Dark is the busiest? Gnb has nearly a just as busy opener then has double weave required burst windows every 30 seconds. Meanwhile dark knight hits 1 2 3 for a whole minute. And most it's burst windows past the opener are less busy as the job has awkward ogcd cooldowns. Gnb far busier.
Finally, a video which tells you the prod and cons of every job without telling you what to play. This is why your 1-90 guids are my gospel, granted i dont just follow your openers to the letter, but fantastic baseline for which to base ny ideal way to play
On liners of the jobs I play (in early ShB, done all normal instanced content) DRG (L81): Just feels so good when you hit everything right, especially the dives and elusive jumps you save for max uptime. DRK (L80): Having no reliable self-heals teaches me to be Good Boy Tank (like with jumps). And egde-lord supreme. AST (L78): You never have the best tool for a particular situation, but you have a good tool in every situation. Also Essential Dignity >> Benediction, change my mind. BRD (L76): My chill job that's busy enough to stay engaged. RDM (L76): Yeah, uh, pretty much what you said lol. NIN (L60): Only downside is that the rust kicks in rally fast if I don't play it for a while, otherwise lots of fun. BLM (L62): I'm glad I played several other jobs in all roles before picking up BLM because putting all that experience together feels super satisfying and breathes new life into instances I've already done many times over. I also don't understand why other BLMs I see in DF aren't abusing Aetherial Manipulation like I am; no excuse to fall behind!
I'm just starting out, currently in Stormblood post game, and I really want to like BLM. But man, it feels really freaking bad. It feels so awful when I do my rotations perfectly, and then my vet friend says the dancer is out damaging me by a ton. It feels like I do no damage lol... In comparison, when I play RDM I could screw up my mana, or mistime my ogcd and yet somehow I'm doing way more damage than the black mage in my raid party. I don't get it.
Your rotation isn't as perfect as you think if a DNC is outdpsing you. Especially in 8-man content. Or you are dropping far too many casts by not pre-positioning for mechs or not using your aetherial manipulation. Lastly, make sure you aren't severely undergeared.
@@SoulReaperIsHere Brother, have you seen the DPS from BLM pre level 80? It's barely worth the trouble lol. And I know, it's presumptuous for me to say I'm doing my rotations perfectly as a sprout, but I ASSURE YOU I genuinely did it perfectly. After that conversation with my friend, I installed ACT just to find out what's what. I have SAM, NIN, RDM, BRD, MNK, SMN, MNK and RPR as level 70 DPS jobs and I swear on my mama I'm usually the top DPS in 4mans, and always in top 3 in 8 mans when I play any of the classes other than BLM and Bard. I studied my stuff, Wesk Alber and the Balance.
@@acupoflatte8594 I have as I do run duties as BLM pre level 90. Including synced down for old EXs. The only expansion where it feels weak is ARR due to relying on F3 procs. Otherwise I am frequently top DPS in most content if I don't die or make mistakes. This is why I think you must be missing something if you're struggling to hit high DPS on BLM. You said you studied your stuff but I'll repeat the basic here. Most damage in a 8-man is from Fire IV and you should be doing 6 every fire phase except for your Fire Opener where you will cast fewer. In dungeons the name of the game is triplecasting flares after getting the dmg up buff from Fire II. A minimum of 2 and you can push it to 4 with manafont and an ether. Naturally keep the DoT up. If you really are doing that and XIV analysis, a website where you can plug in your uploaded parse for it to scrutinise, isn't screaming at you for not casting enough then the only factor left is gear. Which if you're levelling shouldn't be a huge issue as you have easy access to tome sets. Checking my parses just now, even at level 90, something like 40% of a BLM's damage (in 8-man content) is from Fire IV. So if there are any cracks in your Fire IV uptime game then you will suffer hugely.
I'm still looking for a job that clicks with me as much as Bard does. I love keeping track of stuff, be it my dots, my song gauges, my buffs, my procs, my weaving and using my support skills. Timing the use of all my skills so my "burst" window fits the party buffs perfectly. The closest jobs I found in different roles were Gunbreaker/Dark Knight as tank, Monk/Dragoon as Melee, Red Mage as caster and Astrologian as healer. But none of them are as consistently fun as Bard imo.
Quite possibly the worst video I have ever seen on this website. S tier. (I was listening to this while driving home and burst out laughing multiple times. Awesome analysis for someone like me interested in trying some new jobs.)
I main WHM and SMN.. and boy oh boy do I get tired of the endless 'YoU PlAy SMN yOu BaD bRaInDeAd PlAyEr!" Especially since it's.. non raiders that say it most of the time lol. Like, okay? Does it make you feel better/more powerful to call some players braindead because they don't play what you do? Should the whole player base reroll Monk or Black Mage? Would that make the game more fun for you?
I love it because 1- it very strongly fits the theme of the WoL being the person they always send to fight primals, since it's a magical discipline specifically designed for fighting primals and 2- I find the the big summon attacks you get at 90 incredibly satisfying. I don't play it because it's 'easy'. I play it because it's freaking awesome.
@@meriwidget3474 Honestly, the 'braindead' bit is kind of a virtue to me at times. I normally like dragoon the most for my DPS of choice, but I love summoner's theme too, and sometimes I don't really want to focus on my rotation much if I'm just doing something mindless like running the Eureka bunny FATE. When doing stuff like that or grinding FATEs for a relic or whatever I almost always change to summoner, it's just relaxing and easy, but not in a bad way. The way people describe its old super hard rotation used to scare me away from the job, but now it's inclusive and I can enjoy summoning Bahamut without worries!
God. I had an FC member who had a massive hate boner for White Mage and anyone who played it. He himself was a Scholar, and he praised me for playing Astrologian at the time. When I mentioned a friend who's a pretty good healer playing white mage he called them brain-dead. O.o wasn't even anything meta related, just the mechanical complexity of Astrologian or Scholar made you a better person in his eyes.
This video is awful, provides no quality information and should be deleted from the internet. Enjoy my like, comment and if I could subscribe again, I would. Thank you for the service that you provide to the FFXIV community in helping new players (like me!) discover all of the terrible jobs in this horrible game. Please never stop making videos.
I picked up all the jobs except anything after 50. level all of them to 50 learn their level 50 kit thats where you have the basis of their rotation. Pick the one that feels right to play. Became a dark knight main and astro sub
Dragoon is also the only melee class that has directional AOE, despite Samurai having it overhauled for an 'around the character' aoe. This makes him really annoying in clearing dungeons as you constantly have to target a new enemy when a previous one dies and not an avarage enemy but one thats in the middle of the pack which makes it near impossible to target with a mouse. Fuck me.
@@WeskAlber yes it also means that you have to target each enemy individually and sometimes when I TAB to swap targets it just randomly chooses the worst target possible and most damage is just wasted
Every single job i have leveled I think, this is my favorite job. And then I play the next one and think THIS is my favorite job. This video is perfect and some of those people you talk about i have unsubbed from because I feel like they are being negative for hate-clicks.
BLM has aetherial teleport and the ley lines teleport (that should get changed to lv 60 already comon) misrepresented my class, absolutely awful guide, liked and subscribed
Anyone else just read the title, and thought wow that's a very broad topic, how are they going to do that. Then noticed it was prefaced with FF14 and was like ooooh, that type of job.
Ninja's quite unique as the Mudras and TenChiJin (the skill, not the mudras) make you practice trigger discipline : - press Mudras too fast and or multiple times and you might get a bunny or the wrong Ninjutsu ; - Press TenChiJin while jumping, moving or being pushed around and you'll just get it cancelled completely ; The only big issue all of this causes is with a rubberbanding connection : if you're losing network packets, sometimes the server won't register a keypress and mess the Mudra combo, I don't recommend the experience to anyone
@@WeskAlber ooo, I might go give those a watch! Thank you very much. I struggle with normal delubrum myself, so I might not be getting that particular set anytime soon haha.
@@emeraldaurora1958the gear itself should be available for a few bozjan golden coins, but it'll be undyeable, dyeing unlocks after augmenting it with drops from DRS. As for the difficulty of DRS, I'd say it's in line with a series of EX trials, you'll need a bit to figure out how each fight works, but after that you should be just fine. (And the knowledge will also help you run DR normals with more confidence) most DC's have one or more discord servers that are dedicated to helping people clear, using a few different methods, I could share a link if you want (if you tell me what DC you're on that is)
Speaking of excluding jobs, remember when some people banned Summoner from PF at the start of Endwalker because they were annoyed by how large the summons were?
I was going to wonder if you were gonna rip apart the jobs and put them in F tier, but you showed me. XD Seriously, this is why I am not in FFXIV right now, because people are so toxic about the job balancing. People need to get over it.
My issue right now is not so much class, it’s finding a race I want to play as, I’ve made at least 15 characters over the past month, and I just can’t decide .
@@verdurite not the one you asked, but I can provide a different view. I love Monk's kit mostly but I absolutely hate Perfect Balance + Beast Chakra. I'd main this job if it didn't have the Beast Chakra system. The standard gcd rotation flows so nicely but alternating Bootshine and Dragon Kick throws that flow out the window and feels wrong. That's just my opinion though.
I want to give my descriptions on my favourite jobs here, dragoon and black mage and samurai having big commitment moves was really satisfying and felt like the jobs had weight, I dont get why the jp playerbase hates samurai cast times so much (outside of the summoner jokes) and also kaiten did this too RIP. Sage really does feel like a cleaner version of scholar, as someone who heals for my static on it, I generally enjoy it outside of general issues with healers as a whole. The utility of being able to move with any eukrasia skill alone makes the job way more comfy for me than scholar in high end fights and always feels like I control the situation. Red mage is the only job with procs that feel like you make decisions around them, if you like maximising rng if stuff like mario party or a card game, the job feels very satisfying to master alongside using your mleee combo and free casts for movement. Gunbreaker can have issues with ogcds needed in strict locations where you may want defensives, but is otherwise my favourite tank for having the most involved rotation that feels like I need to be aware of what I am doing while still being aware of the fight due to tank utility (except aoe its painfully boring there tbh) Sorry for the long content and for general job balance, unless you are doing content min ilv it generally doesnt matter and isnt enough to make jobs unusable, but is worse than it has been in the past and the higher dps jobs do give your team a bit of a safety net (although if you're pushing someone onto a job they dont know as well you may lose damage that way, I learned that the hard way before in a story that's too long even for this essay level comment)
I know this is a joke video but I find it really funny that people say Monk is too complex for beginners. FFXIV is my first MMO ever, my first serious PC keyboard and mouse game, and I love it. The forms forcing you to do your attacks in order actually make the idea of a "rotation" make way more sense so I want to pitch it to more total noobs! I've tried a lot of other jobs because Monk is seriously overlevelled (level 71 at the end of Heavensward...) and none of them are as fun or satisfying.
dont like selling mnk as hard, .. its a great class too few try out (because its sold as hard, but less dps than the also "hard: Blm, new players often don't bother with Mnk.) .. just at 1st its rota seens odd, but is actually very fluid .. not that hard (imo Nin abd Drg with it's timers are harder),.. once you've done Mnk a few times, it makes sense and fluid
I think monk is a case of easy to learn, hard to master. For me it is the hardest job to master if you want to max it out (ideal buff windows, no unused cooldowns, uptime, no overcapping chakra).
I'm just here to see if I'm making a mistake and overwhelming myself with samurai even though I doubt I'd change my mind lol. Do need a tank and I'm thinking the whitest dark knight. I'd play paladin if I could hide the shield.
I've recently started playing, meta is something I've stayed away from as I'm playing the things I enjoy... and when I saw the mac and cheese with robots.... I had to play that.
I was excited for this video until he said “black mage sucks”. Once I heard that the relevancy of this video went down to none. I don’t even play black mage and I know it absolutely destroys. A “selfish class”? Nah it’s literally a job designed for straight raw damage. It’s not like summoner or red mage because their damage is NOT designed for straight pure damage. That’s the entire point of black mage and that’s why it’s one of the top DPS in the game. Hopefully the rest of this video isn’t as incorrect as the very first statement. EDIT: just learned this entire video is a joke. Slightly embarrassed but also not.
I must say I disagree with DRG's placement. I think it should be moved to S tier because I just backflipped off titan's stage again

On liners of the jobs I play (in early ShB, done all normal instanced content)
DRG (L81): Just feels so good when you hit everything right, especially the dives and elusive jumps you save for max uptime.
Black mage is really satisfying and fulfilling but is extremely challenging. Once you find a balance between damage and movement it’s excellent
But none of them are as consistently fun as Bard imo.
cool pfp
I like the job icons, they are very cute
thank you!! they're available as emotes in the discord... :3
Quite possibly the worst video I have ever seen on this website. S tier.
(I was listening to this while driving home and burst out laughing multiple times. Awesome analysis for someone like me interested in trying some new jobs.)
Haven't even finished watching yet and I'm way too excited for this video 😂
Happy to play a job that’s absolute trash with no learning curve. Perfect for me! This was a fun one to watch, thank you! 😁
I DESPISE how much stuff gets called "braindead." Its so fucking elitist
Yes! Thank you! I love SMN because of it's flow, it's (super crazy thing here, I know) actually FUN 😁.
Oooh! New idea for a job: turret placement! Yeah there's Machinist, but they only have the one turret and it's single enemy.
I'm so confused.
'donkey based youtubers' if you're talking about who i think you're talking about then you hit that lowkey criticism spot on
I'll trust any advice you give with that gigachad voice!
Love the meme of throwing everything in the same tier, while being legit explanatory for each class. Well done.
I picked up all the jobs except anything after 50. level all of them to 50 learn their level 50 kit thats where you have the basis of their rotation. Pick the one that feels right to play. Became a dark knight main and astro sub
This video actually convinced me to give Blue Mage a try. I had no idea there was so much content that was Blue Mage exclusive.
Well that's me more confused than before I clicked the video but I did enjoy it and had a chuckle.
Fuck me.
Middle of the pack is often the wrong choice. You want the edge of the pack so you have a steeper angle. DRG AoE is just superior to all other melee
@@WeskAlber yes it also means that you have to target each enemy individually and sometimes when I TAB to swap targets it just randomly chooses the worst target possible and most damage is just wasted
Love your videos - thank you
I made the wonderful mistake of starting this game with Black Mage and I regret all yet none of it.
OK hear me out, as a MCH main the names had me absolutely rolling, you've earned a like and a sub !
Every single job i have leveled I think, this is my favorite job. And then I play the next one and think THIS is my favorite job. This video is perfect and some of those people you talk about i have unsubbed from because I feel like they are being negative for hate-clicks.
BLM has aetherial teleport
and the ley lines teleport (that should get changed to lv 60 already comon)
misrepresented my class, absolutely awful guide, liked and subscribed
Anyone else just read the title, and thought wow that's a very broad topic, how are they going to do that. Then noticed it was prefaced with FF14 and was like ooooh, that type of job.
yeah i know, i'm still stuck at april 1st...
Jokes aside, i really like this video. no discriminations, no talk shit, just what the job can do best.
Ninja's quite unique as the Mudras and TenChiJin (the skill, not the mudras) make you practice trigger discipline :
- press Mudras too fast and or multiple times and you might get a bunny or the wrong Ninjutsu ;
- Press TenChiJin while jumping, moving or being pushed around and you'll just get it cancelled completely ;
The only big issue all of this causes is with a rubberbanding connection : if you're losing network packets, sometimes the server won't register a keypress and mess the Mudra combo, I don't recommend the experience to anyone
TLDR; play Warrior. Rename duty groupings to “Warrior Lite, Full Warrior, and 24-WARs”
not him calling machinist Maybelline im donee. ☠☠
I like how this had to be made. Good stuff as usual.
Brilliant video! I'm glad I found you. S TIER! LOL
What is that red armour set you're wearing in the Paladin section? It looks amazing!
Also, amazing rankings, couldn't agree more as a BLM main.
Law's Order from completion of Delebrum Reginae (Savage)
I have videos on my clear of that!
(And the knowledge will also help you run DR normals with more confidence)
most DC's have one or more discord servers that are dedicated to helping people clear, using a few different methods, I could share a link if you want (if you tell me what DC you're on that is)
@@Sven080100 I am on Ultros, Primal!
Speaking of excluding jobs, remember when some people banned Summoner from PF at the start of Endwalker because they were annoyed by how large the summons were?
Wait... But... You can literally change their sizes with /petsize
@@FinnFann Yeeeeeeeeep.
Never underestimate the propensity for some to put the blame on others before themselves.
I still come back to this.
Healing Bush was my nickname in highschool.
Thank you!
I really liked the part where you took the piss ... out of the entire community. 🤘🤣
awesome!! TY!!
I was going to wonder if you were gonna rip apart the jobs and put them in F tier, but you showed me. XD
Seriously, this is why I am not in FFXIV right now, because people are so toxic about the job balancing. People need to get over it.
My issue right now is not so much class, it’s finding a race I want to play as, I’ve made at least 15 characters over the past month, and I just can’t decide .
Machinima doesn’t need party buffs. It has Peliton and I greatly appreciate this.
In all seriousness I only hated playing 2 classes, Monk and Scholar, every other class, even if I didn't main them I still enjoyed playing them.
Monk is so good post endwalker though, what did you not like about it?
@@verdurite Mainly the constant need to refresh buffs, it just tipped over the edge from busy into too frantic.
Feels good to main SSS blu.
So happy to see Blue mage get the respect it deserve after bing my favorite class across all games. Truly the only S+.
The way you did machinist I'm dying 😂😂😂
What's the opposite of a compliment sandwich
WHAT ARE YOU?!
An idiot sandwich....
an insult soup
An insult burrito; you think you’re biting into an insult but the stuffing surprises you.
@@Bobberation I landed on soup as being the opposite of a sandwich, as well.
This video gives me “Is she into you?” Vibes 😂😂
What a clickbait video. Not enough drama. I'll rank this video, s-tier.
Love your opinion about jobs in FF14
Isn't Gunbreaker the busiest tank?
The only actual teir list that make sense. It sucks. Thank you
Blue Mage is f@&$ng OP. I understand why the moment i get to level 70. You dont need a LB3 Tank to Surviver. You are the living LB3.
Absolutely love how you’re taking the piss out of those who are slaves to the Meta and those quick to put down really good jobs which are all.
And still I manage to f* up my dragoon rotation... which makes it a bad job XD
Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses
You wait 'til Beastmaster arrives *inhales copium* we'll have SSS rank. You'll see.
The true class you had to choose was the uninstall button, thank you for helping with the choice!
dont like selling mnk as hard, .. its a great class too few try out (because its sold as hard, but less dps than the also "hard: Blm, new players often don't bother with Mnk.)
.. just at 1st its rota seens odd, but is actually very fluid .. not that hard (imo Nin abd Drg with it's timers are harder),.. once you've done Mnk a few times, it makes sense and fluid
I think monk is a case of easy to learn, hard to master. For me it is the hardest job to master if you want to max it out (ideal buff windows, no unused cooldowns, uptime, no overcapping chakra).
Sam was yeah. I had to be supported that I wasnt bad
Haven't started the video yet this is just a thumbnail appreciation comment
Damn this video sucks for a new player to watch, so much information. S tier work
I'm just here to see if I'm making a mistake and overwhelming myself with samurai even though I doubt I'd change my mind lol. Do need a tank and I'm thinking the whitest dark knight. I'd play paladin if I could hide the shield.
You can hide it using "The emperor's new shield" as a glamour
imo Mnk Stormblood (& ARR) was "hard", now it feels on par with Sam.., not harder (probably a bit "easier".., cause of better flow somehow)
MNK is harder than its ever been. I don't know any MNK mains (and unlike SAM I only know high end MNK mains) who don't think its hard
Selfish DPS? Sounds like that’s the way to go.
As someone picking up Black Mage the start of this video discouraged and then confused me
I've recently started playing, meta is something I've stayed away from as I'm playing the things I enjoy... and when I saw the mac and cheese with robots....
I'm still not knowing what I'll main. 😢
