This was the most fun I've had in VR in quite some time. I was a little disappointed pointed when I first left the sewer and thought I would be able to grapple to the nearest building and free roam but I suppose things like that will come in time as it did back in the day between Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.
The combat really is a workout. I played a couple of hours on release and just had to stop as I was exhausted (I had worked that day as well). In fact I am unfit enough that I had to take a minute after each fight to catch my breath before pressing on as I knew if I got straight into another fight Id have a cardiac arrest. I haven't had any crashes so far but at the end of two hours the game was starting to chug a little to the extent I wondered if there was a memory leak or something. One thing I did notice is that through the whole session, the Meta button on the right control would not work. Instead of bringing up the Meta OS so you can do things like check the time, your battery charge, or turn on passthrough, it just goes to a black blank screen when you push the Meta button. You can hear the game but there is no sign whatsoever of the Meta OS. You can still double tap the side of the headset to get pass through but there was nothing else I could do with the OS. When I was finished I couldn't even bring it up to quit the game, I had to restart my entire headset to get back to the Oculus home. That was a pain.
The combat is a great example of rewarding practice, patience and skill if just swinging punches. At first it’s frustrating but when you learn it is more rewarding in the longer term - like playing a proper drum beat instead of just hitting random drums.

This works on quest 2 absolutely fine. Sad they didn't release it for quest 2. Probably because quest 3s is a scam. I don't trust meta. Something is off here. Oh and if u wanna know how I did it, I copied the OBB file from quest 3 and adjusted the APK so it launched as real fishing. And instead of it saying Arkhamshadow APK, it says real fishing APK. But you wouldn't understand. That's in layman's terms. And it's still confusing.
So happy this game delivered. I'll probably pick it up the weekend when i'm not drained from work. I usually like to play seated so will be interesting to see how it goes. That Seagal clip was so good 😂
We're to the point were graphics are distractingly bad on mobile. It's good enough to even make me say wow a few times. Never had that reaction with Quest 2 games.

I tried and installed it . First of all, it looks and plays surprisingly well , perhaps the best standalone VR game. As for the roughness , the only thing I saw was a slight desynchronization of sound and lip movement in the first cutscene or video on the engine, where Gordon tells the police to act according to procedure . The video shows that the sound is slightly ahead , and the lips move correctly according to facial expressions , but lag behind the sound. Drawdowns , I did not notice any such strong drawdowns, there is something similar to a drawdown, but this is probably before some new scene, literally for a second.
@@RussBlake80 No, I'm not saying it doesn't look great. Among the best. But he just says early in the video that its "The best looking game he's seen on Quest" And that feels like a stretch.

Are you sure that your controllers are disconnecting? Or is this just the function to switch to hand tracking when you smash the controllers together? I had to turn off this function because in FPS games controllers too often thought that I am switching to hand tracking, when I just attached them to the gunstock. Because this function doesn’t really need to hit one controller into another, just into anything. Because these games don't work without controllers, in result I couldn't do anything for a few seconds just like when controllers are disconnected.
Interesting but it was definitely disconnection because I had to take the batteries out to get them to start up again. So I’m assuming I slightly dislodged the battery with force
I think it's normal with fighting games. The battery dislodges for a second. The trick we use in the totf community is to wrap the battery with a rubber band before placing it in which solves the issue
@@Aitch26 it never happened to my on Quest 3 (on Quest 1 yes). Currently I have bigger rechargeable batteries, but even before with normal batteries and Eneloops it didn’t happen
Played the game sitting down the whole time. Using a chair that does not move. That way when I'm fighting it doesn't swivel around when i don't need it to. Finding the combat somewhat similar in a strange way to the iron man game, in that using the 180 turn allowed me to master the combat and only needing to turn with the sticks very little during combat.
Great video, I knew you would tell it as it is and I would find an honest review here. It looks like a fun game overall and I think I might pick it up later on a sale. I wish Meta had a rental program of sort, this gamelooks more like a weekend rental then a long time purchase.
Do you usually go for replayability then? I feel like you would consider most games as weekend rentals. Its a 10 hour game. Think meta would lose money if they did the rental system.
Still hoping for a PSVR2 version later. I know, Meta game, but there have been Meta games that came to PSVR2 before so you never know. Also, Batman is just too big of an ip to keep it exclusive, especially in a niche market like VR so who knows. Anyway, glad this turned out great, I actually prefer these "smaller, Metroidvania-type" Batman Arkham games, Asylum is my favourite as well. City and Knight were great, but I don't need everything to be open world. A more claustrophobic, intimate setting is where Batman for me really shines. It oozes atmosphere. Enjoy Quest players!

@@CarrotSurvivor after restarting the game the guys in the room came out and i was able to continue.
I finally upgraded my Quest 2 to a Quest 3 with the game. Very excited to start this! It's such a huge upgrade from the 2 to 3!
Game is amazing,it keeps me going until my battery dies and then I have to wait 2hours before I can get back on to play more 😂..Ive been playing VR since the launch of PSVR1 and there aren’t many VR games that have me this heavily invested.I’ve played it 3 times today and I hope to squeeze another session in tonight before I go to bed..I hope Metro and Behemoth will turn out to be this great
Get yourself the BOBOVR S3 headstrap with the battery pack dude. I’ve done a full review. Thats in combination with a charge and your golden
@@GAMERTAGVR yeah,I was trying to avoid getting one because 2 hour sessions were good enough but after playing Assassin’s Creed and now Batman,I definitely seen that I need one.with both of these games the low battery warning came far too soon 😂
@garrettferrell6821 if you don't want to get a headstrap. Just buy a battery bank. Around 20 quid, get one with 27,000mAh and you get around 4 hours extra. I keep it in a pocket, so it is safe.
Wish they could have added a teleport option. I’m dizzy!
Damn. Take your time and I hope it’s gets better for you soon
I played the entire game sitting in my bed. Had very few problems, especially after the first hour
Wow. That sounds kinda dull though 🤔
Traversal, stealth and visuals kinda remind me of vampire the masquerade justice.
Yeah i always play in an office swivel chair, played it a couple hours today and emulated Steven Segal quite well. Had one crash so far
Dude. I would love to see a video of this
Visuals > literally everything else
Thanks for the code mate! Can't wait to dive in!
Great review! Looking forward to playing this later today.
Thanks for watching
Getting my quest 3 this week, waiting order delivery. Not a batman fan but was curious on how it look cuz it come free with it , I'm very impressed, I'll probably give it a try
played like an hour and a half and had no crashes no bugs just the hostage police officers tied up one of them all of a sudden his legs went through the raised floor he was sat on. But only after I tried leaving without rescuing them. So maybe that bugged it somehow. other than that had no bugs and was well impressed.
I can play this game seated in my recliner chair...and i still get a good workout from it. 😂
Impressive
I'm really enjoying this game, although I don't think it looks as visually i great as I hoped it would. Great game though.
Steven Seagal and gifted in the same sentence. There's a first for everything. Lol. Awesome review! 😁
😂 cheers man
Well you just earned a sub with the Segal , chair fighting reference!
Segal is good for something then 😉
So im guessing as a PSVR2 gang member, i need to buy a quest 3 now to replace my quest 2
Yes. I would check out my Quest 3S review
You already got me with hello
I clicked on your posted 10% affiliate code and claimed it. Thank you!
So glad to see what you can expect with this game, and looks cool 👌
I’m in luck, I use a swivel stool for Dungeons of Eternity. It works like a charm. It will come in handy for this game! Can’t wait to buy it!
Very cool
So happy this game delivered. I'll probably pick it up the weekend when i'm not drained from work. I usually like to play seated so will be interesting to see how it goes. That Seagal clip was so good 😂
We're to the point were graphics are distractingly bad on mobile. It's good enough to even make me say wow a few times. Never had that reaction with Quest 2 games.
I haven’t crashed yet, but I had a bug at the beginning where my arms were like crippled and coming out of my neck after activating detective mode for the first time (by accident) 🤣. It straightened itself out though. 8.5/10 for me so far
😂 I never had that one. Batman Arkham Contortionist
I have quest 3 psvr2 and pcvr and let me tell you after playing a couple of hours of this game this is the kind of games I really want to see come to VR this is a flawless experience and would put it with the greats like half life alyx horizon zero dawn vr and asgards erath blade sorcery skyrim vrthis made my top 10 list for VR games amazing game if you get a chance to try this try it
I tried and installed it .
Arkham is back AND in VR. Sign me up!
It’s so good
Looking forward to playing this one .GT👍
Thanks for watching
Maybe it doesn't translate while in video, but It doesn't look any better than Asgard's Wrath 2 or Assassin's creed.
That's because it still is a standalone game on a mobile chip. It's impressive tho.
@@RussBlake80 No, I'm not saying it doesn't look great. Among the best.
But he just says early in the video that its "The best looking game he's seen on Quest" And that feels like a stretch.
I can't wait! I love handcrafted linear games.
this game is 10/10
I just played the whole game seated with no problems, not really sure what that complaint was??
Great review. Thanks GT. I haven’t played it yet but I will!
I can only play VR games sitting down, because otherwise I get dizzy really quick. I will still give a try as the meta quest return policy is 2 hours of gameplay, nothing to lose!
Looks great and I’m not even a super hero guy
Hey GT, enjoyed the honest review.
Can you turn off the HUD or hit markers?
I dont believe so right now
Played the game sitting down the whole time.
At least you have the 2 hour refund policy
@@GAMERTAGVR True, I forgot about that.
Thanks for the comment and it would be awesome if it came to more platforms
I don't know of any meta games were they owned the studio and it came to another platform
Huh? Which Meta published games have come to PSVR?
@@robarmstrong5404the Darth Vader episodic series came to psvr1 I think the new Star Wars and Jurassic world vr game are oculus made but they were quest exclusive and brought to psvr2 at launch I’m not sure of any others!!
Appreciate the discount code! Thank you!
Thanks Phil
To be honest turning using the joystick does feel unnatural indeed
It does to me. I would rather turn naturally
I just played it for about an hour on the 3s it's pretty awesome! How do I get LR inverted and I feel like it thinks I'm squatting a little all the time. Didn't realize I was right in front of my tv and I punched it throwing the m cocktail, it was just the corner luckily.
If your height doesn’t get recalibrated in the game. Redo your guardian.
Downloaded it yesterday but forgot to charge my headset lol I’ll be playing all day today after work 😅
Man I used to hate that so I got a charge stand instead
it would be so cool to see a martial artist play through this game
Performance leaves something to be desired, but I'm having too much fun to care.
I agree, some things will definitely be patched out. Hopefully sooner than later. But overall the game is pretty stellar
My oculus will be in tomorrow. Can you recommend a game for me? Is onward still popular?
Pavlov and contractor showdown are the most popular online shooters
It's a buy for me, looks amazing.
On a different note, do you know what the recent update was for Iron man on quest 3, it was quite big.
Ohhh no I don’t. I’ll take a look
Any chance you can follow up if the technical issues have been addressed?
Thanks GT.
this is making it so difficult to wait until christmas to open my quest…..
Don’t wait!
