    The vast majority enjoy relaxed camping, but then somebody comes by with technical climbing gear to tackle a 5 pt wall
    You're the hard-core climber
    I didn't like marathon the fist time we drove thru. Of course key west wasn't a prize either
    The next time a few years later we stopped on our way back to Isla mirada to get some fresh fish. That's when it dawned on me that marathon is where the real conchs work/live.
    All the commercial action is located there, either the freight airport, large shipyards or marine supplies
    I've always enjoyed getting away from the tourist zones and just chill while people are simply going about their lives

    Hi Captain.
    I have followed your sailings and your knowledge of sailing with a gaff rigged boat.
    I myself have had two gaff rigged boats.
    One from 1901. The other from 1899.
    But to make a long story short ..... Why did you not take the opportunity to explore the Mediterranean, when you still made the trip across the Atlantic?
    Now you're back in the US, with the same waters, you've been sailing for lots of years.
    Just wondering ?
    With all due respect to you as a sailor .... !!

    Piéro Mengarelli

    • @howtosailoceans1423
      @howtosailoceans1423  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've found that tan sails actually last longer than white ones. I think this is because the dye helps to block the UV from penetrating into the cloth. The problem with colored dacron used to be that you could not get higher grades of cloth in anything but white, but these sails are Fibercon, by Contenter, and have held up well.
