I love the Thunderbird's livery on the F-16! It's nice that it has the "flying tail", now commonly called a "stabilator", that is, the entire horizontal stablizer surface pivots rather than just part of the trailing edge. I remember reading in Chuck Yearger's Autobiography that the flying tail was a major State Secret for many years, since it was so important to allowing supersonic jet fighters to be controllable as they transitioned from sub to supersonic flight.
See, THESE are the comments I have grown to love and almost expect from you Farrell!! Love learning from you, and it’s usually super relevant to our videos! I’ve always wondered if I should Wikipedia things before flying, and passing on fun facts like this during flight… but I’m pretty sure my brain would just go blank and would be focussed on the fun as soon as those wheels left the ground, lol!! I’m always happy to hear from you my friend. You rock! 👍😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors Thanks. I have been an aviation "nerd" for many many years, and have all sorts of weird and interesting information stuck in my head. It is a joy to share it with like minded people. As for trying to share Wikipedia facts while flying...they say in aviation the hierarchy is: Aviate, Navigate, Communiate. Admittedly, that is for when you have an emergency in the air...but I consider flying an RC plane to be the equivalent of a full sized plane in an emergency flight since you don't any of the cockpit instruments to tell you how the plane is flying. Even just an indicated airspeed would be nice. Eventualy, it will happen, I can see using Augmented Reality glasses to paint info like that on a heads up display so you can see it while flying. Airspeed is one of the most basic instruments needed to fly safely! I did it again, didn't i? 🙂Anyways, this Saturday I am off to the Ottawa-Gatineau AIr Show, and hope to get some video of it. Should be a lot of fun!
Yeah I love this livery. I have the Gray version but It's really nice to see the painted white rather than bare foam. This should be the standard. And now an 8 chl. Rx so you have flapperons...sweet!
I've been out of the hobby for almost 30 years. So much has changed and the tech advancement is mind boggling. Jeez, we used 11 meter CB frequencies and 4 stroke engines had barely been used at that time. If I bite on this, I'll have to find someone to "train me up" .
Great review Nate and Abby, the new E-Flite Thunderbird's F-16 (80 mm) is awesome in detail and performance, E-Flite and Horizon Hobby really knocked it out of the park :-)
Tip on flaperons - on the real F-16 the flaps are linked to the landing gear. Gear down/flaps down gear up/flaps up. Would be easy to set up a gear/flap mix so that your jet 1. Acts more like the real deal and 2. Has one less switch to fuss with on approach. Great video! I’m gonna get one of these soon for sure :)
I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but with enough Real Flight Simulator time in, this COULD be your first jet. I got into the hobby about 6 weeks ago and today I mastered this jet! Had some rough landings because I couldn't line up with the runway, I hit more hours on the sim and voilá, I can fly and land this thing any way I want
NICE MAIDEN!! I like ALL of your EDF jets...so real sounding!! How MANY more videos are you uploading today?!😂 Thanks Saylors for the FUN, honest MAIDEN review!! 💟👍😘
I used to fly very little. My first plane suffered a servo malfunction and nose dived into the ground. I couldn't afford to get another one at the time so I got out of the sport. But I always wanted to get better and fly jets like these. And the F16 has always been one of my all-time favorite fighter jets. Looks amazing!! Nice job!
I have always loved the F16 since I was a kid. Unfortunately the Australian RAAF has never had them, but I get to see the USAF F16s at the Avalon Airshow. I am always spellbound by the sheer look and performance of them.
Maybe it's just me but at the end of the flight after reverse thrust you taxied up to face the camera and it looked to me like the right elevator was higher than the left??????? Really nice flight though !!! I LOOOOOOOVE THE SOUND!!! They have come a loooong way with these electrics!! My brother bought this for my birthday and even at 54 years old I'm acting like a kid in a candy store!! The scale on this thing is amazing. One thing that kind of threw me was the fact that an 8 ch is recommended so I will have to get me a spectrum 8ch and get rid of my 7 ch. To me the F16 and the F35 fulcrum are the coolest aircraft there is. I have yet to get the fulcrum but maybe one day!! Thanks for the video!!
Look at your 7:14 mark looks like your elevators are off from each, maybe that's why you needed so much trim, just an observation, great flight and as always entertaining to watch.
Oh nice...another plane...that I REALLY WANT. I'm still trying to get back into the hobby (flying my drone doesn't count)...and I know I need to start with a couple air frames more...forgiving than this. One reason I REALLY WANT this is I just saw the Thunderbirds on Sept 3rd at the KC (Go Chiefs) airshow. Thanks as always for a great video. Still looking for confirmation you're receiving my increased Patreon support. May God bless you both.
The elevons are severely uneven, the large amount of left aileron trim that had been input was opposing the roll moment to the right caused by the elevons which might have made it feel sensitive and unstable due to the large increase in drag and cross controls. Bet it will fly extremely better with this issue fixed. Besides that, awesome video as always !!
I was halfway expecting a vapor trail. I wish e-flight would do that with all their airplanes paint them I mean. As a former ultra coat user I miss the old balsa and covering airplanes . This kind of has that old appearance and I love it. The only thing wrong with this video was it was too short.
I mean, I’m not sure they just “send” these out… We’ve worked 80-90 hours a week for YEARS to Earn early access like this IMO. I’m proud of what we’ve worked for to achieve, but it hasn’t been easy! That was a good catch by chucky that's Why it was rocking back-and-forth And feeling so touchy definitely need to even up You're tail And remember you're gonna have to retrim your ailerons
Tape or use clothes pins to add straight edges, I use quarter inch balsa sticks, to the elevators pointing to each other at rear of plane to set them evenly.

Thank you brother for inviting us as you showcase your new 800mm F16. Also, thank you for using your TH-cam channel to praise The Living God! It made my day to hear this. I saw that… that’s definitely a third party add on, because it has an extra channel to support it. IMO they should not have shown it with the afterburner lights in their ad, because it definitely doesn’t come with the lights installed. At this point, it should at these prices. Would probably cost them AT MOST $10 more to just have already installed.. these are the things that keep me up at night.
@@TheRcSaylors yes I agree. Was a little misleading , and that’s why I went str8 to your channel after that to find out. Thank y’all. Still gonna buy it. I have the grey one to and the 70 mm. Happy flying y’all
That is my next purchase. I have the 80mm f-16 (Still haven't maidened that one. Its too beautiful!!!) I have the 90mm Viper with reverse thrust. I'm curious if you have that set to a switch? I have mine set to switch G, position 0, normal flight, position 1, controlled reverse throttle (taxiing), and position 2, full throttle reverse (landed safely first before engaging). That way, you don't have to think about throttling up manually. You get full power throttle reverse with no stick inputs. Now, the flaperons I've NEVER used on my models. I hear bad stories about those so I may not engage them. Let me know how you have your reverse setup!!!!!!
I' m amaze that you ve havent notice the elevator asymmetry before take off. for sure the plane is needed to be trimmed ; never jump into the kero jet for your own safety.
Nice! Hey Nate, my AMA is up for renewal. Last time, I renewed one day before you announced a “discount” through your channel. Any discount this year???
I just purchased one and am setting up control surface deflections; did you use the recommended throws from the manual, with the minimal 10% expo on high rates?
DXe is not programmable (without a dongle to connect to a computer) but it’s 6 channels and around $80 (the last time I checked, it may be slightly more now due to inflation)
In all honesty, if $300 is to much for you to spend, you are in the wrong hobby my friend!... Lamentably, this is a very expensive hobby...Specially at the beginning... The more you crash, the more money you'll spend... And again, crashing is the Dark side of this hobby and could happen at any time to either beginner or expert pilots without any advice🥴... If you are willing to take the risk of getting into this fascinating Hobby, then look for a nice Ready to Fly trainer plane and enjoy it...WARNING! This is a very addicting hobby! 😁👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Are you able to share a link or or how to video on how you setup reverse thrust. This is a feature I would like to understand better as it would help tremendous with shorter runways.
It's just a matter of approaching in alpha position on landing to slow it down enough to stop it in a short distance, which I can't always achieve. But reverse thrust works very well on this jet. I reordered the gray F16 again due to my almost 20 accidents in my old F16 in almost 200 flights or more. I'm not a big fan of the color white. Thanks for your hard work. J 3:16

I just purchased one and am setting up control surface deflections; did you use the recommended throws from the manual, with the minimal 10% expo on high rates?
Are there any good cheap transmitters because $300 is alot over budget for a transmitter for me?
flysky i6s about 60 bucks. I have used it for years and never had any problems.
DXe is not programmable (without a dongle to connect to a computer) but it’s 6 channels and around $80 (the last time I checked, it may be slightly more now due to inflation)
Save the money up and at a minimum buy an 8 channel. Over time you'll spend more trying to upgrade so it actually saves money.
Impressive 👌
Thanks for watching!! 👍😁😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors my pleasure 😊
So what exactly are the performance differences? Looks like a great jet just like the gray one!
The Main difference is the BNF 8 channel receiver, now with Flaperons and one extra channel for extra lights, etc 👍😁😎⚓️
Very nice. Does it come with the number already applied, or can the buyer choose which number to apply on the side of the intake?
It comes with a sheet of numbers, 1-9 I believe it was, and two of each digit. They are high quality decals too 👍😁😎⚓️
Nice!
Nice!!!
Whats the difference between the one that cost 399 and 599?
The gray one ($600) is no longer available. They look the same; same spare parts I think
Landinggear is not that robust broke 2 pins in a normal landing. But it's a good thing there are pins in there, less expensive to replace.
Are you able to share a link or or how to video on how you setup reverse thrust. This is a feature I would like to understand better as it would help tremendous with shorter runways.
Same here. I want to set it up on my Habu SS 50mm & 70mm versions
