It always amazes me how the Watchtower prints pictures of happy smiling faces as Jehovah sends fire balls onto the disbelievers. How do they expect that to be received by critical thinkers. Depressing way to start a Monday but another great episode.
That's why watchtower goes to great lengths to purge, "critical thinkers" from their ranks. Independent thinkers are anathema to them. That's why they frown apon higher education. Uneducated people are easier to control and manipulate.
I asked my PIMI JW mother if she's OK with stepping over my dead body after Armageddon & possibly having to scrape me up off the sidewalk.... her response was priceless: "Noooo... Here in Africa I find it healthier to not have a smart tv at all. I just use my Andriod and TH-cam. My wife has a TV at her roadside resturaunt and Canal service, for her customer's to watch news and Soccer which is a form of worship here. But I have my sports attire of the Cameroon Lions! And my daughter or should I say my adoptive daughter, me being the adopted Papa would be more accurate, so of course she has to have her sports attires as she is into everything Cameroon! As is all children here. So I am that wall that shows her how to avoid Cognitive Dissonance and to actually think and to do her own investigation, to my wife's dismay I am that logical apostate who has been involved in this doomsday Cult since early 1970. 😮 Imagine how many years 😳 that virus infected my 🧠 brain. And how many lies, hypocrisy I have had to suffer through! Yet I have yet to see Jehovah ever punish even a predator within their own ranks or strike them with lightning, or even with fireballs disposing of the pedifiles inside the Kingdom Halls! Yup! I would absolutely have panic attacks with thunderstorms and just inclement weather when I was little. One time, as a child, a neighbor set off fireworks for the 4th of July while I was taking a nap and I woke up screaming my head off and crying. You’re right, it isn’t funny, it’s child abuse.

Neighbors of mine here all have " big bags" complete w their meds, money, No Blood Cards AND NOW their medical & personal Durable Power of Attorney signed, sealed and make sure you turn it back into your Elders at the hall!! They have not a clue what power that card gives! I do not remember my first thunderstorm. What I DO remember is the time I saw a northern lights corona. I'm from Finland, and I saw northern lights most winters. This one year, around 2000, when I was around 15 years old, we saw out of the window that there were some AWESOME northern lights out there. Me and my mom went out to the yard to marvel. They were stronger than usual, brighter. Then I turned around and I saw a red corona of the lights in the sky, above my house. My FIRST THOUGHT WAS: "That's the sign in the sky, the one everyone can see. It's STARTING!" The cold lead of fear in the pit of my stomach was just starting to settle in, in that split second moment, when my mom turned around and saw it too, and was just awestruck by the beauty. And I realized it's just northern lights. I'd never seen a corona before, and I'd never seen RED northern lights before. 🤷♀ The fear of Armageddon the JW's implant into you is REAL.

Double edged sword- saying good news on one hand. And up till this year at least, it was suppose to be a message that suppose to hit mankind like hailstone. Of course, I am having an interest in the news and global events. I do have an ongoing concern about humankind’s bent for conflict and destructiveness.

Great podcast Stacy , yes still traumatized from the message since I was a baby.. When i was like 5 or so my parents at the meeting let me look at a Book called "Paradise Lost Paradise gained" The illustrations were so graphic and disgusting.. One was a big chasm opening up swallowing kids their bike and other person and even a dog you can actually see it if you Google it and then look at the pictures.. then the other one of the woman being thrown out the window I didn't know who that was but still really creepy. I can remember these pictures over 50 years ago just weird..
You're not alone! I grew up on that book, first one I remember with the illustrations, I talk about that book a lot on the show...the little girl reaching for her doll and her and her dog are going down a crevice in the earth. It's disgusting on every level
I was brought up as an infant being a Jehovah’s Witness. I remember seeing the movie “Earthquake” back in 1977 and was terrified seeing the movie. Not to mention it was in sense around. I was scared sh&tless about armageddon. Because I knew I wasn’t doing what the Kingdom Hall or elders required from me. Wow!!! Poor me. 😢 But wait, on the other hand I would threaten my ex girlfriends at the age of 11 because they didn’t like me, saying wait till Armageddon comes and gets you for not being with me. What kind of a mental messed up kid thinking this way.. I was terrified about a apocalyptic dooms day. JW’s did a good job on me trying to keep me into their doctrine. I am older and wiser now. I do believe in the creator and do go to church. But I believe Jehovah is a God of justice, with mercy and love to those who love him as well.. sinners are welcome because we all fall short. But Jehovah God doesn’t hold that against us… he is a Merciful God!!

Double edged sword- saying good news on one hand. And up till this year at least, it was suppose to be a message that suppose to hit mankind like hailstone. Of course, I am having an interest in the news and global events. I do have an ongoing concern about humankind’s bent for conflict and destructiveness.
No question....man is destructive....throughout all of history. Their message fell right in line!
Great episode. My personal favorite was American Bandstand. Soul Train was my second favorite. I watched a Godzilla film this past weekend and it was fun!

Great podcast Stacy , yes still traumatized from the message since I was a baby.. When i was like 5 or so my parents at the meeting let me look at a Book called "Paradise Lost Paradise gained" The illustrations were so graphic and disgusting.. One was a big chasm opening up swallowing kids their bike and other person and even a dog you can actually see it if you Google it and then look at the pictures.. then the other one of the woman being thrown out the window I didn't know who that was but still really creepy. I can remember these pictures over 50 years ago just weird..
You're not alone! I grew up on that book, first one I remember with the illustrations, I talk about that book a lot on the show...the little girl reaching for her doll and her and her dog are going down a crevice in the earth. It's disgusting on every level

I was brought up as an infant being a Jehovah’s Witness. I remember seeing the movie “Earthquake” back in 1977 and was terrified seeing the movie.
Not to mention it was in sense around. I was scared sh&tless about armageddon.
Because I knew I wasn’t doing what the Kingdom Hall or elders required from me.

But wait, on the other hand I would threaten my ex girlfriends at the age of 11 because they didn’t like me, saying wait till Armageddon comes and gets you for not being with me. What kind of a mental messed up kid thinking this way.. I was terrified about a apocalyptic dooms day. JW’s did a good job on me trying to keep me into their doctrine.
I am older and wiser now. I do believe in the creator and do go to church. But I believe Jehovah is a God of justice, with mercy and love to those who love him as well.. sinners are welcome because we all fall short. But Jehovah God doesn’t hold that against us… he is a Merciful God!!

Doomsday shows like The Walking Dead is not about the world ending. It's about what do the people left on the planet do, how do they act. I don't believe the world is ending, I just find it interesting to see just how far some people will go to stay alive

Well, preaching the "end" in 1975 (like you and me we did) was really hilarious. But looking today, I do not need JW to tell me that we are in deep shit. Just read the Bible. Doomsday clock is still 90 seconds to midnight in 2024 and what will this year bring? Another thing - it's unbelievable to think that Jesus died only for JW's. A pitty that JW destroyed confidence in religion for some forever. Not for me. Looking back - I laughed today, seeing me going from door to door. But the current situation - I am happy that I lived my life. Honestly. All is in the Bible and I do not need JW to know.
