If you are planning to cross the atlantic this season, you better get going or at least get up north for Hurricane season. We lost our boat with IAN last year. 150mph wind and 18 foot surges. These storms are no joke, not to scare you but just be in the right place at the right times and you will be fine. Good luck.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your boat. Hope everyone was ok. We’re planning on being south of the hurricane zone this year. There’s a bit of a lag in our videos as we get going. We should make it in time. Thanks for watching!
The Keys are the first place we're looking forward to exploring when we get our boat. We've been there several times on land, but can't wait to explore the underwater scenery!
Glad to see a new family sailing vlog and we’re looking forward to seeing your adventures! Stay tight nit and loving at all times!! Cheers and congratulations 👍👍👍👍
Yes! Having the journey nicely curated is one of the reasons we’re making the videos vs having loads of footage you never go back and look at. Thanks for watching!
I love this. I grew up with boats in the shores of New England. I moved west for school and struggled to return to the coastline as one does when their spouse is not from the coast. She always worries how life would be in a boat but is more than okay living in a van in the dessert 🤣🤷🏻♂️.
I am happy to be a new subscriber . I think what you’re doing is wonderful and I know that life at sea is very hard work - being prepared for any and every eventuality , anticipating everything in advance , constant maintenance , checks and detail with detailed knowledge and understanding of safety , proper procedures , navigation, sea conditions , wind , sails , rigging, engines , all repairs in all “departments “ …..the list is endless. Yet it is a hugely rewarding challenge and I admire you for it . Wishing you all very well , much joy and fair winds and following seas.
Thanks for the comment Alexandra! It’s really hard to be on top of everything right out of the gate but we’re finding there’s a wonderful community of cruisers that are incredibly willing to help. Thanks for watching!
Good video. I’m enjoying each one. I watch You Tube videos on my iPad while doing an elliptical workout - 15 minute videos are great cause I can string several together as a playlist. Gotta ask: when y’all were in the dingy, did someone have the kill-switch lanyard attached to them? I didn’t see it attached to your son. Never operate an outboard, even for a short distance, with the kill-switch lanyard attached. Technical complaint: The music is usually too loud. A lot of You Tubers have this problem - when a video switches from a conversation to background music the music comes in waaaay too loud.
We aren’t as consistent using the kill switch on the dingy as we should be. You’re right - that has to be a habit. As you keep going with the videos hopefully the music volume blends in better with the rest of the volume. It’s something we became much more aware of after the first half dozen or so videos. Thank you for watching and thanks for the feedback!
Families
may want to share this channel far and wide, especially in a time where choices seem slim to none!

Another great video. Anxious to see what the boards are for.
Thanks! Stay tuned, we’re hoping to do a boat tour soon.
