the guy on the left sounds really excited about what he's explaining.

As both PSM and eDRX are very useful features, i was thinking, can these be coupled with eachother to save power which is in between what PSM and eDRX can provide? Let's say we configure PSM to allow device to stay in "idle" state after connection establishment for a little time. After that, it goes into PSM and stays there until eDRX configured time expires and the device wakes up to "ping" the network. Please share your comments. Thanks

What is the relation between CAT - M and LTE

Is Cat M1 more susceptible to interference, being that it is for low power devices and battery operated devices?

Does the "low cost" aspect of Cat M1 technology only pertain to the cost of the hardware itself, or is it also reducing the cost of cellular data consumption (i.e. developers/end-users will be able to go to smaller data plans)?

I believe this is true. Cat-4 is what most cell phones use? take this with a grain of salt im researching on youtube currently. Check this out 2 mins and can help answer your question. th-cam.com/video/RlZ9rXbrJqM/w-d-xo.html

So what happens if you send an SMS to your device in between the 40minute edrx intervals? Will your device miss that message? Or will it only receive it the next time the 40 minute interval triggers?

Yes! SMS works a bit differently than normal data services. The carriers actually hang onto SMS messages and attempt multiple retries to deliver them to devices. eDRX ensures that the device will reconnect to the network and check for new information, so the network could then deliver those messages at those times.

I'm curious how this relates to 5G, if at all

    • @Airgaininc

5G is being developed for the next ("fifth") generation of wireless devices. Cat M is not part of 5G, but an evolution of (4G) LTE specifically for low power devices.
