Thanks for the shout out! Absolutely agree with what you said at around 15:00! Testing your vertical...or doing max jumps to a target is the most important and most specific exercise!!! Has helped me a ton these last few months as I've done that more than I have in years...maybe ever!
If you think about it, as human, we are designed for endurance, not explosiveness. This is why we don't have the capability to produce a force output that completely translate all of our stamina in a single movement. For example, in a workout, we can do 5 sets of 1 max effort jump, aka 100% x 5 but not a max effort jump that is equal to 5 jumps together which means 500% x 1. However, we don't have such video games-like options.
Yo, I love it when you guys add more of the histological and physiological aspects of the podcast which makes me do research reading a lot to answer my questions. Like this one, what can we do to add horrific stimuli to these type of muscle fibers and build more alpha stimulating neurons and building firing nervous tissue?
Not sure why the other dude was so weird about Isaiah speaking into the mic and holding it a certain distance away. These mic’s are literally designed to clip onto your shirt and capture your voice exactly like how Isaiah had it set up and his voice was crystal clear when he was just talking normally.
John really knows it! Intent is all what matters! It'S not about heavy lifting. Max intent does not mean max load. It's more about max acceleration/deceleration! Achieving a high intent is a only possible if one is ready, fresh/rested and most important have high focus and motivation! This is why it's useless to just go throug the motions. We must focus on the task and also like it (be motivated) in some way too get good results. This is why over 90% of people don't improve in theire training at some point. They aren'T focused/motivated enough. Neurotransmitters like Dopamine and hormones like Testosteron play a huge role in focus and motivation!
John, you mention that you love to lob the ball high and then go get it, what do u think about a toll that would hald the ball high and function like a vertec so u can see how high u caught the ball and more systematically progress instead of assuming the lob was higher/lower
You don’t know what you’re talking about respectfully, everyone has both types of muscle fibers, some people have more of either but it’s really hard to tell, and a 20 inch vertical untrained shows you have more slow twitch
My background is in distance running (XC / track in high school) and run a few times a week with a run club. I’m 30 years old and looking to start vertical jump training. Is it possible to increase vertical while continuing to do distance running or is it a bad idea? Been doing squats, cleans, and RDLs past two weeks.
If you interested check the jacked athlete podcast with Anthony Height. The guy says he has a 50+ inches vertical but just need 42 to do a BTL so he never jumps maximally. He also speaks about his jump technique and says the most important thing for him is stretching. Interesting but he’s definitely an anomaly… and normal humans can’t learn much of his experience.
Hey Guys Idk if you will actually See this Rn i ma playing 4th highest LEague in Germany Volleyball and I am wondering if you could help me out for an Off Season Gym Trainingsplan would appreciated and answer so we can talk in more deep
Probably a lot, i'm 6'3, 185lbs, with a 41 max vert and a 300 lbs squat. I have relatively long limbs. If you are a 1 foot jumper you could gain as much as 9, but probably 6. inches. But if you are a 2 foot I would probably guess around 2-3.

Very informative! Thanks!👍

Just joined THP how long does it take for it to be accepted in the Skool app and to train?
All my muscles are fast twitch and I have a 20 inch vertical
You cant have all fast twitch muscle fibers thats impossible
Whenever bro wants to walk anywhere, he just bounds 10 steps, gets gassed and then just rests until he's ready to go again. 😂

Wdym bro😅.I have 35 inch vert and still be able to jogging some distance. It’s cannot be pure fast twitch bro,you will gas out by walking😂.
Mines are fast and I have a 51 inch vertical

What is y’all take on vertimax do y’all think vertimax can recruit and build type 2x fast twitch muscle fibers?
I wonder what the Maasai tribe think about all this Gibberish :D
Just kidding ... Keep up the great work
15:20 couldnt agree more
Crispy quality damn
