History Note: Elizabeth Luxford was the first American divorcee. Her husband, it turned out, was already married in England. Puritan culture was horrified by this case, seeing it as a challenge to the sanctity of marriage. They had had two children together, but the marriage was bigamous. Elizabeth was granted the divorce, and later seems to have remarried. Her children lived to be baptized in the church, but by that time Elizabeth had passed away. The divorce was cited repeatedly in the courts of America as the foundation for the ending of marriage for decades to come. So when Nellie's husband says, "You're no Elizabeth Luxford," he means she has no grounds for divorce under the law.
1:55:11 Oh yeah, Houska Castle is a real place in Czech republic, I'm not surprised they mentioned it here, it has a bunch of legends attached to it, everything from hauntings to it being "built above entrance to Hell"
Per Google translate the French spoken by Prudence at around the 57:00 mark (Je sais que t'es la! Vas-y, montre-toi! Lache! Tu m'as prise pour qui?Je ne me laisserai pas faire! Ah! Tu fais moins le fier maintenant!) translates to English as "I know you're there! Go ahead, show yourself! Coward! Who did you take me for? I won't let it happen! Ah! You're less proud now!" Great stream!
I just noticed something. The nightmare Lady in the beginning of the game looks burnt. The Salem witch trials started 1692, so two years prior to the game, but witch trials were already held (although sparsely) since 1647. She might hate the town, because they burnt her. And she might hate love because one reason to accuse a woman of witchcraft was cause you committed adultery to sleep with her and saying she bewitched you instead of blaming yourself was easier.
They hanged or crushed the witches in Salem, not burned. The idea that they were burned came from sensationalized tellings later on (though witches were burned in Europe, a couple centuries earlier).
Spoilers for the end of the episode: I found Thickskins actions more monstrous than the Beast they created. I also didnt hesitate in my choice, though I picked the opposite of Gab. She also, by sending Doolan to die with the other group, cemented her authority and position of power as the only skilled shooter - making those she deemed 'worthy'of saving all the more dependent on her. Icky with a side of premeditated murder was not how I was expecting this questline to go - for either of us! I can't wait to see what other terrible things Don't Nod has in store for the rest of the game
While I don't personally hunt/skin, I do process wool and other fibers and skinny sick animals do not produce good fiber. Starved wolves would produce poor pelts, probably no more then scraps. So happy to have a long video to clean fiber too. So happy to enjoy this journey with good company. 🙂
The big guy in the nest around the 36 min mark was so easy because you got a buff for the duration of the nest that increased your damage with each hit, that would have reset when taken damage. You got through that whole fight w/o taking any damage as far as I could see, and the damage went up by a lot for each enemy. Your first hits did 6 and 7 damage, the two hits that took out the big guy did 254 and 208 damage. *That* is why he was so easy. 😊 tl;dr: big guy was easy because you *aced* that fight! 🙌
The delivery of "A weak gigachad... who would've thought." made me chuckle. What a wonderful little line; thanks for making my day that much better with your commentary!
The Beast battle was epic! Looking forward to more boss battles! Kate's lover did look like the nightmare. That would be interesting if that is her. The nightmare did say love fails.
This game is so beautiful. The monsters are amazing. I love that Red keeps saying 'oh shite' too. My grandad was irish and that was something he would often say in annoyance, so it feels nicely nostalgic to hear haha
While I really enjoyed the video (I'm always impressed with Gab's skills handling the fights, for one) and had a blast for most of it, I really can't agree with the decision to spare Thickskin. She acted as if she could judge the "weakness" of settlers as an objective thing like their age or height, but what caused the ones we saw to blow the whistles? An injury, incurred by making their way over treacherous terrain in bad weather. Something that could happen to and debilitate ANYONE, no matter how healthy or strong, especially in an age without modern medicine. Thickskin didn't see weakness, she saw a convenient excuse to thin the settler's numbers to stave off famine. It was no different than drawing lots and shooting the ones who got unlucky, except that this way she got to stack the deck and save the people she liked. Imo the settlers would be better off with no leader at all than with a leader like her. (It's also a bit odd to act as if the settlers will just completely fall apart without her, especially now that - without the Beast around - they can presumably gather and hunt in the forest again and are no longer dependent on her as the sole hunter. Like really, we're supposed to believe that NOBODY else in the whole group has ANY leadership skills, so we must stick it out with her regardless of her rotten morals? Kate, for example, seemed to be doing a decent job leading when Thickskin was away. Sure, Kate's no saint, but surely she's an improvement over a woman who essentially decided to do a secret stacked death lottery with the people she was supposed to protect as a leader?)
I agree man. But, I think for the sake of the story for future consequences, keeping at least Kate alive means you learn more about the nightmare, which seems to be her dead lover angry at the whole town for how she died and Kate is a big reason why she is dead. Hopefully by sparing them, even though they SHOULD die, the story fills out more because you let them live despite it all. And maybe the settlers will find out too and bring better justice than just killing them in the woods.
As much as I fully think Thickskin deserves to be sacrificed or at the very least thrown in jail or anything like that, I hate to say the town needs her. They don't have any other hunters of her talent and she serves the town with both protection and food from her hunts. Red's speciality is not hunting, despite all the wolves he kills. He doesn't have the time to protect the town all on his own nor does he plan on staying here longterm.
I think your view point is a bit naive that time period was people clawed for survival it's easy to sit on a moral high horse when you have a grocery store and a vehicle lol and i really doubt they could gain the necessary hunting skills to not starve to death in three weeks this was a time period where every one was ruthless and if the shoe was on the other foot they people who died would have made the same choice she did staving off starvation was the their primary concern every single day something we can't even understand
These character models are so good, I wouldn't be surprised if they used scans of real faces and just mixed things up to make everyone... even Nellie in the beginning had that little mole under her eye... everyone is so detailed and there's such attention to making them individuals and recognizable.
So glad you decided to continue this series! Loving it so much, sat and watched this playthrough on my TV with a glass of wine and popcorn! It’s so engaging!
I'm 28 hours into Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and I absolutely love this game so much. It's honestly one of the best games of this type I've ever played and is so much better than some AAA games I've played in recent years.
I am really enjoying this game! I’ve encouraged my sister to watch the play-through because I feel like this game would be right up her alley. Thanks for posting a part 3
One thing I've been realizing, Gab. It is super helpful (once you know you're gonna play multiple eps of a game) to have a link to your created playlist for the series you're playing, in the current ep's video Info box. It might help lead people to your other parts in your playthrough more immediately and easily. Heh, and might even bump view counts a bit. Just a thought that came to mind. That's a win-win for everyone. :)
I have really enjoyed that all of these stories behind the hauntings have featured love stories to a certain extent whether friendship or marriage. It really makes the game mechanic of choosing who to blame or give a happy ending depending on scenario more meaningful as your main characters are a couple separated by no choice of their own. Some of these deaths aren't blameless but you can still choose to be merciful playing Red who's still grieving even though Anthea is right by his side.
Hey Gab there’s this super relaxing game called Mutazione on Steam that I think you’ll really love. You play as a young girl who travels to her mothers childhood home and takes care of her sick grandfather.
Houska castle is an actual historical place nicknamed as the gateway to hell ^..^ Its located in the Czech republic (my country) Im so happy to see it mentioned somewhere ❤
3:01:46 strength is to help the weak, strength is to build up others so that they can walk beside you, strength is believing in one’s goal while listening to others and humble about one’s own flaws. We humans biggest strength is teamwork, survival of the fittest is narcissistic cowardly way.
As much as I love this gameplay, at 3 hour mark I cannot disagree more with the decision. Thickskin all but signed death warrants on every poor soul she gave those dog whistles to, hoping they would die as it means less mouths to feed. It's no different than giving these settlers "emergency rations" filled with poison. She shows no regret, no guilt, no remorse. Nothing. The woman knows *children* were eaten alive and she has not a shred of empathy. She only "takes care of those survivors" as long as the survivors are healthy and fit. Otherwise, in her book it's okay to murder them. Yes, less people means it's easier to feed them, but it makes her no less of a monster for murdering *children,* the elderly and other innocent people. It was a horrid way to die too, torn apart by a pack of starving wolves. How is that more of a mercy than starving? Is it mercy to force a mother watch her children ripped apart by wild animals? Or for kids to watch their parents die? By Thickskin way of leading, if someone gets sick or injured she'll murder them or abandon them to die another horrific death. If someone gets pregnant - the same, because new mouth to feed among other things. Gods only know how many Specters, Bone-walkers, Scourages Thickskin herself is responsible for, in turn being responsible for even more deaths. To quote the settlers - Thickskin should've rotten in hell.
I do totally agree because Thickskin is such a bad person but I also agree with Gab's reasoning. If she chose to kill Thickskin then that would mean a whole settlement would be without a leader, bad a person as she is, she knows how to lead. All those people would have no chance of suriving. More people would just die without Thickskin and if she stays alive, it leaves room for her to improve and atone for her actions.
@@afikalindegaard3350 I'd think that if Thickskin dies, it leaves room for Kate to become a leader in her stead since she seems capable enough *and* has room for compassion, plus she does feel guilt and remorse for her actions.
@@MedicineForNormality Yeah I thought about that as well and not to say that Kate is incompetent because it's clear that her sister underestimates her but I think that just practically speaking, Thickskin is more skilled at just surviving. I would hope that because Thickskin has seen what could happen when she screws people over, she'll never do it again and maybe she'll start respecting her sister more. She's obviously a super bad person but it feels like a huge waste of her skills if she dies
Gab, I want you to know that you are keeping me company as I go through a somewhat meh phase. I feel so at ease watching you that I sometimes fall asleep and get frustrated and have to go back and re-watch some bits haha Thank you so much for giving us all this content. Please know that you are very loved 💜
Thickskin gave your character a dog whistle too, she wanted you gone just like the others. I would've gotten rid of her, but that boss fight was EPIC!!
I love how this game has many stories beside the main one! The sisters has to be the best so far! The game also reminds me of "the medium" 😔💞 The voice acting in this one 10/10 🎉 Thank u for continuing to play the game 🤜🤛 If its u ill keep watiching no matter what game it is💛💗💛
Ahhh yes, the Abhorsen series reference! One of my favs. I have a tattoo of some of the runic symbols from the series. Its a MUST read if u dig this game!
This game reminds me of the Witcher 3 a bit. The way it's voiced, the vibes, and the Antea pov reminds me of Geralts witcher senses. I love watching you play these kinds of games ^^
Great game to watch for sure! I love this playthrough! I watched it all at once and noticed one of those glowing things were way back near the beginning of the zone high up in a tree. I hope to see more of this well done!
Although I understand wanting to save people from suffering, as Antea said, Thickskin sent then away to die to make her job as "leader" easier. If the rest had made it back they'd have 2 sharpshooters to hunt, and no scourge to drive away game with it's curse. She made a choice that was not her choice to make. How you die should be your choice and yours only. And in all honesty, is being mauled by wolves better than starving? At least at camp they'd get a proper burial
Im so excited! I've had a rough week and had to go to the ER last night because of a migraine thats been causing me to have some seizures. I love just relaxing and listening to your videos, they make me feel much better 💜
I appreciate your vibes so much and love this playthrough! I was able to catch up so now I'm waiting eagerly for the next episode! So excited you're playing this game. Hopefully your series will encourage others to give it some love too!
Got a new sub because of this game i absolutely love it. Finished the game myself... I love watching people enjoy things. And youll enjoy this. I look forward to seeing your other stuff
Really enjoying this series and its stories, the characters and voice acting, and it's extra enjoyable to see you enjoying it too! I hope we get to watch you play it to its end :)
I want you to know that I'm absolutely LOVING this game so far. I probably won't be able to play it myself as just watching you play is getting me motion sick (which happens to me a lot) but my goodness, what an engaging time I'm having watching you play
I'm loving this game & series so so much! and I completely agree, if you love this kind of genre, definitely pick up Sabriel by Garth Nix (the old kingdom series). the whole entire series is one of my absolute favorites and has a lot to do with this kind of stuff and a bit of semi-similar world building, but not too much. I re-read the series about twice a year, so I think I'm definitely going to have to pick this game up now for sure! thank you so much gab for the amazing videos as always 💜
so far you've made the same choices as i did. Funny to see your reaction to it all. Another reason why i didnt sacrifice thickskin is bc she is way to important to the camp. The people in that camp would die without her.
Really glad to see this continued. Was worried for it after the car game came out and you seem to have a lot on your plate right now.. thanks for the upload.
I have another interesting theory what if by banishing a sprite you make the night merore stronger and you have to fight the banished spirits in the final battle that would be a shocking twist. especially if she can call them back to take their judgment out on you and fight you while you fight her. She seems to like that taking every advantage she can get to destroy you and anyone who helps you.
I’m loving this play through so much. I don’t play games with heavy combat elements, otherwise this would be an insta-purchase. Thanks for the content, hope you are doing well, Gab. 😊😊
Cutting money was not illegal, like it is now. In fact, it was expected that, to make change, they literally cut the coins into 8 pieces or "bits." Hence, the British called the Spanish dollar a "Piece of Eight," and when they said something cost "two bits," they meant it cost a quarter of a dollar.
This game is soooooo good!! I love watching you play it and truly hope you do it all! I would have never known about this majesty unless for you! Thank you much and I appreciate you! *fanciful bow with top hat and all* haha
Man the music playing at the end (when Kate sees Deborah and begs her for forgiveness).... I wish they released the soundtrack for this game Edit: just found out the composer/one of the producers of the score is Trevor Morris (Dragon Age Inquisition, Vikings the TV series, Castlevania animated series, etc). That explains a lot and unfortunately he doesn't always releases his music😢 Here is to hoping it will happen later on🤞
(Gab comes upon the mine for the first time) Me: ".....she's gonna say it! I'm waiting for her to say it, I look forward to the usual Lord of the Rings quotes........." (Gab doesn't say it) .......few minutes later....... Gab: "And they call it.......a MINEEEEEE." Me: YUSSSS! heh heh heh Two things I livee for in your vid,s Gab. Metal Gear Solid quoting and refs, and Lord of the Rings quoting and refs. You're reliability (and good taste) is a comfort in this world. :) :)
The bear in that movie was a skinwalker. Skinwalker try to get you to knowledge it by using the voices to lower you in if you don’t acknowledge it in it will go away. It was a really cool creature in that movie, it almost seemed accurate to the design of a real Skinwalker in my mind. Lol
ya, it is one bullet at a time for now muskets are strate lead and fire you can only shoot one bullet at a time and it takes time to reload so not a good weapon for close combat and great for distant attacks.
The Spanish dollar coin was worth eight reales and could be physically cut into eight pieces, or "bits," to make change -- hence the colloquial name "pieces of eight." The dollar coin could also be cut into quarters, and "two bits" became American slang for a quarter dollar, or 25 cents.
Thats fascinating. Thank you x
@@kelknoxYou’re welcome!
Can mention that pieces of eight also was an international currency hence why it was used in the new world. Another word used was thaler later transferred to dollar.
That's a cheap haircut
Something not mentioned here is that the reason it could be cut into eight bits was because it was worth its weight in silver.

GABS deep voice acting was spot on, loved it. Enjoying the series thanks Gab.
Thickskin gave your character a dog whistle too, she wanted you gone just like the others. I would've gotten rid of her, but that boss fight was EPIC!!
Yesssssss!!! I've been waiting for thisssss. Thank you Gab!
I love how this game has many stories beside the main one!
The sisters has to be the best so far!
The game also reminds me of "the medium" 😔💞
The voice acting in this one 10/10 🎉
Thank u for continuing to play the game 🤜🤛
If its u ill keep watiching no matter what game it is💛💗💛
Ahhh yes, the Abhorsen series reference! One of my favs. I have a tattoo of some of the runic symbols from the series. Its a MUST read if u dig this game!
I LOVE IT. Play as much and for as long as you want! I’ll watch it ALL! Cozy times! I loved the synchronized coffee sip!
Thickskin keeps reminding me if Jim Dickens in the show Letterkenny, where everyone would call him “Dickskin”. So that’s Thickskin's name now
Although I understand wanting to save people from suffering, as Antea said, Thickskin sent then away to die to make her job as "leader" easier.
YESSSSSSSS ive been WAITING for this thank you so much for keeping this series going! this game just seems to get more and more interesting
Such a great chapter! I also immediately thought of Annihilation when The Beast came around. So chilling but so cool.
Im so excited! I've had a rough week and had to go to the ER last night because of a migraine thats been causing me to have some seizures. I love just relaxing and listening to your videos, they make me feel much better 💜
Im hoping you’re doing better since this post. Wishing you well.
@@kellynemecek5894 I appreciate it! Some things are better but I'm still dealing with a lot of new health problems. I will be okay tho!
Loving this series! I'm so glad that you decided to play this. It's such a cool game and I always enjoy watching you play and getting your insights.
Thank goodness it’s Saturday so I can just lay and watch Gab’s new series! ❤
Definitely a true gamer! When your eyes are strained but there's more to explore within the game! This was so cool! Can't wait for more! 😊
Getting caught up on these! I’m so glad you are playing through this. I’m really enjoying the story 😊
Officially one of my new favourite games to watch you play, so excited for you to play and us to binge watch.
Making art while watching a 3 hour long Gobus video... WHAT A LIFE I'M LIVING 🤩
"What trail?"
"...That trail that we blaze!"
Love El Dorado 😂❤
so far you've made the same choices as i did.
Hell yes. Part 3 baby!!! Got to live a gabs play through. I really hope this goes through to the end ❤
Really like how you can get me so inthrawed into these games. When i get a console some day ill have lots of references to games
I hope you keep playing this!! I'm loving it!
Please more of this❤
I’m gonna buy the game but I still want to see you play it😂
I'm loving this game so much! Please keep them coming!
It makes so much sense if the Nightmare is Deborah because it seems like she(the nightmare) attacks lovers the most.
This game is soooooo good!! I love watching you play it and truly hope you do it all! I would have never known about this majesty unless for you! Thank you much and I appreciate you! *fanciful bow with top hat and all* haha
This looks great, it's bringing me the same joy Witcher3 did when it came out. Thanks Gab, I'm wishlisting this!
Man the music playing at the end (when Kate sees Deborah and begs her for forgiveness).... I wish they released the soundtrack for this game
Edit: just found out the composer/one of the producers of the score is Trevor Morris (Dragon Age Inquisition, Vikings the TV series, Castlevania animated series, etc). That explains a lot and unfortunately he doesn't always releases his music😢 Here is to hoping it will happen later on🤞
This playthrough is amazing. I am loving it!
Grate ending to the Ep, can't what to see what next.
More Pacific Drive as well Please.
Gawd the beast is just like the bear from annilation. I got goosebumps when it appeared and instantly saw the scene from the movie. Oof what a game!
Amazing series so far! I can't wait for the next one!
Yes! You’ve spoiled us! Another reason not to get out of bed today 😉
Gab we definitely appreciate your consistency! Keep it up
(Gab comes upon the mine for the first time) Me: ".....she's gonna say it! I'm waiting for her to say it, I look forward to the usual Lord of the Rings quotes........." (Gab doesn't say it)
.......few minutes later....... Gab: "And they call it.......a MINEEEEEE."
Me: YUSSSS!
heh heh heh
Two things I livee for in your vid,s Gab. Metal Gear Solid quoting and refs, and Lord of the Rings quoting and refs.
You're reliability (and good taste) is a comfort in this world. :) :)
This is the perfect video for today! Thank you 🎉
Love this series so much! Keep em coming! ❤
Such a great episode. So excited to watch more ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, Houska castle is a real castle in Czech Republic. A really nice place too.
Im really enjoying this gameplay... i dont comment often but the pace is perfect and the art style is beautiful
I legit love this series I have been pondering what games I should get then realize I haven’t finished about 20 of the ones I have started😅😅
A new episode of Banishers I'm so happy thank you Evelyn (beautiful name btw)
OMG! I am sooo happy you're continuing with this game, I absolutely love watching you play it
The bear in that movie was a skinwalker. Skinwalker try to get you to knowledge it by using the voices to lower you in if you don’t acknowledge it in it will go away. It was a really cool creature in that movie, it almost seemed accurate to the design of a real Skinwalker in my mind. Lol
Awesome episode! The Beast was so cool!
ya, it is one bullet at a time for now muskets are strate lead and fire you can only shoot one bullet at a time and it takes time to reload so not a good weapon for close combat and great for distant attacks.
Woot so glad for another banishers vid
