      Still as enthused? Do you still even have the car or did you sell the headache?

    Ive never seen a rear hatch that opens by itself by simply pushing the button. Car must be a gem

      It is. Everything is all original on this car which is great.

      Thank you. They were pretty straight forward and worth it for me not to use a piece of wood.

    I need to do that to my 944 I have a wooden stick to 🤔🤪

    Looks like you installed 2 left side parts? They're cheaper. The correct right side part has a switch, like the one you took off. It turns on the cargo area light.

      Nice catch! Thank you! Guess I need to grab the right part. I appreciate the comment and help

      You’re very welcome. At my shop, we’ve only worked on Porsche 944’s for 15 years. My TH-cam channel is TimComeau. Cheers, mate.

    ive pulled the tabs as far as theyll got but it isnt nearly as easy to remove at yours were. it is also 16 degrees in my garage so that might be why but i am trying not break anything

    • @spencerdog944
      @spencerdog944  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes 16° is pretty cold to be working on your car. I'm also in Florida though so anything below 60 gets kind of chilly here. Were you able to get yours off though?

    Now that it's been so long, any delamanation from your rear hatch window? (if you even have the car anymore lol)

    • @spencerdog944
      @spencerdog944  ปีที่แล้ว

      Still have the car and surprisingly have not seen any delamination since I have put these in. Everything is pretty straight and not too tight.

      @@spencerdog944 Good to hear! I see a lot of people replacing their struts and 6 months to a year down the line they form a leak due to the window detaching from the metal. One of the common suggested fixes for that is to reseal the hatch and replace the struts with struts from an 87-95 Jeep Wrangler struts. Maybe the ones you are using are like the Jeep ones.

    I installed mine but my lid flies up when I'm driving even though it's closed tightly

      Oh wow! Sounds like you may need to replace the latches

  • @jlo5134
    @jlo5134 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you use the exact same strut for the hood and hatch?

    • @spencerdog944
      @spencerdog944  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not. the rear hatch struts are different than the front ones

      No, they do not :) (atleast my -83 doesn’t)

    Where did you get your rear hatch struts at?

    • @spencerdog944
      @spencerdog944  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I pick them up either on eBay or Amazon I don't remember exactly which one

  • @PUTS4Lyfe
    @PUTS4Lyfe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you happen to remember which struts you ordered? I just ordered a pair off of ebay and they operated absolutely horribly. Stuttering and whining.

    • @spencerdog944
      @spencerdog944  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I got mine off Amazon they're the "tough support" or something like that since I wasn't sure if the car was going to run yet I just grabbed the cheapest parts to minimize my investment 😁

      I purchased two expensive one from Pelican parts that were too stiff and did not work. Their owners forum recommended not using the ones from Pelican parts as there is a chance they will cause yor rear glass to pop out. They recommended STRONG ARM part nr 4761 that work great @@spencerdog944
