  • Part 2 of my How to Budget in New York series!
    In this video, I teach you how to budget while grocery shopping. I spend about $45/week for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday - Thursday and then breakfast and lunch for Friday and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. This is the best way to save money instead of going out to eat every day.
    HOW TO MAKE BAKED CHICKEN THIGHS:
    + 4 chicken thighs
    + Pour soy sauce over chicken
    + Sprinkle Montreal Seasoning over chicken
    + Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes

    Maybe a cool video idea would be shopping a super cheap grocery store run (for value) vs a whole foods type of store (for organic/convenience)

      ooh that would be interesting! I did do something like that for my own knowledge and found that trader joes and fairway was only about $1 or more per item.

    You can also try using coupons when shopping to get more bang for your buck.

    Expensive. I live in Zurich (most expensive city in the world) and EVERYTHING you bought except for the meat is cheaper here at Lidl or Aldi

    Big THANKS for doing this shopping video at Whole Foods especially. My son is moving there soon and we were wondering the ability and cost to buy healthy foods. This was perfect! Would love to see a video of lower manhanttan walking to places.... just a way for us to tour it as someone living there. Thanks again!

      Cost wise he's much better off going to Trader Joes! They have a good variety of healthy foods for a quarter of the price of whole foods. I'm a college student in lower Manhattan, and I only go to Trader Joes.

    Well done. Your grocery isn't included any junk food ( soda, juice, cookie...ect). So you are typically eat the same food every single day then when It comes to next week, you will buy different ingredients ?

    • @BrittanyTran
      @BrittanyTran  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, I generally cook once on Monday for the week and I get free lunch at work but if I didn't I would just pack lunch (sandwiches or salads). I will switch it up and do different meats and vegetables for the week.

    I like the idea of this video, however, I don't think most people eat the same items 4 days in a row. When variety is added into the mix, the food would definitely get more expensive.
    That being said, if you buy food for 2 people (different items) then you would definitely get more variety and perhaps only a little more than what you spent per person.
    Keep up with the videos!

    • @BrittanyTran
      @BrittanyTran  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha yeah I guess I am unique in that I don't get sick of eating the chicken every day. but I do switch it up between the weeks so then other weeks I might do beef or salmon or something else. It's just easiest to make all 4 of the chicken thighs on Monday and then eat it the rest of the week.

    Quit the organics and shop at western beef. For the amount you spend at whole foods, I can walk out of there with food for a month.

    Lmao why are you going to Whole Foods and talking about budgeting

    • @BrittanyTran
      @BrittanyTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      in manhattan where I live all the nearby grocery stores are pretty expensive so whole foods was only $1 or so more than other places and for convenience since I could walk there and carry my groceries, it's the best option.
