Turbo Overkill is the most enjoyable retro shooter I've played this year

    Heya! I was the voice actor in game for SAMM, the vendors, SYN, the EXECC and uhhh ... like, some other stuff, I forget, but I'm glad you are enjoying the game! it truly was a pleasure to work on!

    My favourite thing about this game is definitely the 80s Retrowave aesthetic. It’s eye candy

    There is a game called ASKE that has a demo out on steam and I think you should really try it out it’s very quake inspired and it has really cool way of making its levels feel natural and like a real place

    Beyond Sunset and this game both have some specific environments that actually properly explore the variety of aesthetics that cyberpunk can offer. The arena with the pink neon signs all over, the aquarium and the glass panels are both great mentions, as well as the more body horror parts. The body horror parts should be able to get even more insane. Maybe they should look into Japanese cyberpunk, like Akira and Tetsuo The Iron Man, for some of that sweet industrial body horror, and some of BLAME!'s cosmic horror-levels of scale. Utilitarian tech made to work, not to look good, and looking incredibly cool in the process.
    Beyond Sunset does get more creative than that though, some of the arenas just look awesome in-setting. The Ascent and RUINER are still the most beautiful cyberpunk games we've gotten as of late, however.
    Outside of that, I can't say I've been loving much of the game. I didn't really like what I played. Gotta go back and try it again to see if I'll enjoy it next time.

    I wholeheartedly disagree, this is one of the few upcoming retro shoters that didn't clicked with me, despite how much I wanted it to. My main three gripes are with the visual clarity, the shooting and the movement:
    -Visual clarity as in the enemies blend so much with the enviroment that I can barely distinguish the enemy anatomy. That is important to me when talking about kill satisfaction. Auto-aiming with the missiles or magnum alt-fire at a bland light coming towards me and then seeing blood splatter is a lot less satisfying than what DUSK, DOOM Eternal, Ultrakill, Nightmare Reaper and so on have to offer...
    -The shooting leans a lot towards these indirect kills. Auto-aim missiles or shots, AoE attacks with both shotguns alt-fires. The few times we actually aim and hit an enemy, there seems to be not that much impact, it's missing something for me.
    -The movement is somehow polished while also feeling floaty. Too fast, I overshoot a lot. Other players said they got used to it after a couple hours. Sure, but again, DUSK, DOOM Eternal, Ultrakill, Nightmare Reaper... the movement on these games felt natural right from the start, no need to readjust my senses. They vastly differ from one another in terms of weight and max mobility, yet all of them made sense from minute 1 to each's ingame physics.

      I couldn't get into this game either. My gripes are the same, but my feelings aren't as strong when it comes to what I like and don't like about the game. I wasn't missing every shot but I wasn't landing them like I can land them in DUSK or Ultrakill. The demo also came out at the wrong time because it was the day before Elden Ring released so even if it did click with me, all I could think about was playing Elden Ring. I'll probably enjoy it more if I replay the demo but I would have to force myself to do that.

    looking forward to this! I love Cyberpunk but most games seem to follow the RPG route not shooters...Also LOVING the Dredd References, they need to hurry up and start/finish the TV series.

    When i first saw your video Upcoming FPS Games 2021 featuring Turbo Overkill, i instantly knew, that i wanna play this.
    In a second, it was in my wishlist and i´ve been waiting for this ever since. And i´m so happy to say, that the game delivered and it´s only early access. Thank you for introducing me to this masterpiece.

    I FUKKIN LOVE THIS GAME! it's pure JOY! - The movement is SO fast and fluid. Feels like you are flying and NOT in a free-fly manner like with a cheat, but in a physic based aerial way. You can FEEL the wind pressure and the inertia, and gravity. It's indescribable. It's possibly the fastest game I have ever played and the movement is an orchestra yet it feels SO SO SO SO controllable. Which Is what really blew my mind. I felt at first I was going to be flopping around and not like it. But It's SO intuitive and feels so natural that I was instantly able to convert my thoughts into on screen actions with insane precision. Rocket League takes HUNDREDS and thousands of hours to be able to accurately FLY, and maneuver, and read the field. Turbo Overkill had me feeling like that in minutes. MINUTES!

      Nice, always sniffing out the nitty gritty. I caught in the last patch they tweaked the checkpoints. Hopefully some of the progression bugs I hit have been smoothed over too.

    Can't you bind micro missiles on mouse button 4 or 5?
    I don't know about you but most of the mouses have them these days. That's what I did for granates in doom eternal.

      Yeah I don't like the idea of holding M1 & 2 at the same time, M4 was my goto binding for the micro missiles, worked well.

    I love boomer shooters but I feel like they're so oversaturated right now. I mean just from looking up Fast Paced FPS games on Steam there's the obvious of Ultrakill, Turbo Overkill, Doom Eternal, then there's Armored Head, Post-Void, BPM, Get to the Orange Door, Roboquest, Serious Sam 4, Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem, Maximum Action, and that's JUST the one page I skimmed through. It's a great genre but when every single game is marketed the same way as a fast-paced action FPS hearkening back to the old days of Quake, Doom, and Unreal Tournament featuring the same roster of weapons (Pistol(s), Shotgun, Rifle or SMG, Rocket Launcher, sometimes Grenade Launcher, Minigun/Chaingun, Double-Barrel Shotgun, and sometimes a BFG equivalent), with arena combat that forces you to jump around and use the environment to your advantage and avoid enemy projectiles I have no interest in any of them. They all just blend together in terms of gameplay, at least in my eyes.
    Edit: I must say I've played the demo and this one does seem like a gem, I'll probably get it when it goes on sale. I still think the genre is oversaturated.
