HOLI FESTIVAL INDIA, VRINDAVAN| What is it? How is it for foreigners?
As soon as we found out that we would be in India for Holi, we decided to research the best city to celebrate this festivity. We left towards Mathura, but ended up celebrating in Vrindavan. I can tell you it was crazy! A real mix of feelings. If at times we are infected with joy and enthusiasm, at others when we see people coming towards us we don't know when the mess of dust generated around us will stop. We are foreigners. We are a kind of target, but at the same time others try to integrate us.
Throughout this episode we will understand what Holi is in India, more specifically in Vrindavan. This festival is known for its colors, joy, electronic music and dance. But what does it mean? This festival celebrates the arrival of spring and Holika Dahan is based on a Hindu legend, which celebrates the victory of good over evil.
The fact that there is dust that fills people with different colors is based on another story, where two figures had different colors and therefore the use of colors was accepted. What is certain is that for hours, different people, regardless of their color or position in society they occupy, celebrate this festival in the same way (and together).
