I had a zf 5 speed in my 86 used a 2 piece and now a 8hp with the same prop, when I had the 5 speed I had a 3.9 final drive from a s14 auto iirc, pull away in second and 3rd and 4th is main gears for skidding which is nice compared to 3rd to 2nd
Ah, good to know - I have a 3.5 ratio 350z diff and shafts to swap in if I don't like the 4.1 I currently have in the car but 3>4 should be a smoother shift than 2>3 in the heat of the moment!

@DESTROY OR DIE yeah totally alot of folk seem to think bmw boxes are too short but as you say a 4th to 3rd shift os far easier than a 3rd to 2nd
Plot Twist... The courier didn't loose anything... Instead they actually just stole the adapter plate for his own sr-bmw box conversion...
