathy for those that fall for these romance scams or the ones that fall for the financial scams that are something like "invest X and get ten times the return" get rich quick scams. I just see it as fools with more money than brains and they deserve what they get.
I do thing adult protection services and family need to step in with Jodi and make it where she never has another $1 of her own money in her hands to send to a scammer, and that it instead goes to family or a lawyer who makes sure her needs are met. Clearly she needs a conservatorship as she's not all there to still be falling for this.

Back in 2010 a "Cute British Guy" took a liking to me and within 3 days he started talking about how he was stranded etc.. a few days later he asked me to help him leave the place he was stranded at, which was in NIGERIA doing some construction work. He says would reimburse the $3,000 plane ticket with interest. I have trust issues and I have a low tolerance for bull crap PLUS I had Nigerian friends here in Arizona so I put all of it into my thoughts and decided to ask for a video chat. He declined of course saying he was robbed of his laptop and iphone etc.
I went ahead and told him this "You know that saying The Truth Will Set You Free? I really like you and I KNOW you're not the man in the photo that you sent me so please be honest, if you are in trouble and need my help JUST ASK AND BE HONEST"
he didn't speak for a whole 3 minutes after I stopped talking.
At the end I simply asked him kindly to be honest with me and he did.. he even sent me his facebook and IG usernames.
He found me in Yahoo chat. These guys are called Yahoo Boys-419rs.
It didn't take me that many days to figure out where he was from and i already knew what TF he looked like before sending me his social media information.. see, remember I chatted with him through the email chat. I googled his email and I had already known the face of the guy before I replied to the first chat message he sent.
Whoever wants to visit the internet needs to know about these people. My boss at the time I was new to the internet (2009) he was more familiar with scams since he was a business man etc.
I appreciate and took everything he told me seriously. I think we all should know these things by now it's 2023. And don't leave our lonely elders to walk in deep shit like this woman Jody..
