- Surprise! This is the men's foil finals of the 2017 December NAC. The final Turin GP round of 8 bout is still scheduled for Monday, and Meinhardt vs. Le Pechoux should be up before then.
The original, uncommented video was uploaded by USA Fencing at • 2017 December NAC Div ... .
CyrusOfChaos also recorded this bout (also with live commentary) at • Portland 2017 MF - GOL... .
This is my sixth attempt at a live fencing commentary, so please leave as much constructive criticism as possible! The only way I can get better is if you guys help me identify mistakes.

Seriously the FIE should get people like you to do the official commentary instead of the donuts they currently have on staff.
Agree
the last touch is very smooth
Thanks a lot for the early Christmas present. I really do feel like refs never really check how many videos each fencer has left, especially with fencers who tend to make a fuss when they don't get a touch. They'd rather make the token trip to the review screen than deal with it. Flashiness wise, that flick from Miles at 4:35, the riposte from Miles at 8:22, and Gerek's final touch look like they belong in a highlight reel.
Why in the 2:05min the atack from Miles is No?? Is because he finished the atack and then Meinhardt touch himself by going foward??
That's right. Miles's attack had already ended by the time the lights turned on.
@@TheFoilist In that case i´dont get why i see sometimes that: The attacker, with the initiative, stops or tries to beat the extend arm/point in line of the defender. Instead of just releasing the attack.
I ´m a nooby and your chanel helps a lot. Thanks.
@@christopherrimplington3643 Well, if the defender is presenting a correct point-in-line, the attacker is obligated to beat before finishing, or else the point-in-line will have the right of way over the attack.
@@TheFoilist thank you so much!!! 👍
Do you think you will ever be commenting on sabre videos?
Nope. I'm a foilist; sabre mystifies me.
2.08 point to right,meinhardt stops
