The songs DAECHWITA, HAEGEUM AND AMYGDALA (and their respective MVs) make up the trilogy that represents Suga's alter ego. They are part of the same universe and tell of the struggles between their inner demons and other personas. They are simply incredible, revealing, deeply symbolic and meaningful. DAECHWITA (traditional Korean march, played for kings, army movements, etc.), is the first in the trilogy and was an applause for all who hate him. While in the title song AGUST D Suga was full of anger, resentment and disillusionment with the world, in this song he presents himself with an impetuous but somewhat calm personality. Furthermore, in the MV there are two AGUST Ds: the one with black hair was the poor one (appears with 6 friends, mention of BTS) and the blonde one was the king (tyrant who kills opponents and dissidents). In the tent, a woman (reference to ARMY) gives the poor man the key to start the revolution. So, he and his 6 friends arrive at the king's lands without fear. Where they show the drawing of Bang Si-hyuk (“creator of BTS”). The king sentences him to death, however, even tied up and on his knees, he continues singing DAECHWITA. The other condemned men join the revolt, singing DAECHWITA. Finally, the executioner who was supposed to kill the poor man also joins the revolt, frees him and gives him a weapon, with which he kills the tyrant king. With this we have a metaphor to demonstrate the lower class “overthrowing the system”. Totally relatable to BTS who started as a discriminated group (from a small almost bankrupt company), who were despised and disdained, but ended up becoming the biggest Korean group in k-pop (true kings of the game). In the time of dynasties, the poor would never be part of the elite but today BTS who started small is the elite. The achievement was extremely difficult, however, with hard work, talent and determination they “overthrew” the dominant system of the Korean music industry (and continue to do so until now, overturning the arrogance and prejudice of the global music industry). Fun fact: JIN and JUNGKOOK appear as extras in the MV - they fight when SUGA bumps into JIN at the fair. 💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜
In the song, he talks about how he wanted fame and money and they BTS got all of that (depicted by the king Agust D) but then he starts fearing that he will lose touch with his real self, depicted by the black haired Agust D. In the end he “kills” the King, his high minded self, to make sure he can firmly keep his feet in the ground. He even raps about all of this, not just about the haters. You can’t watch this video and not get that this, in part, is what he’s saying with this song. Slow it down if you have to. 😊
Ahhh yess!! Finally getting into some Agust D. I saw him live when he went on his D-day tour! The whole arena was singing this song word from word! So dope! I love how he takes shots. He doesn’t care. Suga isn’t always sweet 😂
Daechwita was a military song so the meaning is so cool. They played it when the king or the "ARMY" was marching so basically he is saying I have a whole Army behind me.
Everything Yoongi does could be considered a masterpiece. He is truly a musical genius. He produces his own videos and even does the storyboards for them. He's so good.
Great reaction guys, you and BTS always make my fridays better. It’s really amazing how the beat doesn’t change the whole song, he changes his flows and makes it super interesting. There is a sequel to this music video, you’ll probably take a while to react to it, since it’s very recent but the song name is Haegeum, and he also mixes traditional Korean instruments and it’s so good
That crazy beat, the sound throughout the track is entirely a daechwita!!!!! Suga took the Joseon era daechwita heard in the very beginning of the track and COMPOSED a new contemporary hip-hop rap trap version!!!! Did you even notice the beat NEVER EVER changes???? Suga controls the emotions, the gravity of his lyrics strictly by his tone and flow changes throughout, setting the entire visuals for a beautiful setup to end his trilogy of songs with Haegeum, which means the lifting of a ban on something forbidden and also uses a daechwita, as well, AND the very different trilogy (song) ending Amygdala, the part of the brain that holds memories and controls for fear! Amygdala is my box of tissues song, as it flashes ALL of Min Yoongi's hardships and struggles - this is his true life story!!!
Oh thank you 💜 I'm so happy you guys finally did this one. Suga is my bias and I absolutely adore him. Please do Haegeum and AMYGDALA next as they're connected to Daechwita. You should also check out his D-Day tour. It's soooo fire 🔥🔥
You should react to an explanation video by DKDK TV about this song.. and definitely you MUST react to Haegum with is part 2 of a trilogy , being the last one Amygdala ... PLEASE DO SO!!! Love all your BTS reactions.. greetings from Mexico 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Ok one additional comment Im surprised you didn't break down the lyrics and make this a 30 minute video! But, no worries. However this is MV one of a trilogy so I would recommend thinking about the lyrics and what you saw. Because the three songs are connected. And they're very much the "inside" of Suga and his life story. So, if you can do it, please give some thought to what the lyrics and the video mean. And the compare that for what's to come. I wish you were told before hand to pay close attention because this is an important story! Thanks for your reaction!
it is pronounced as [de-chi-ta]. It is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching usually during ceremonial entrances of a king or an army. Daechwita is the first song of the Agust D trilogy, the second one is Haegeum and the 3rd one is Amygdala. these you should watch in order because they tell a story representing Suga's/Agust D's personal journey offering an intimate portrayal of his life as an artist. bit of a trivia: Jungkook and Jin have a cameo appearance in this video. Did you spot them?
Love this MV! The song is great of course but knowing what Suga said himself in behind the scenes of this MV while I think he is calling others out of course there's a lot more to it and DKDKTV does a good job adding cultural context to the MV in their Daechwita explained by a Korean vid. Also just an added fun trivia on the MV the gun that Suga uses at the end is a Colt m1860 Army.
I think you guys have been reacting to BTS long enough to spend more than 11:19 on songs with as much depth and meaning as this song, if I'm honest. This song isn't just cool, and also wasn't just a slap back to haters (or pill popping rappers), although it is definitely both of those things. There is crazy wordplay and historical referrences in this song - enough to have an explanation video. I really wish you guys would get your mods to let you know when those exist and when a song merits a deeper dive. I love your reactions, but I think it's time for you guys to move to the next level, personally.
Unfortunately we had to react to 10 videos in a single night because Jake was moving back to the US the next day. We did this at 2am after we all had full work days also. Our apologies, we will do better next time.
Hello mod here, we do provide the guys with all the information they need when we send all of the videos (i.e. meaning behind the song and full lyrics for them to analyze on their own). The guys have very little time to go through all the videos they put out throughout the week, which is why they sometimes they can’t dive too deep on screen but they do take the time to understand what’s going on.
Episode #68 - Suga's Agust D's D-2 songs - Strange featuring RM, beyond relevant today; Burn It featuring MAX, and People (a 2018 song he wrote for Jimin to sing, but producers nixed that idea and gave Jimin Serendipity, so Suga put it on D-2) --- all available with live performances Strange and Burn It, at his D-Day concert, Burn It, 2 ways - MAX or JK!!!! People on IU's program!!!
Totally Mortal Kombat vibes, he was straight up looking like Raiden with his straw hat 👌🏼 Would love for you guys to check out DKDKTVs explanation video for this.
This songs is just.. fire!!!! Now is time to watch the trilogy with Haegum and Amygdala. And yu can also watch that version when all the members performed the song together. Amazing!! 😊
They say all Asians are the same. But I needed to take a closer look and make sure that you are all different))) P.s. my son suggested: one is white, the other is red and the third is yellow)))
OMG you made it to this epic moment in time!!!! I'm too excited to say more except I hope you watch the trilogy now and I saw him in concert!! Na na na na na na!!!!! (Idk if that's the right expression of my I am greater than thou dig. But it's all I got.)
I’ve been waiting months for you to react to this video. I’m 71 yrs old and jk is my guy but agustd singing this is the best video ever. Watch the explanation video by dkdk just helps so much plus you missed Jin and jk in video fighting. So much to absorb from this.

Yes please read this because his story is important to ARMYS
please don’t recommend amygdala without mentioning that it could be triggering for some people

wish I had been there
Saw him at the Prudential Ctr in Newark...the entire stadium was shaking

I saw him in a theatre in Florida. It was a production from his concert and it was an awesome experience. The theatre was filled to max with ARMY!
I love these faces , when people are reacting to Suga's solos❤

Suga is a genius when it comes to lyrics and production. I always enjoy his music and y’all’s reactions!
He got the Hand of The Midas!
Everything this man writes turns into gold!
We appreciate the respectful reaction.
Thanks!
It is a trilogy. Daechwita, HAEGEUM, Amigdala.
Guuuuuys! You have to react to the trilogy! It's Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala ❤
