You pretty much can't go wrong with listening to any Band-Maid song. They are all catchy in different ways. They do all types of rock but somehow keep it a Band-Maid song. And you can't go wrong with any of their live shows. Even some of the fancams are not bad because it shows them performing for the crowd.

This was their first video. It serves as a great intro to the band, which is why the fans always request it before the others. The videos do get better. This is just a basic everyone shooting in a white room but it helps showcase their talent and makes you want to go down the rabbit hole of their catalog.

That's their first MV and it's fairly old. Also, they sound much better Live. Their live performance is amazing. Make sure to check out their songs from their 2018 Tour like "Onset" and "Real Existence". The 2020 Tour "Play", "Freedom", "Domination", "Choose Me", and others. They really do sound better live. That shows you how good Band-Maid truly is. They are top notch band. Great composition, song, melodies...and just kick ass rock!

@@Kurisutah You may want to check out some of their interviews available here on TH-cam (especially their Goldrush Interview). They tend to introduce themselves and speak more about their characters and relationships/friendships within the band. Over the years it's been fun to see them grow together through their interviews and to see the 2 shy members of the band (bassist MISA and lead vocalist Saiki) begin to find that self-confidence that seemed missing early on. Sometimes I find myself wishing that talented people had more confidence in themselves.

"Thrill" was the first Band-Maid song/video that I heard/saw. I thought it was good but not great and it didn't really motivate me to want to hear more. A couple of weeks later a music reactor that I respect did "Onset" so I watched that. I thought it was the best song I'd heard in decades. So then I started watching more videos. "Freedom" - very, very good. "Domination" - excellent. "Real Existence" - excellent. "Dice" - very, very good. Hmmm, I'm starting to see a trend. You know, over the years I have repeatedly bought many albums or CD's from a group just to get a handful of good songs. Band-Maid doesn't seem to have any mediocre songs. They're all good!

My favorite members are Kanami and MISA for their skill in playing. Also, learning this on guitar was really fun. The guitar solo was easier than I thought
Thanks... but did you get a lot of requests for Thrill specifically? It’s their breakout song but not representative of what they are capable of and what their sound is like now. If you really want to see them having natural fun on stage, “Freedom” live on their channel is a great example.
Agreed. Yet on the other hand, I think it adds something to follow their (or any band's) evolution chronologically. And you don't want someone's first exposure to be to a group's best work and then have everything else be kind of a letdown in comparison. Fortunately with Band-Maid, one's least favorite song is still highly listenable, _e.g._ fans saying, "_Maid In Japan_ is too pop-rock for me to be a favorite...but I still listen to it at least occasionally."

OK this is their first video and lots has changed. First SAIKI had a very damaged voice and eventually had a much needed operation. She sounds fantastic now. Check out BLOOMING or Dice probably their 2 most popular songs. There are actually 3 singers with the third singer mainly doing the acoustic versions as a duo with SAIKI. They have about 90 songs all different and all good with yet even more music to be released in about a month. They are unbelievable live and most fans prefer the live clips with just a couple of exceptions, RINNE, BLOOMING and DICE. Live clips from the LINE cube concert in SHIBUYA are especially appreciated particularly DOMINATION and FREEDOM. THE DRAGON CRIES is in English. Don't ignore their oldest songs like FREEZER and SHAKE THAT. When the new music drops it's going to be insane so get up to speed. Check out the acoustic version of PUZZLE. There are videos of their funny moments and there are plenty of those because they are quite wacky. It would take all day to explain all their quirks but they are funny and have interesting personality traits. One of them is a pigeon one is a gorilla one collects sneakers and toy trains one is a heavy drinker one is in love with the lead singer they cast a spell on the audience every concert and roam. Around the stage like lost dogs Saiki quite often rubbing her feet with her back to the audience. They sit down and watch each other at any given time during the concert and some of their interviews are funny. Please fully explore this great band. You have only heard one song and whilst they have no bad songs they have many better songs than Thrill. I urge you to keep going. You can put ASIAN people on the top rung of humanity. Miku (playing the Rick 620) is the band's founder and original lead singer. She didn't think her voice was strong enough to carry it, so she fired herself and hired Saiki.

I feel what you mean about liking the band and the song but not so much the video. I recommend that you watch the live version. Performing live is where these ladies really shine. They seem to really enjoy interacting with the audience, not to mention they seem to do a lot of goofing on each other during live shows. One of my favorites is when they try to get Akane (drummer) to mess up during her solo.
BTW. You can always be proud to be an Asian woman.

@@Kurisutah they are pretty much always messing with each other, so it's hard to point to just one. However, here's a link to a video posted by a member of the audience. There's several examples of what I mean, as well as the fun that Miku has with the crowd. Some of it at the expense of the other band members, especially Akane (drummer).
The comments on this video are worth looking at as well. (There are less than 80 of them.)
It isn't shown in this video, but often, during her drum solo, the rest of the band will gather around Akane and make funny faces at her trying to get her to mess up. So far, I've not seen that happen. She just keeps on smiling and beating her drums without missing a beat. I once heard a reviewer talking about how good a drummer Akane is. He said, "Her timing is so good that you can set your watch to this girl."

This was the first song I heard from Band Maid. There is something about this song that I really enjoy even more than their newer music. There is another new band from Japan that I think is on their way up. The band is called Hagane and they have 2 videos so far called "Wintry Sky" and "Labradorite". I think they are both excellent songs. These young ladies have a big future just need exposure. Thanks and hope you give a listen and react to both.

I live in Tokyo and over the years, I have only ever met one other Band-Maid fan outside of the concerts. They are growing steadily, but are still pretty much unknown in Japan.

Do yourself a favor and keep listening to them. There are a lot of us who count them easily as our favorite band today. This is early Band-Maid, and as good as this is, you MUST see their more recent live stuff. You'll get a lot of recommendations, but mine for your next song is Real Existence LIVE - th-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/w-d-xo.html just to see them kicking butt live, and then just keep going on their YT page - they don't make bad songs and their songs have a lot of variety. Plus they are kick ass musicians.
This is great song, and truthfully, this album is great, but they didn't write it. Their early record company supposedly wouldn't let them. I'm glad they changed record companies that allowed them to do whatever they want.

After you have have reacted to some of their live concert videos - definitely the best way to experience them - check out their alter ego Band Maiko. It's probably best to begin with "Secret Maiko Lips." It was originally done as an April Fools joke for their fans, but turned into a whole separate stream of music.

Their second wave was self-inflicted when a Hotel manager working at Hotel Quarantine of returning travellers caught the virus lunchroom spread to guards and out into the community at large. So they went from a nationwide lockdown triggered by 100 cases a day to a second lockdown with over 700 cases a day in their state only.
