you are only one of two of my favorite you tube teachers that talk of the forward side bend. i incorporated this about 4 months ago and much to my surprise....the ball flies off the club....thankyou thankyou thankyou.i also have your yellow book...good stuff.
Best golf video that explains how everything works. I’ve been playing golf for 25 years. Achieved a 4 handicap by cheat swinging. I’m an 8 today at the age of 57. My contact has always been poor. So I decided to make drastic changes to become a better ball striker. 3 years have gone by and haven’t broke 80. Getting discouraged trying hard but nothing. Never knew how to turn either way. Well after watching this video one time and hitting 30 min worth of range balls I shot a 77. I am so pleased to finally know what to work on. Thanks again for the greatest video ever
Thank you, very much. Just enough simplicity coupled with good technique. I've been having problems with thin iron shots and low pulls. After seeing this, I'm fairly sure what I need to do. I look forward to seeing more.
So many lessons I had videos & private. Spent countless hours practicing & still couldn't do it right. I've made great contact & flight but non-consistent. Lately I spent more time doing head to wall drills & now this?! Boom! You saved the day! I got it down. Now I need to do it every day & practice on the range only weekends. You are truly an amazing teacher (just don't tell my coach that) lol. A giant thanks!
Sidebend was the answer the 30 years of frustration. Last scramble I got closest to pin and we won the scramble with 80 players. I was turning my shoulders flat like you said with my shoulders. Thanks so much
I've played for years and always struggled with a way to think about the backswing -- and the sidebend explanation here just did wonders for my ball striking -- thanks so much!
When I get my irons going I guess I am doing the "lean in". I initiate the lean in downswing by almost pausing at the top where my left shoulder touches my chin (very Hoganesque) then I push the shoulder down with the chin (that's the feeling) which at the same time pushes the left knee towards the target. I am going to pay more atttention to my side bends. I think doing the "squat" and keeping my butt centered against the wall has taken care of that. I used to straighten my left leg and fall back slightly causing major pulls. I'm 66 and still dream I can be a scratch golfer and I'm getting closer thanks to you Christina.
Excellent video. Very concise description of how to get the upper body into the tight positions. Took my alignment stick to the range, no tank top for me, and used it to help my practice swings. Success...it made a difference over the 50 balls. I’m impressed. Thanks for your brilliant videos.
Great explanation on how the rotation in golf swing should be. It never occurs to me that there is a side bend at the start of the backswings! I thought there is only side bend at the moment of impact. This is really and “aha!” moment for me. I tried this for a few rounds in the past weeks and I think it really shave off 3-5 strokes from my score cards! Thank you very much for putting this video together!
Your glute activation video was money for me! Now I’m looking for everything you might have that is at all related. I have issues with early extension, balance and consistent striking with my driver and I think that glutes and ground forces may be the key for me. Thank you so much!
Such great advice. The slight lean in part is so crucial and it gives you a place to flow your hands through. If you don’t lean in..your hands will push out too far in front of you on the down swing. Thanks for putting this out there!
Great video as usual. The visual and simple explanation of keeping the side bend in the backswing and downswing is excellent. My dad and I just signed up for your Sedona golf camp from March 21st to March 23rd. Can't wait!
Hi Christina as far as my lead shoulder rotating downward; for too many years my chin got in my way. Now I finally woke up and have my lead shoulder traveling towards my throat on my takeaway. Much improved so I thought I would share. Cheers
New to your site. Love the way you explain the elements of the golf swing in such a straight forward simple way. Lead with the elbow and 3 finger left hand grip to bow the wrist is really helping me finally fix those items that I e been struggling with. Looking forward to watching and learning more.
That looks really good. I was told that shouldn't move from you setup position swaying to the left. Basically as you're rotating that your heel should be coming off the ground as you're turning. I'll have to add this. Thanks great teaching.
You're funny. No cursing the instructor only veneration. I played today and topped the ball a few times and other times hit it solid. The sitting into the back hip from another video really got me to turn my chest and create lots of space for my back swing. The missing piece was not leaning into the swing first before releasing. That is a brilliant piece of information for me to know how to correct the top. Do you have any exercises or drills you do at the course or off the course to work on the side bend for each side? The lats? Going to snow here soon so will have to work on my game indoors. Thanks from Canada!!!
Side bend on backswing is what I am missing! Also the lean in on the backswing is a great move! I have been playing for years and seeing you explain these steps a lightbulb just turned on! I am going to the range and try your simple steps today. Great swing btw :)
Great explanation! Easiest to understand and implement. I have the tilts and sidebends down. Could never figure out how once in a blue moon would hit my 9 or 8 irons 15 yds.+ carry distance. Now when I incorporate this lean in move compression is so much better it feels like the weight of the club is being driven through the ball not at it on an angle. All the good pros have this lean in to varying degrees but when I made this move it was by accident and couldn't feel or figure out how I was doing this. Thanks to you maybe I can break par again! How is this move different for the driver? Grateful for this video. Thank you!!!!
I have been watching your videos every once of while but now you got my subscription and like because of this great video thanks very much I just like to tell us the complete sequins of the swing with this missing link in mind
i get that! its creating an equal and opposing mass ,as the force of the clubhead increases, it would pull you into an off plane position ,or not maintaining the arc, so its the `counter balance` (reciprocating mass)👍
Thank you for the great lessons. Is the lean in a slide? I have been practicing your method in my garden net and I'm hitting the ball much cleaner. I'm just a bit worried that I'll begin to slide too much which has been my main problem. I really want to take this forced holiday to hone a swing like yours. Thanks again. Xx
Great video, at least for me 😀 made me understand this „missing link“, cause i always tended not to get my right shoulder down in the downswing (stayed more or less level) what caused for topped shots. Many thanx and all the best in the new year!
Outstanding instruction. Start the downswing with the hips, then swap lead shoulder for trail shoulder. Power is in the turn, not the arms. Great video!
Christina, I need your help. Trying to hit my 7 iron and running into problems. If I do side bend then am I not putting my sternum in the correct place? Lastly, I love squat and extend/jump but when I squat I end up shallowing out my club more and chunking the ball or a weak right. Is not roaring after the squat the problem? Thanks, Tim from California looking forward to a lesson one day.
:) awesome instruction ... what a great training drill ... I need to go get me some of that technology to hold that shaft in place lol 😂... great vid once again cheers 👌👋😀
Great tips. With the driver set up, should I be setting up with my right shoulder lower than the left one? So it's the opposite for irons? My left shoulder should be lower at address with irons?
I teach also. Do this and change your game! Blading. Your chip shots. ? Add some bend with a little right knee to the left leg. Ahhh that's the feel Soft and solid 👌. Thanks for the video pro !
I think the lean may be a key move I'm missing and I'm going to work on it today. One question: can you please tell me what powers the rotation - legs, hips, back? What specific muscles cause the rotation? I can clearly see I've been doing the downswing wrong. Thanks for the really fine lesson!
Great video Christina, most golfers I see don't rotate enough especially in the backswing which causes issues leading into the downswing. This really helps. Cheers, Troy
If I'm not mistaken you had a shorter video of the counter intuitive bend toward target and turn drill that I can't seem to find. Breathtakingly simple way to recover what the swing should feel like that I thank you for.
Yes, especially clubs for slower swing players. Too many timed you see reviews of clubs for mif to high swing speed players. Thank you for this vid. Easy one of the best on YT.
@@ottovandieren7722 I have a relatively slow swing speed. I switched to graphite shaft irons and am getting effortless distance. I have both Taylor Made M2 and Callaway RAZR, circa 2016...both are great.
Great video Christana, I will try this tomorrow at the range. Presume this applies to driver as well? Happy New Year from your UK viewers. Cheers, Andy.

I've watched a lot of videos trying to find a backswing and this is IT. Your tips transformed my swing. Thank you VERY MUCH!
Thank you, very much. Just enough simplicity coupled with good technique.
I've been having problems with thin iron shots and low pulls.
After seeing this, I'm fairly sure what I need to do.
I look forward to seeing more.
I have never seen a better tip online. All the power is stored up with this move in your hip. It’s effortless and in control, thank you!
Best explanation I have seen and will certainly refocus on these basics thank you so much
Awesome tip dropped 10 strokes following your advice! Good for 67 year old! Thanks your the best!

Great training video. Clear and simple steps. Not too many things on which to focus.
Beautiful lesson...superbly explained thank you

I really appreciate your videos! Thanks for providing simple explanations and visuals.
wish i woulda had this when I was eight! brilliant, chris
I was hitting the ball nicely but losing 1 - 1/2 clubs distance. The "missing piece" cured it and got my draw back! TYVM

most helpful video I have seen
😲🤯 The lean in!!!! That’s(!) what I was missing 😟. 🙏🏽 CR!

Bravo Christina..!
I’ve been putting my shaft in the wrong place the entire time! Now I know exactly what to do. Thank you!
great instruction technique .. thanks .. helps a lot!
Great tip, easy to follow! Can’t wait to try it out

Excellent explanation subscribed
i think i got it. this should get me rotating mo betta. is that the range at atkinson n.h.?
Is there any drill to lean in first and then rotate upper body in downswing?
Hi Christina, thank you for this video. Do you tilt (consciously) your trail right shoulder when you do this side bend in downswing? Thanks..
Great video, like the pre-side bend drill, makes it easy to feel proper position at top of backswing.
Great explained
Great tips. With the driver set up, should I be setting up with my right shoulder lower than the left one? So it's the opposite for irons? My left shoulder should be lower at address with irons?

Thanks for this video. I have been watching this each morning to remind me of the move and it has dramatically improved my striking
Excellent video! From Portugal, always waiting for your videos :-D
Can we say that lean in is just lateral move towards the target? Thanks.
Excellent video, Side bend or tilt is seldom talked about
