Everyone acts so surprised but pop rock sound of her new album Plastic Hearts is NOT a new sound for her, she literally started her career with pop rock music (see you again, 7 things, start all over, breakout, kicking and screaming and etc), idk why everyone saying it's new sound, she ALSO always was covering rock music, even at 12 years old was singing I love rock n roll. She was singing with Joan Jett since she was 16, headlining big rock festivals at 17 lol people just woke up. She always had raspy voice. She at 15 years old was saying she will do a metal record in one day and people just finding out she can sing rock 😂

Same thing I said. She grew up with a Rockstar dad that grew up in the 60s/70s in the heart of Southern Rock and Blues Rock. What else you expect?

I agree with all of this except her voice. Miley is publicly outspoken about how her experience in California has altered her voice and career trajectory. The fire that burned down her house took a lot more than just her home, but she has changed quite beautifully, and I personally love this new voice as it sounds much more mature. Love Miley, but the raspiness in her voice has been more of a recent metamorphic event in her life.
Miley’s speaking voice didn’t change. But the surgery she had due to reinke edema added more grit to her singing voice. Even tho her voice was always gritty and dirty. Now due to the surgery it’s more gritty.
Her voice- Miley had something called Reinke's edema- degeneration of one or both vocal folds within Reinke's space. Basically her vocal cords began to degrade and fill with fluid from years of being a Disney kid and being overworked with little break/healing/recovery. She had to get surgery to be able to correct them. It’s something that a normal person can live with- a females voice just deepens a lot from their normal pitch… but if your job is your voice or you have a distinct one, it can be quite unsettling and surgery is used to correct it. I think knowing she went through this and listening to her really adds an interesting dimension to her performances- she is changed, but not broken.

You should react to some of her own songs. Her album plastic hearts is a great pop rock combination mixed with amazing ballads. But the live performances are better than the studio versions
She had vocal cord surgery on 2019. After that her voice quite change due to the surgery and vocal damage. But one of the reasons she sounds good now is because she now has a vocal trainer that helped her sing with her “new” voice and she improve her technique
Everything she does is intentional. She is the force. Also no audience here to react to. She and the entire band and crew SERVED IT!!! Miley is a G.O.A.T.
I don’t understand why people hate on artists when they try a new sound. That’s called artistic development and it helps them stay relevant! (Not on this channel but I’ve seen people hating on her and Ed Sheeran recently for changing their “sound”. It keeps it exciting and fun for them as artists!
The same thing happened for maroon 5 and linkin park… if you enjoy and support an artist you should fully support them. You don’t have to like everything they do but don’t knock them down for trying something new.

You might wanna listen to her performing her song “midnight sky”. It’s an excellent rock song that sounds straight out of the 80s. I recommend you listen to a live performance because she does it better than the studio version.

Love your reaction! Soo good. Her cover of Doll parts on Howard Stern show is amazing. Yes she did a surgery in 2019 i believe and has been working with a vocal coach to really perfect her sound with the changes etc. She always had a rock heart and has cover it since her earlier days but really leans into it now. I'm not a rock fan but she really introduced me to some of the legends via covers
yes, this cover is at all streaming platforms and she added this in her plastic hearts album on spotify. so in love with her version!
One thing i have always loved about her, especially with these rock and metal covers, is the emotion ana passion she puts into them. She puts her all into them and tbh everything she does. Even with her own music its always her and what she wants to do which i love. I dont get goosebumps often but holy moly this gave me them.

I loved The Cranberries when they first came on the scene Wayback when! They were played on alternative stations, and so I loved them for being unique and non-main stream. Since then obviously they found their popularity explode into main stream but I stuck with them…had a cassette!!lol…and I think Dolores O’Riordan would be very proud of Miley doin her thing with her music…
She died the same day my mother had her stroke…

Super cool cover dude! Guitarist didn’t go into a solo by the way it’s just how this song is set up and that’s what makes it epic. I don’t know the correct terminology but there’s basically a mini bridge (vocally) before the guitar solo and the actual bridge. And she executed it so so well!

Her voice got damaged by the smoke from the fire she had to work to get it back to normal but was struggling.

She did have a vocal surgery in Nov of 2019, since then her voice has changed a little, thus why many like to box her into one genre once again, if isn't country, then its rock or pop, but Miley can sing whatever she puts her mind into, not just one type of genre!

Of course massive credit to Dolores O'riordan and and The Cranberries for the original song and a massive credit to Miley's backup band, but less than 20 seconds into Miley's singing, my chest tightened and I had an uncontrollable SOB as tears roll down my face... And I'm a 65 year old man... You have to be doing something right to get that kind of visceral reaction...

I think the change in her voice is due to some major vocal chord surgery she had a couple years ago.

so Miley had an affliction of the vocal cords which is called Reinkes Edema which is a swelling of the outer layer of tissue around the vocal cords. this was caused by overstressing and overworking the vocal cords. show after show after show every night without proper warm-up or rest. cigarettes alcohol All are contributing factors. so she had to have surgery to repair it. And that caused her voice to be even more raspy than it was before. so there you go. if you'd like more detailed information. You can go to Beth Roars TH-cam channel she's a vocal coach and Google what happened to Miley Cyrus's voice. And she will explain the whole thing. You don't have to I found it super interesting so in your spare time if you want to.

Before the surgery she can hit super high notes but then she doesn't sing above D5 anymore 😭
Honestly most of her super high notes before the surgery are while she’s on tour. Miley’s belting range before the surgery was up to a A5, now it’s up to an F5 most likely. And she’ll show it in her upcoming tour. Even tho she lost half an octave of her range, her surgery added a more natural and healthy grit to her voice and made her lower notes even heavier. Her vocal control is at its peak now also 😁
@@andre590 i loooooove her voice now!!! Her key to a healthier voice AND performances are experimenting with her mix and higher notes, also in harder choruses, she needs her backup singers. I noticed that she always sings the full song with full on belt! I think that was the reason she damaged her voice. She should take notes from other singers who only sing/belt on the important part of the song. Tbh her songs are not easy! Yes, its not as high as Ariana songs or as complex as Mariah but Miley songs are belt after belt. Ooohhhh
@@MrJai044 yeah and i love that she uses her backup singers now. That’s a great way to have more longevity on her voice due to not having to sing every single word of the songs. And her belting range is coming back. Its been 1 year and a half since her vocal surgery. Her voice is on its way to having its second vocal Peak.

All respect to Miley but thjs has feck all to do with her raspy voice etcettera. This song is a brave cover well done. The song is about a longstanding issue in Ireland (1916) and the trauma of living in a particular community (or any community) in the North. From a shipbuilding and textlies industrial city where all is in the weave of the song. In a civil war environment where language and accent and place of origin can provoke hostility and is sometimes life or death. Where the paramilliatry power in a community can be a bigger threat than the opposition accross the main road. This song expreses real lives. This is why it is so potent in Ireland and even in the UK. So a brave cover and Miley Cyrus naiiled it, but please don't try ro make it about throat issues and guitar solos
