    most Intel GPUs work pretty well with the default modesetting(4) driver, maybe even better supported in some situations... I stick with modesetting.

      That's good to know! I've never used the modesetting(4) driver before, I'll definitely try it out.

    With all you openBSD guys, you definitely roped me into, (and other Unix based operating systems in general). Thanks for all the resources and videos and everything!

    It was very informative. I am a nosystemD linux user but i have made an openbsd install in a spare hdd. I just found you and immediately subscribed. I want you to make a video: 10 things to do when install openbsd immediately. I had to find out how to make my firefox setup on how to upload an image or what. But there were few sources though. And then 10 usefull programms that exist on openbsd. And maybe a guide for apps that are not on openbsd repos but can be installed on openbsd. Thanks.

    I am watching this on a used T500 running Linux that I picked up a few months ago. I have user FreeBSD on servers but have always wanted to try out OpenBSD. May just need go grab a spare SSD and give it a go.

    Hi, I’ve looked on the sdorfehs repo but there’s no information on multi monitor support, have you tried this on a multi monitor setup?

    • @rootbsd1368
      @rootbsd1368  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Multi-monitor is an X thing, not a WM thing. Use xrandr for all your multi-monitor needs. Actually that's a good future video idea! Thanks!

    • @codinguy
      @codinguy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rootbsd1368 Ahh that’s maybe my misunderstanding, as I always thought the WM had to link with the xinerama library or whatever the equivalent is under other such systems, many thanks for the reply.

    I really want to use OpenBSD on my thinkpad x230 :) I need to run Sway on wlroots. I really like wayland, I've made my heavily customized config as I like it.

      Unfortunately, wayland is not available on OpenBSD. Your only option is Xenocara (i.e. OpenBSD's X11 port). However, you can use i3wm. Sway configuration is mostly compatible with i3.

    Hi! Can you help me figure out why when my OpenBSD goes into "idle" mode that, when I try to come back and wake it up, It is frozen and will not accept any inputs?

    I wanted to use OpenBSD on my tower but I have an Nvidia GPU. So had to settle for Fedora until Slackwire 15 comes out of beta.

    I can't see the year of the OpenBSD desktop ever coming if it can't and will never support legacy 32-bit apps and games.

    • @rootbsd1368
      @rootbsd1368  ปีที่แล้ว

      For one, the title was more tongue in cheek than anything. Two, 32 compat layers often go unmaintained, bitrot, and can become security vulnerabilities and attack surface. OpenBSD is a research OS that puts security first so that wouldn't make sense from an engineering perspective.
