- Tascam Dr-40x Portable Digital Recorder : ASMR: AB vs XY : The DR-40x by Tascam is a popular portable digital recorder and ofter used for ASMR. How are you guys and girls using your DR-40x? Internal or external mics?? I hear a lot of people are using them for ASMR?

Great explanation. Can you make a video on how to use the built in mic to do great voice recordings used for voice overs?
This is a great video: in-built MICs sound better than I expected: I'll be doing fireplace, rain and wind atmos sounds with it and was wondering if I'll need to be connecting up external mics - but by the sound of your tests I may not even need them.

Buongiorno volevo chiedere come posso collegare i mic. lavalier ( sennheiser, Rode ecc..) direttamente
perchè non sono riuscito a farli funzionare in tutti i modi collegamenti bilanciati sbilanciati TRS XLR settaggi vari ecc..
premetto che i lavalier funzionano perfettamente come pure i vari mic fucile ( Sennheiser MK6.. Rode NTG...)

Since the mics are movable from xy to ab, And each position has its own qualities, I’m wondering if it’s possible to position the mics in between those 2 settings and get a hybrid sound that gives you the positive features of each position to some degree?

Yes, listening through headphones whilst recording is definitely recommended
Are two channels reserved for the built in mics or can i use all 4 channels for line level instruments (for example). Does it have metronome??
Hey man i have a 1/4 adaptor to 3.5mm connected to my mic to the Tascam Dr40X but even if i set the parameters correct it does not record audio, do you have that problem?
Can anyone help....? I've set up Record mode as INT STEREO / DUAL RECORD. Hit 'record' - flashes - set levels - hit record again - solid red. Then....it records for 5 seconds and stops recording and flashes red again. It then counts this 5 sec recording as a ''track'' in the Music Files. It's like there is a setting somewhere which is allowing only for 5 seconds of recording. Same thing happens if I use Ext Line In. PS... I've had this for 2 yrs but only learning to use it the last few days. I wonder if it is a software update issue. Any help much appreciated. Wanted to use it tonight....

Hey, for singing give it a go with an external mic. It’ll sound much better than the built in mics.
