As much as I wanted Edmonton to win, I am really happy for every Florida player who got to hold the Stanley Cup. They really deserved it. And that speech by Paul Maurice was very emotional. I really do hope that Edmonton can, one day, experience winning the best trophy in all of sports themselves.
lmao no they don't. The only player who deserved to lift a cup in Florida was boobtitsky. The Panthers showed up as an AHL-tier team that lived or died based on whether their goalie had the energy to carry their pathetic performance or not. Anyone other than Boobtitsky who touched that cup should be permanently ejected from the NHL for touching a cup that they didn't win.
@@rcyalater...2305 If you were an actual Florida fan the least you could do is cheer for the carry on your team, how pathetic lmao. It's no wonder why the majority of Florida's "fans" were completely silent during the entire game on Monday. They wouldn't know what was happening on the ice even if they had a guide describing it to them. Give any team a goalie that gets a .953 save percentage in 3 games and they win those 3 games, the San Jose Sharks could have won those 3 games with Boobtitsky in net.
Real game changer was Barkov. What happened in Edmonton when Oilers were able to play McDavid against other lines? Home ice advantage was really important in this series. There is actual stats explaining how good Barkov actually was against McDavid. He didn't totally shut him down, but expected goal against Barkov was almost 2 goals less than other lines for McDavid.
Thanks THG, for a great season of recapping all of the things we missed, and all of the things that we saw with our own eyes. What a series, truly remarkable to watch so many people who never watch hockey fall in love with the sport through this cup finals. So happy for all those first timers, and most importantly happy for the Panthers getting to win their first, as a Caps fan I always love seeing other fanbases getting to experience that first chip!
his first language isn't english, he didn't understand anyways, like the taunts on igor. I am also guessing him not winning the Vezina this year really doesn't matter much at this point.
@@TonySchiavone6 what he speaks English just fine lol & got a feeling he'll still probably get the Vezina since he won the cup. being the runner up to the Conn Smythe as a goaltender should earn you that.
Bobrovski got robbed, Barkov too. They both deserved it far more than McOverrated. How does a guy do nothing in 4 out of 7 games and win an award for it 🤷 Regardless, I guess McOverrated needs some form of a participation trophy since he's the leagues golden goose (goose egg conor) .... loved the interview afterwards, just impregnating it into his fragile mind that he did nothing but lose 🤣
Bob plays 4 great games and wins the cup while McDavid doesn’t show up for 4, plays 3 good games then completely disappears for game 7. It’s pathetic 😂
@@winkletown8828 Because the award goes for the most valuable playoff player not the finals. Mcdavid was easily the most valuable player in the playoffs.
no one more deserving than Reinhart for the GWG, a Stanley Cup winning goal ! his 10th of the playoffs and his second GWG. Buffalo sure know how to draft Stanley Cup winners !
Man, I watched the entire ceremony afterwards and there were a LOT of emotional people who didn’t even play the game. Messier, Subban, Steve Levy all emotional. The Florida owner, thought he had some wonderful words and mentioned his dad being there. Then at the end Sean McDonough was so emotional he could hardly talk and same with Ray Ferraro. I think everyone who witnessed this series with just how shook the panthers were, and how inspiring it was to watch Edmonton claw back 3 games , couldn’t help but feel those emotions for how incredible it was. For Florida to win after dropping 3 games and find the mental toughness and resolve. And then of course for Edmonton, who fought back in the most inspiring fashion, to have to lose in game 7. This is why we love hockey! Until next year… thanks hockey guy !!
The Cats and Rats are Stanley Cup Champions! 🎊 I’ll tell you what tho, Edmonton had a HELL of a season. In Game 7’s you just got to tip the cap to the team that wanted it more. What a great series. Keep your heads up Edmonton fans. I thought they played well. You know what stops relocation rumors? Winning Stanley Cups. Cats fans should be so proud of this team. 👏🏻 Thanks for an awesome season, Shannon!
@@winkletown8828 Are you one of those ppl who was mad McDavid won Conn Smythe, or…. This isn’t the NBA, it’s not the finals MVP but the player who had most impact throughout the course of the playoffs. In this case, they played better defensively to minimize McDavid’s impact on the ice on games 6 and 7, but overall he did play better. It absolutely does matter who wanted it more. Game 7’s are toss ups and Florida played better defensively.
There was relocation rumors about the Canes in the years 2012-2015 and they have won a cup. A title help to keep a team but fans have to follow after the win, even in the dark moments. I think Florida can stay competitive some years and they are not close to moving, that's sure

Oiler fan here. What a series for both teams. Despite the loss, I'm happy the Oilers fought to the bitter end in game 7 rather than getting swept. But in the end, I'm glad the Panthers hoist the cup that they deserved instead of being labeled as chokers.
True, they needed this after last year, with one of the worst collapses in recent sport's history. A great year for Florida and an excellent playoff run

Alanis was amazing. I was so glad that they got her to do the anthems. She's a top tier performer to be able to do that with all the crowd nonsense going on!
That was more like how Games 1-3 went. Florida finally woke up and played physical defensive hockey. Edmonton was out of gas. Congratulations to Florida on finally getting their first Stanley Cup. Congratulations to Edmonton to force a Game 7 after being down 3-0 but, McDavid and Draisaitl had to do better than 0 goals and 0 assists in Game 7. Draisaitl scored no goals in the Finals. It is fitting that the Conn Smythe didn't go to a Panther despite winning the Cup because of their team first mentality.
I'm a Panthers season ticket holder. Raised in South Florida. I sing Oh Canada, I am American, I have family in Canada. When Montreal comes to town I sing O Canada in french entirely. It was amazing to see the Barky lift the cup. Watching Maurice lift the cup was quite a moment. It seemed surreal, but pure joy as well. Tkachuk Family. Panthers fans love to hate on Ekblad, I'm glad he got to win and lift the cup. Kyle Okposo, crushed our hopes in 2016 as an Islander, he is a Champion as a Florida Panther.
I remember McDavid in his first playoffs agaist the Ducks. He was very good, but double clutched on some shots he should've taken. But he improved the next year and the next. He'll learn, and if he can end up with the right complimentary cast, he'll get there.
Fun Fact: This was the first SCF since 2009 to go all 7 games without any games going into overtime, and also the first time since 2009 that the Stanley Cup & Calder Cup were won on the same day
So happy for Okposo, OEL, Ekblad and Maurice. Okposo seems like a stand up guy who probably had one last chance to win. Just happy to see OEL raise it. Ekblad who’s been with the team forever. And for Maurice for being probably one of the most underrated coaches in the past decade. Really good at growing players like Bennett, Montour, Reinhart, etc.
WOOOOO PANTHERS!!! I honestly didn't expect it after losing 3 in a row but somehow the Panthers pulled if off and shut the Oilers clear down. And I couldn't be more happy for Luongo getting his cup ring. Guy's a saint, he deserved it.

I have to say, Florida deserves to win that game, but I'll tell you, that was probably the most exciting series I've ever watched. The Oiler should be incredibly proud of their accomplishments. From being tied with the worst starting record in Oilers history, to the second longest winning streak in NHL history, to very nearly pulling off the reverse sweep for the first time since 1942. It is awful that they lost, but they should be proud of it. Next year, I think they can go all the way goalie is the only question mark at this point.

Congrats to your team on the win. Your team earned it. Great series and one of the best I've seen!
@@allanshpeley4284 thank you!!!
As much as I wanted Edmonton to win, I am really happy for every Florida player who got to hold the Stanley Cup. They really deserved it. And that speech by Paul Maurice was very emotional. I really do hope that Edmonton can, one day, experience winning the best trophy in all of sports themselves.
Just not against my Panthers, win it against any other team
lmao no they don't.
It's not happening. If we couldn't do it this year, Canada's never getting it again. It's so over. What's the point anymore
@@EdmontonRails this cope is ridiculously hilarious 😂
@@rcyalater...2305 If you were an actual Florida fan the least you could do is cheer for the carry on your team, how pathetic lmao. It's no wonder why the majority of Florida's "fans" were completely silent during the entire game on Monday. They wouldn't know what was happening on the ice even if they had a guide describing it to them. Give any team a goalie that gets a .953 save percentage in 3 games and they win those 3 games, the San Jose Sharks could have won those 3 games with Boobtitsky in net.
My favorite anthem singer ever was Roger Doucet singing "O Canada" in French in the old Montreal Forum. Thanks for the video.
Ginette Reno 2014 playoffs was something else too!
The "Rooster" always sang a bilingual version of the anthem.
Thank you so much for recapping and reviewing everything over this miraculous season Shannon! Can’t wait for yet another season come the fall.
Thanks THG, for a great season of recapping all of the things we missed, and all of the things that we saw with our own eyes. You have become a tradition with me; I watch the game, I watch the highlights, then I tune into THG to see what everyone else missed.
I'll be keeping an eye out during the off season to keep up on events and temper expectations as time goes on. Thank you again!
What a series, truly remarkable to watch so many people who never watch hockey fall in love with the sport through this cup finals. So happy for all those first timers, and most importantly happy for the Panthers getting to win their first, as a Caps fan I always love seeing other fanbases getting to experience that first chip!
I cannot imagine Bobrovsky is all that upset about the Conn Smythe right now
his first language isn't english, he didn't understand anyways, like the taunts on igor.
How does a guy do nothing in 4 out of 7 games and win an award for it 🤷
Regardless, I guess McOverrated needs some form of a participation trophy since he's the leagues golden goose (goose egg conor) .... loved the interview afterwards, just impregnating it into his fragile mind that he did nothing but lose 🤣
Thanks Shannon for leading us along for the ride!
Congrats Maurice. I was kinda stunned when he said he wants Winnipeg to win the next cup.
Not a jets fan but my jaw dropped when he said that
no one more deserving than Reinhart for the GWG, a Stanley Cup winning goal ! his 10th of the playoffs and his second GWG.
Buffalo sure know how to draft Stanley Cup winners !
Why did they let go of him lol
Great season Hockey Guy 🎉
Thank you for your coverage this season Shannon!
What a game. Thank you Florida
Thanks for taking us through the season, Shannon.
Thank you for a wonderful season Shannon!
So happy for Okie, glad to see a solid Islander/Saber get his name on the cup
The Cats and Rats are Stanley Cup Champions! 🎊
I’ll tell you what tho, Edmonton had a HELL of a season. In Game 7’s you just got to tip the cap to the team that wanted it more. What a great series. Keep your heads up Edmonton fans. I thought they played well.
You know what stops relocation rumors? Winning Stanley Cups. Cats fans should be so proud of this team. 👏🏻
Thanks for an awesome season, Shannon!
Wanting it more doesn't win championships. Better players and execution does.
Where was McOverrated in games 1,2,3 and 7 😱🤣🤣🤣🤣 goose egg Conor.
@@XSharkdarkX exactly what I was thinking!
The end of the Adidas era :(
And as soon as we get the new Ducks logo there won’t be any adidas version 😭 just snagged the last panthers adidas jersey with the cup patch but I want a ducks adidas with the orange eye, oh well.
Ew time for fanatics gross
As an oilers fan, Fanatics is a bigger disappointment than the loss
Thanks Shannon for another great season! Appreciate the hard work!
Thanks for a great season Shannon!
Oiler's fan here. The city is understandably devastated. I was out and about after the game, and it seemed like most everyone I saw was in their jerseys. Edmonton still has more to fight for but these next few weeks are gonna hard.
GG Florida, great response, great series, great story.
great final. Best I’ve seen. So happy for the panthers. Respect to the Oilers for playing their hearts out
I know I called Oilers to win it all after Game 5, but once again, the hockey gods showed me how much I DON'T know about Hockey! LOL
Congrats to the Florida Panthers and their fans on winning their first Stanley Cup. It's a series like this that makes me even MORE proud
of my Golden Knights for winning last season, because the level of difficulty to win a Cup is simply off the charts!
I don’t care how this makes me sound. This is one of the best days in my life and I’m so happy for all those players and the staff. I honestly haven’t stopped smiling since the game ended and I think it’ll take a while to knock that smile off my face. I’m so sorry oilers fans, I know that feeling from last year. I truly believe the Oilers will be right back in the final next year and my early prediction is the Oilers beat the Devils.
i spent two hours walking to and from the gym tonight, didn't check my phone once after the game. was replaying so much in my head time just slipped by. Hopefully this keeps going for a few days.
It's what every fan hopes for! Enjoy it.
Had me till the Devils 😈 lol
Let's go Panthers! As a fan of neither team (Avs fan), I couldn't be happier for you! Lomberg is my favorite Panther, but I also love Rodrigues, Barkov, Ekblad, and Reinhart.
Thank you for all your efforts this playoff season, Shannon.
I’m a Vancouverite and Canucks fan, have been following you since 2020.
Looking forward to your coverage next season. You do such a good job of this. 🙌
As a Flames fan, I'm happy about the result. Watching Chucky lift the Cup just hit different.
Don’t forget Bennett as well! Just sad they couldn’t pull it off in Calgary in 2019

That game 7 was really anti climactic though. But amazing series for sure.
@@naty4_th832 To be fair, as an Avs fan, I kinda agree since almost every game in that series was much closer than this series except for Games 2 and 3, but this series is still amazing hockey.

Defensive hockey wins championships! Panthers did a complete 180 from two years ago and were rewarded. Congrats to the Cats!
Also a 180 from Games 4-6
Thank you for another great season of coverage!
Objectively the most entertaining SCF’s since ‘18 & ‘19.
Congratulations to the Panthers. They played well tonight. Edmonton gave it a good effort, but down three games is a deep hole. A great series.
Looks like what Bob needed to beat the Oilers was less practice
Mental aspect of goaltending is so misunderstood. It's said that goaltending is more mental than physical. Yes you have to be physically sharp, but when you lose 3 in a row, a mental reset can do a lot of good.
Somewhere Iverson is grinning
Oiler fan here. What a series for both teams. Despite the loss, I'm happy the Oilers fought to the bitter end in game 7 rather than getting swept. But in the end, I'm glad the Panthers hoist the cup that they deserved instead of being labeled as chokers.
True, they needed this after last year, with one of the worst collapses in recent sport's history. A great year for Florida and an excellent playoff run
Thanks Shannon for talking Bettman out of OT tonight. I was totally expecting it to go at least one extra period
Thanks for another great season, Shannon. Can’t wait for next season! And all the fun videos you cook up this offseason!
I watched the whole game. The level of accuracy in these videos is astonishing.

Thank you for another fantastic year of coverage, Shannon. Looking forward to you covering the draft and FA madness. Other than that, have a good summer!
Alanis was amazing. I was so glad that they got her to do the anthems. She's a top tier performer to be able to do that with all the crowd nonsense going on!
As a Canucks fan this series was amazing both teams deserved to be here and gave us a great game 7
Florida fan here, started watching you early in the playoffs and became a fan.
Congratulations to the Panthers, oilers fan here but we couldn’t get the job done in the most critical game on the line
Panthers fan here. I didn't give Edmonton the credit they deserved. That was the most nerve-wracking series of my life. Edmonton will be back.
Americans only have one anthem
This is the BEST commentary video you have done. You have injected some emotion and opinion in the summary which has really made it more interesting.
I'm sure McDavid won't want to hear it but Gretzky, Yzerman, and Crosby all lost their first trip to the finals. They still have a good future ahead.
Yeah but Crosby and Gretzky were barely in their 20s. Crosby was 21. Gretzky was 22? Not 27. Until he learns to backcheck he isn't winning anything.
@chelious1973 I think Yzerman was 30 in '95. Different league, but it's still possible. Fedorov and Listrom weren't that much younger.
@@BvG_Venom That is why I didn't mention Yzerman. Yes, he has time but not much.
I remember McDavid in his first playoffs agaist the Ducks. He was very good, but double clutched on some shots he should've taken. But he improved the next year and the next. He'll learn, and if he can end up with the right complimentary cast, he'll get there.
@@ThomB1031 If he doesn't back check. I don't think so.
Thank you to the Hockey Guy! Enjoy a bit of summer!
Let's go Panthers! Great seeing Bobby Lou lift the cup!
You are amazing Hockey Guy! I applaud your work that you make fun...

Nobody cares who came in second. The Oilers had an easy run through the west. I am not sure that they can do this again.
